Just a quick note, for this chapter, I have drawn an accompanying image. Think of it as a light novel if you will, but I haven't posted it at the top as it will (kinda) spoil the chapter. Anyway I have put a prompt in the chapter of when the snapshot happens, you can scroll down to see it if you want or see it at the end. (Image is at the bottom)

Now without further ado; the chapter!

I froze on the spot, trying my luck at telepathic communication in order to mentally warn Addison and the others to stay inside the elevator or run or something. But of course that wouldn't work because obviously I didn't possess telepathy.

Everyone knew that Supers only possessed one ability, so it was stupid of me for trying.

So how did you heal Brandon? My annoying conscious asked, bringing up another question that I didn't have the answer to.

Addison stumbled out of the elevator and the guns were raised again with an unsettling synchronicity, pointing towards us.

"Hands in the air where we can see them!" came the order again, the countless weapons trained on us causing my heart to pound.

"Brandon," I whispered through gritted teeth. "Do you remember any other way out from the time you visited with your dad?"

Brandon glanced at me discreetly from the corner of my eye before returning his eyes to the front. Slowly, he raised his hands and stepped forward causing my eyes to widen.

He was surrendering?! No way I was going to go back into that straitjacket!

I was about to stop him when Brandon dropped his hand to scratch his ear, causing all the guns to point towards him.

When we had played spies as kids, we had a different code for different actions. A tap on the chin was a no, and a scratch on the ear was a yes.

I tucked a strand of hair behind my ear and nodded back discreetly.

"Fine," Brandon announced, raising his hands higher. "We surrender."

I followed suit, and from the corner of my eye, I could see Addison and Aiden do the same. The guards looked at each other as if questioning why we had surrendered so easily, but their commander laughed.

"Hah! Surrendering so easily?" he taunted. "Well, you are a bunch of no-good kids, so at least you know your place."

I gritted my teeth as he paced around us, continuing to leer.

"You're all talk aren't you?" he sneered, throwing the pistol in his hand up before catching it in his other.

Ignore him, Levi. Wait it out.

He glanced at us again, before nodding to the guards behind him.

"Round 'em up."

My eyes widened and I glanced worriedly to Brandon, trying to meet his eyes.

What is he planning?

Then, it was as if it all happened in slow motion.

Just as a guard was about to handcuff Brandon, he twisted around and somehow managed to clip the guard's own wrists to his belt. I hid a grin, flipping over the guard approaching me and wrapping the chain of the handcuffs around his ankles. Pulling hard, I wrenched my wrists out of the half-locked cuffs and effectively tripped the surprised guard over.

Around me, I saw Aiden and Addison do things of similar sorts- the two of them having taken self-defense classes since they were little. I stood up and brushed myself down, not able to help the pleased feeling that overcame me.

But apparently not for long.

A shout broke me out of my thoughts, and suddenly, a hard body slammed into my side, knocking the wind out of me as we slid behind a nearby counter. I glanced up to see Brandon, staring down at me with a panicked expression on his face. His mouth was moving but I couldn't hear a word of what he was saying.

"... you ok? Levi!" Brandon grasped my shoulders, and it was then that I registered the sound of gunfire and a paralyzing pain in my right arm.

In a daze, I pressed my left palm against the point of the pain, eyes widening when it came back stained in red.

"Breathe, Levi. it's fine- it only grazed your skin." I dimly heard Brandon take off his shirt, tying it around my wound. The sound of him zipping his jacket back up broke me out of my daze.

Unconsciously, I brought a hand up to the wound on my arm and winced.

"We'll disinfect it when we get out of here," said Brandon, glancing out from behind the counter. From where I sat, I could see the twins had taken cover behind the other counter a few metres away from us.

I caught Addison's concerned stare and nodded.

I'm ok, I mouthed, managing a weak smile. Addison gave me a thumbs up, before turning back and whispering something to Aiden.

I glanced back at Brandon. From the sounds of gunfire, they were trying to keep us trapped behind the counter.

"There's a side exit down that hallway," shouted Brandon over the clanging of gunfire.

I nodded, glancing out from the other side of the counter, narrowly missed being shot by another bullet. Gasping, I darted back behind cover, wincing as another stray bullet ricocheted off the edge.

"We can't walk through the gunfire!" I replied, glancing back at Brandon's thoughtful expression. "If we wait any longer, they'll reach us!"

Suddenly, a huge gust of wind blew down the hallway, flinging the guards back and scattering the riot shields. A gun skidded to a halt near my boot and I picked it up, turning to face the attacker.

My eyes widened when I was met with familiar yellow-green eyes.

"Caleb?"

He flashed me a grin, before turning back to the guards and creating another huge gust of wind. The ones who had just started standing up again were knocked backwards as if they weighed nothing, effectively winding them.

But the gunfire had stopped; we had a way out.

"Brandon-" I turned back to face him, catching an unreadable expression flash across his eyes.

"Who's Caleb?" He probed, causing me to blink at the sudden question.

I glanced away, not sure why I felt as if I should keep our escape a secret

"He's..." I bit my lip. "Remember the one I told you about? That I had some help?"

Brandon stayed strangely silent and I took that as a chance to quickly continue. Caleb wouldn't be able to hold off countless guards by himself- and I wouldn't be able to use my powers to help him.

"That's him."

"A villain?" Brandon spat, a dark expression crossing his face.

I recoiled, feeling an indescribable hurt at the way he said villain as if it was the gunk on the bottom of his shoe.

I'm a villain too, I wanted to say, but instead just shrugged.

"I don't know, but he was in the neighbouring cell to mine and helped me find you guys-"

"Then why wasn't he there when you found us? Are you sure he's not just using you as a means to escape? Who knows why he was in the prison!"

"Brandon, he helped me-"

"No! He's-"

He flinched as there was a bang on the counter that we were hiding behind.

"This is no time and place for a lovers' quarrel Levi," Caleb smirked, eyebrow raised at me. "Let's get a move on."

Brandon glanced away, brushing by Caleb and waving the twins over.

"The side exit is that way," Brandon muttered, stepping over the unconscious forms of the fallen guards.

I stood up, glancing at Caleb.

"Where did you go? You just disappeared like that!"

He shrugged, placing his hands in his pockets.

"Go catch up with lover boy, I don't know how much time we have to get out of here."

I bit my lip, but stepped away from the counter, jogging a little to catch up with Brandon and the twins, wincing when pain shot through my arm.

Brandon didn't acknowledge my arrival, but instead pushed a button behind him, causing a section of the wall to slide open.

"Went through this entrance when I came here with my father," he said simply, disappearing outside.

I glanced back at Caleb who was following a distance behind me but then stepped through as well.

Blinking at the sudden glare of early morning sunlight, I realised the huge letter H painted on the ground meant we were on some helicopter landing pad. I raised a hand, shielding my eyes from the sun and sucked in a breath.

I hadn't realised it when we had snuck in, but STARKON's facility stood on the high point of a cliff-face and the sunlight glistening on the lolling waves made me stop and stare.

"Levi!" Came a shout, and it was as if it was a sense of deja vu. I glanced towards the noise in time to see a bullet rapidly approaching. I could see Brandon and the twin's horrified expressions as I willed my legs to move, but they stayed rooted to the spot.

Is this it?

A huge gust of wind caused the trees to bend at an unnatural angle and sent me stumbling backwards. I glanced to my right and saw Caleb, a thunderous expression on his face.

"First you argue with her in the middle of an escape and now you run off by yourself. You are a terrible boyfriend- Brady was it?" Caleb growled hands raised causing five or so men to fly out of the foliage, each one armed with a sniper rifle.

They landed a while away, and the sickening crunch was enough to make my stomach heave.

I turned to thank Caleb for saving us yet again, when I realised he had disappeared. I caught sight of him storming towards the fallen guards so fast it was almost as if he was gliding through the air.

He stopped a few metres away from the guards and raised his hands again, causing the few conscious guards to emit a surprised yelp. I winced at the splash of blood as he dropped them again, causing the thick liquid to stain his shirt.

Surely he didn't have to go that far?

I quickly ran up to where Caleb was standing, grimacing at the metallic scent that grew stronger with every step. My eyes widened when I saw the three men that were still conscious claw at their throats. It took me a while to realised that Caleb still had a hand raised.

I placed a hand on his shoulder, causing him to turn towards me, surprised at the amount of hatred in his eyes.

"Caleb? It's fine now. They can't hurt us anymore."

He blinked, and a strange vulnerability passed over his eyes before fading away. He turned away, expression shadowed.

"You can... you can come stay in our camp for a while? If you have nowhere else to go?" I didn't know why I was offering for him to join our camp when I knew well enough that he was almost a complete stranger.

But he just saved your life- twice, my conscious countered.

"Levi! We have to get out of here!"

I glanced at Caleb's now blank expression before turning away at Addison's call. Jogging back to meet up with the twins and Brandon, I hid a smile when I heard a soft shuffle of footsteps follow mine.

Following the fence back towards the hole we made when we entered, I kicked away the dirt and pulled back the wire. Slowly, the four of us made it back into the dense foliage of the National Park and I turned to the group.

"Caleb's going to join us for a bit in our camp; he did save our lives, so I feel we should repay him in some way," I informed, glancing at the faces before me.

Aiden's face remained impassive while Addison glanced back and forth between Caleb and I for a while before breaking out into a smile.

"That's right! I haven't thanked you for helping us yet!" Addison exclaimed, breaking the tense silence.

Caleb grinned an award-winning smile, and it was as if what happened moments before was all an illusion.

"You're welcome, cutie." He replied, winking.

I felt an unknown emotion stir in my stomach but hid it with a laugh.

"So it's decided then?" I questioned. "Caleb's going to stay with us for a whi-"

"No," the word cut through the air like a knife, and four pairs of eyes turned to stare at Brandon.

"No, I don't want that villain staying where he's not welcome."

Ok, so this was written in a rush so there's probably a lot of awkward wording. But, I said a chapter every tuesday, and I am a girl of my word! (Ok I just didn't want to give up my awesome tally...)

Anyways, feedback welcome!
