Apologies

Crowley had moved on after the 'abandonment' as Crowley called it. In his mind that is what he had done, he had abandoned Crowley and from the very second after he left the street he vowed never to say the angels name or to ever think about him ever again.

He was successful to an extent, Crowley had moved to a small town up north near the border. He had basically restarted his life without 'him'. He had his cottage and his garden an according to him the best part was that his nearest neighbour was four miles away in any direction. He believed he had found his peace.

It was early one Saturday evening when the town had their monthly town festival and Crowley had for some reason shown up. He was creeping around the alley ways when a little girl ran into his legs with tears streaming down her face.

"Sorry Mister" she said as she tried to walk around him.

Crowley sighed and contemplated not getting involved but he could never say no to a crying child and so he knelt down and asked her "Are you alright?"

"I *sob* I can't find *sob* my mama"

"What's your name?"

"Kayla"

"Why don't we go and find her?" said Crowley who offered her his hand.

The girl looked at him through her tears and hesitated before taking Crowley's hand and they walked into the busy street. Crowley could feel the girl tighten her grip, he knew she was scared, he knew how it felt to be separated from those he....No he wasn't thinking about him anymore.

"Do you see her?" Crowley asked Kayla

Kayla looked around but couldn't see her mom and so they stayed where they were and kept looking.

"KAYLA!?"

Crowley could hear the girls mother shouting for her but he couldn't see her and so they stayed put, she would find them and about a minute later she did just that.

"Mama!" shouted the girl as her mother came running up to her and hugged her.

"Oh Kayla don't run off like that. Are you alright?"

"I'm okay the nice man helped me find you"

"What man?"

Kayla looked around the Crowley was walking back to his alley way, now that Kayla was with her mother she would be safe.

"Mister!" shouted Kayla as she dragged her mother towards him.

They stood before the demon and he looked the mother in the eyes, silently annoyed he had left his sunglasses at home.

"You found my daughter?"

Crowley nodded. He was not expecting the mother to lean up and kiss him on the cheek and thank him for his kindness. Kayla and her mother walked away and disappeared in the crowd.

Crowley leaned against the wall of the alley and just watched the people have their fun, remembering a time when he had such fun.

"That was a nice thing you did Crowley"

Crowley acted like he hadn't heard him and kept watching the people.

"I understand you're angry with me, I also understand that I hurt you, I wanted to apologise for...."

Crowley shoved him against the wall by his coat and looked him dead in the eyes.

"You have NO right to say those words to me, YOU understand nothing about what you did!"

"Crowley...."

"Why did you come here? To torture me?"

"What? No of course not"

"Well thats what you're doing, just leave, its what you're good at" said Crowley as he let go of him and walked down the alley away from the human party.

"Crowley please just let me explain"

"Last time you left me standing there like an idiot, I guess its my turn, don't come here again because I won't let you leave with out one hell of a hellfire burn" said Crowley with absolutely no emotion in his voice whatsoever, he had stopped caring.

Aziraphale sighed and let the demon leave having a glimpse into the pain he had inflicted on Crowley without even meaning to. "Oh Crowley, what have I done?"

It was the next day when Crowley felt something off, he was sitting on his sofa drinking some coffee when he felt it and so he got up and walked out of the house and saw not only Michael but Michael and Uriel.

"What do you two want?"

"The supreme Archangel wants a word with you"

Crowley smirked "Didn't have the balls to come here himself did he?"

"Metatron is a busy angel as you well know....

"Wait, I thought Aziraphale was Supreme Archangel?"

"Why would we promote the traitor?"

Crowley suddenly got a chill, if the Metatron lied to Aziraphale, what the hell did happen to him? Crowley was now annoyed at himself for not hearing Aziraphale out the other night.

"Well where is his Holiness?"

A white light descended from the sky and landed before Michael and Uriel. The light morphed into Metatron.

"Demon" he greeted

"Dickhead" greeted Crowley as he sipped on his coffee.

Metatron sighed and straightened his tie.

"You lied to him didn't you?"

"Traitors will be delt with" replied the Metatron

"You lot are worse than Hell you know that. So if he's not with you assholes where is he?"

"Thats what we need to find out, you're his friend, he will come to you"

"Correction, he was my friend until he left me for you lot, which turned about to be lie but still, I'll let you know if I see him, now piss off"

Crowley stared at the Archangels for about thirty seconds before they ascended back to heaven. Crowley practically ran into the cottage and got dressed properly and then ran out the door heading into the village.

Crowley parked the Bentley and patted the hood.

Crowley returned to the alley with little hope but hope none the less. He looked around trying to find any trace of the angel.

"Fucking hell Aziraphale where are you, you stupid Principality?"

Crowley walked further into the alleyway which turned to the left, he kept walking until he came across a door with some angelic runes carved into it. Crowley made a safe bet and walked through the door. The runes not working on him due to the fact that he was a demon and not an angel.

"You here Aziraphale?"

Crowley could hear some groans coming from somewhere inside the building, he kept walking until he found Aziraphale sitting on the floor, leaning against a support pillar with a pool of blood surrounding him.

"What happened to you?" said the demon who was standing over him with his arms crossed.

"Nice to see you too my dear, If you must know I had to fight my way out of heaven"

"I didn't realised you were injured last night"

"You never asked or let me explain"

Crowley walked away and jumped up to sit on a big wooden box in front of the angel "Lets have it then"

"When I left I believed what Metatron had told me but when we got there I realised it was all a lie. I wanted to leave, to come back but he locked the lift and had me locked up the the old cells on the lower levels"

As Aziraphale spoke Crowley felt nothing, no sympathy or empathy, nothing.

"It felt like weeks before anyone came to see me, even then all they did was beat me up. I had no idea heaven could be so cruel"

Crowley smirked "Seriously" he said sarcastically

"You may have lost your faith in her Crowley but I haven't"

"Hey! I never lost my faith, I still believe in what she wanted to create, it was Her who turned her back on me...just like you did" exclaimed Crowley who had leaped off the box and was standing before the Angel who was still bleeding.

"I...I didn't know you still believed"

"Yeah well you never asked...Why aren't you healing?"

"Wounds from Angelic weapons take time"

"Well when you all healed I'm sure Muriel would like to see you at the bookshop" said Crowley as he began to walk towards the door.

"Crowley please...lets just talk...please"

"I can't, I just can't. Everyone I ever cared about has left me at some point in my life, I never thought you would be on that list, I thought you would always be there if I needed you"

"Crowley, please lets just talk this through"

"We can't because you're always going to be upset I didn't come with you and I'm always going to remember you didn't choose me, I'm sorry"

Aziraphale had silent tears running down his face.

"We're not good for each other, no matter how much we want it, I love you Aziraphale but please don't come back" said Crowley who was so close to breaking

"Crowley! please, please don't do this"

"I'm sorry Aziraphale...They came to me looking for you, be careful"

Crowley left to the sound of Aziraphale wailing after him. Crowley had to do what was best for him, even though it broke his heart into a million pieces.

Crowley returned to his cottage and he snapped, the tears flowed heavily and freely. For the first time in years Crowley was scared of what was to come, a life with no Aziraphale in it.

This broke my heart to write, there will be NO second part my heart can't handle it.

I hope yours did
