Final Note.

Hi. . .

Thought it appropriate I start with the final note than the fun facts for this one, seeing as it took so fucking long to finish this. I started this draft 2018, then re-did it and re-posted it a bunch of times before settling sometime in June of 2020. It took two years to finish this draft. It's been such a long, laborious hurdle after another. Pandemic, plagiarism, my final year of college. . . Pity took one look at me and said no, maybe not.

But it's really done. Kit and Sunny's first little book, finished.

It was such a time. Two years is a lot, mind you, and my person has gone through so much. Met myself again and again in the process; picking up new hobbies, new things to adore. Two years is both short and long, and time... time has no mercy for any of us. She walks forward, always.

Life is so funny, but I'm so glad I stayed and finished this book. In all its tatters and frayed edges, it brought me immense joy and comfort. Not just in writing the story, but meeting its characters.

I have so many people to thank, but this last one, is dedicated both to Sunny and Kit. For her unfailing kindness and his unfailing love for her. It gave me a lighthouse in dark waters.

Now onto some fun facts, hehe

Fun Facts:

1. To get re-acquainted with these loves (and the mystery itself), having taken months away from any of my wips, I used a spare Twitter to make a commentary thread as I edited through the live chapters. There wasn't a lot of big, major edits, just a few polishing and taking notes of things again. After that was done, I made a commentary and accountability thread on the final chapters of GMSF.

2. Marigold was in love with Kit, but with the Kit that she knew; in all his depravity and monstrosity. But Kit didn't like that person, whoever he is. That's why he set himself to be better, always, especially in front of and with Sunny. She makes him better, simply by existing. Kit holds himself to a higher degree, especially with his morals, around her.

3. One of my favourite parts to write was the paragraph about Sunny being a ghost of her own house; always awake at ungodly hours, moving things around, picking things up. She's more awake at night than during the day, keeping busy by random acts that the people of her own household had given her liberty to do as she pleases, as long as she doesn't commit anything too atrocious.

4. I sought to keep the conversation between Detective Moore and Aron as vague as possible, giving you red herrings on who he might be. First, ya'll thought it was Kit. Then Lorcan. But the arrival of Aron's name and behaviour shifted everything. You all knew exactly that something was wrong.

5. Detective Moore was the cliche trope of a hard-hewn detective who smokes, smells of pity, dark memories, and brandy. Just like the seemingly cliche trope of Sunny; a young genius detective who knows and notices everything. They were both born from cliches, but twisted. In a way.

6. Kit borrowing his stepfather's suit to the funeral is intentional. He has a tan suit, a pink suit, and a corduroy camel coloured one, but no simple black suit. He's too fashionable to own one, the dolt.

7. Marigold & Aron reacting so wildly after talking to Kit, is like an abrasive reaction when they're hiding something. Marigold isn't as much of an experienced liar as Aron, but she was good. She had a very strict mother, she had to be. But in front of Kit who loved to prod and pull and trick, they became frantic in their anger. Kit always goes for an emotionally strong response, that-

8. - it actually triggers Aron. Aron and Kit, both of whom, in the Detective's eyes, are two people in the same coin. I would like to disagree on this point he made (even when I wrote it lmao), but only because this is his biased point. Aron and Kit have many similarities; they're explosive, made of anger and teeth, but they're also very controlled. And cunning. But where Kit sought Sunny as both a rock and a moral compass, Aron didn't want one. He was resolute on who he was and how he saw the world.

Which ultimately led to his failure, because he forgot, that while Lyssian was cold and calculative, he was also a brother. An Uncle. A son. Lyssian prided himself in his smarts, but he also prided himself in his family. And despite Aron's cruel words, Lyssian loved his family.

9. Everything that happened with the murders, Benjamin was responsible for the physical trauma. Aron held puppet master, that was true, despite not actually injuring or killing anybody until Sasha, who had escaped. Lyssian had been wrapped in Aron's cajoling and games the time they took a girl, but apart from burying the first victim, he had no other part in it.

10. Is Kit in love with Sunny? Yes. Is this the love we expect? No, I don't think so.
