YAY! 10th chapter!!!

(^o^)

~*~

We were definitely being followed.

For the past three blocks, a white van had been tailing us; not close enough to get noticed, but not far enough to stay out of sight. But I had definitely noticed.

Besides, what kind of beaten up white Holden would have tinted windows? Tinted, as in so dark that you can't even see into.

I held my phone up and looked at the car through the camera for the fiftieth time that minute. There weren't even any scratches on the windows, and yet there was a huge dent on the side. Seems suspicious if you ask me, I mean if you had the money to replace the windows, then why not the entire side?!

Shifting slightly in my seat, I leaned down and checked the soles of my boots. Good. The knife was still there. I had put it there for one of the 'missions' that my father made me go on, and was thankful that I hadn't taken it out. It gave me a bit of assurance that I at least had something to protect myself with, as I obviously could not use my powers; given the situation.

I could feel my heart thudding faster as I saw the white van get closer through the screen on my phone. I clenched my now clammy hands as I tried to calm myself down.

W-What do I do? Anything I try will either give away the fact that I have powers or get us all killed! And I definitely can't use my powers! They'll find out I'm a villain! And-

"There's someone following us," Hissed Aiden as he sunk down into his seat.

I blinked.

Well. Problem solved.

"The white Holden?" I didn't know why I was whispering.

Aiden turned around as if startled.

"Yeah," he frowned, studying me. "When did you realise?"

I paused.

"Erm... three blocks ago...?" It came out as a question.

Aiden raised his eyebrows. I couldn't tell if he was annoyed or not.

"Why didn't you say anything earlier?" he demanded.

Ok, he was annoyed.

"Um... I thought... They'd go away..." I trailed off.

More like I didn't know what to do because I couldn't use my powers.

But obviously, I couldn't say that out loud.

He sighed heavily and turned to Brandon.

"We have to try and shake them off. Who even knows why they're following us..." He shook his head and turned back to me. "I told you this 'journey' was a bad idea! I don't want to get arrested, thanks very much!"

I blanched. I hadn't thought about that. After high school Aiden was aiming for the First University of Alibastiar, and to get in to that, or any university for that matter he needed a clean record.

Aiden was right. How could I drag my friends into this?

I opened my mouth to reply when suddenly, there was a loud crash as the car lurched sideways.

I gasped as I was thrown into the door and Brandon lost control of the car.

"Brandon! The wheel! Grab the wheel!! WE'RE GOING TO CRASH!" Addison shrieked, clutching her bag for dear life as the car fast approached the nearby building.

My knuckles turned white as I grasped the door handle to keep from being flung out of my seat.

I gasped as Brandon finally manged to grab the wheel and yank the car back towards the road, banging my head against the glass in the process.

"What was that?! What just happened?!" I rubbed the bump forming on my head.

Addison was as white as a sheet.

"They're shooting at us."

"Did you get them?" the first man demanded, looking at the man sitting next to him expectantly.

"No, I missed the wheel." the second man replied, scratching his head sheepishly. "It hit the side instead."

"You idiot! You know we only have one chance at this! Don't blow it!" He reached over the dashboard. "Oi, lemme do it. It's obvious you can't handle it."

The second man handed over the glowing rifle controller without saying a word.

Huffing, the first man turned and positioned to shoot again when there was a crackle in the earpiece.

"I hope you've done your job." The distorted voice stated. No was not an option.

The first man paled slightly as sweat ran down his face.

"Y-Yes! We have!" He stuttered, lying through his teeth.

"But we haven't actually-" the second man started only to be jabbed in the stomach.

"Shut up," hissed the first man, his hand over the mouthpiece.

"Is there a problem?"

"N-No! It was nothing. We will get the job done, rest assured."

"Right. Well I expect to see results. Bring me the girl. And make sure she does not resist."

"Yes, right away."

"Good. Use any means necessary."

The line cut dead and a slow smile spread over first man's face.

At his grin, the second man's eyes widened and he almost looked scared.

"Are we doing that?" He bit his lip worriedly.

"Yes," the first man replied, his smile growing.

"We're doing that."

Lol, I know I said in my other book that I probably wasn't going to update this in a while, but I saw that I got some votes on it and it motivated me to write the next chapter!!

So, yeah. But unfortunately the chapter is still pretty short. Oh well. The action is going to (finally) pick up in the next chapter (The_Blank_Wall now you can't complain) and I am very excited.

I'd appreciate some feedback on this chapter, and it might motivate me to update faster (hint, hint) Haha...
