Chapter 6- Safety First

I open my eyes to a white ceiling, and I'm pretty sure that's antiseptic I can smell. I look down to see I am lying down on a white bed. Why am I here again? As I go to sit up, I feel a sharp pain shooting through my head. Ouch. And then it hits me.
The fight. Cameron. Brody. I can't remember much from after that, I'm pretty sure I passed out. Where is Brody anyway?
"Hello," I say weakly, "Anyone there?" I hear footsteps approaching me, and I look up to see Brody coming towards me, with the schools nurse, Miss Lily following closely behind.
"Hey, you're awake," says Brody, relief washing over him.
"No shit Sherlock." I add, attempting to lighten up the mood. It doesn't work though, the frown stays put on Brody's face, refusing to budge as it taunts me with his presence. Just as he's about to reply, a feminine voice speaks up from behind Brody.
"Natasha, sweetie, how are you feeling, how is your head?," says Miss Lily, as she steps forward to get a better look at me.
"I'm fine, My head hurts quite a lot, but everything else is fine," I try to reassure her. I just wanted to get out of there. I just wanted to go home and have a nice long nap, and just drift away into the land of ponies, and fairies, and rainbows and-
"Yes, your head was hit hard, it will hurt for a few days, but it will be fine afterwards. I'll just prescribe you some medicines, and then you can go home and rest, okay sweetie?," she says, gently.
"Okay," I respond almost immediately.
Miss Lily strolls back over to her desk, to presumably write what I'm guessing is my medicine prescription. Once she's finished, she hands it to me, and then dismisses me. I try to get up carefully, but the pain in my head won't allow me to. When I go to try again, a deep voice says, "I got you."
Brody then saunters over to me, and lifts me up flawlessly. He then turns and smiles warmly at the nurse, before heading off towards his car.
"Erm, Brody," I say sheepishly.
"Yeah," Brody answers.
Nervously, I say, "Thanks for helping me today, and I'm so sorry you had to see that."
"It's ok, that's what friends do, right? And what are you sorry about, it's not your fault 'Man-whore of the jungle' has anger issues," Brody jokes.
I can't help myself ,and before I know it I'm laughing like a hyena on crack. At least now I know I can count on Brody whenever I'm in need of a good laugh.
Once we get to his car, Brody opens up the passenger seat, and places me down tenderly, almost as if I was fragile. He leans over me to grab my seatbelt, and until I look up, I don't notice the close proximity between our faces. My breath hitches in my throat, and fireworks explode all over my body. That's right, not sparks, fireworks. He turns towards me and our eyes lock. For a few moments, we just forget everything, like it's just us in the world. We stay in this position for a few more minutes, before the ringing of Brody's phone brings us out of our trance. He moves away from me, clips my seatbelt in place, closes the door, and then answers his phone.
Once he is seated in the drivers seat, he looks towards me, and says.
"I'll just drop you off at home, then there's something I need to go do, you sure you'll be ok on your own?"
"I'll be fine Brody, I'm a seventeen year old, practically an adult, stop worrying," I tell him, trying to reassure him.
It's like the school nurse all over again. "Are you sure sure sure?," Brody double checks. Wow. Nobody's ever been this worried for me before. They usually just ask me if I'm ok, then go back to doing whatever they were doing.
"Yes Brody, I'm sure sure sure sure sure sure, now drive," I inform him, exasperated. Finally at ease, Brody swiftly starts his car, and then drives out of the school parking lot.

I'm currently sitting on my bed, with Matchmakers and M&M's, and a bottle of coke, watching The Vampire Diaries. That show is just goals. After Brody dropped me off at home, I had a shower, and grabbed my favourite goodies from my stash of goodies. Which brings me to where I am now.
However, I just can't stop thinking about that incident in the car. Why do I always get butterflies whenever Brody is around? And why do I feel sparks in every inch of my body? What is happening to me? Could it be? No. It's probably just the side effects of being really close to an extremely hot guy. Yes. That's exactly what it is. I just need to stop overthinking everything.
I continue with my episode to distract myself from my thoughts. And, sure enough, I am taken away to the land of Vampires. And Werewolves. And extremely good looking guys.

"Natasha!," the sound of my mom shouting my name brings me out of my trance, and I pause my show.
"What?" I shout back, to which she replies hurriedly, "Come downstairs please."
Ugh. I unwillingly tear my blanket away from my body, the cold air nibbling against my skin, and get up to go downstairs. It's so much effort.
Once I get to the living room, I see two big and bulky, unfamiliar men sitting on the couch. They have on police uniforms.
Why are the police at my house?
"Yea mom?" I ask.
"This is Officer Brooks, and Officer McCoy. They wanted to talk to us, about.........," my mom trails away, not knowing what to say.
So she doesn't know why they are here either.
Before I can even get another word out of my mouth, one of the Officers, I think it's Officer Brooks, stands up and shakes my hand. Then he begins to speak.
"Hi, I'm so sorry to bother you at this hour ,but we have something we need to talk to you about. As you may have heard, the Midnight Murderer claimed another innocent victim, and once again, we were unable to stop them. We don't know their pattern, or how they chose their victims. So we have come to a conclusion that they could strike anywhere next time. Because of this, we are going to as many houses as we can, and we are making sure that people are staying safe. We just came here today to tell you to be careful whenever you are going somewhere on your own, and that if it's possible, stay indoors as much as you can. We also wanted your permission to install a new security system in your home." he finishes.
"Of course, do whatever you need to do, as long as my daughter is safe," my mom responds eagerly; a worried expression on her face.
Ah. My Good ol' protective mother. Ever since my dad cheated on my mom, with a much younger woman, I'm all she's got. Just as she's all I've got. So she does everything in her willpower to protect me, because she doesn't want to lose me. It's not like I'm going to leave her though. So she has nothing to worry about.
"Thank you for listening today, Miss Pearson," I am brought away from my thoughts as Officer McCoy speaks. My mom smiles at both Officers warmly, before they turn on their heels, and head towards their car outside.

"Why Elena, why?!!!!" I cry out to the TV screen.
"Don't do it, he doesn't deserve you. Stefan's the one!"
I know, I know. I'm talking to a TV. I'm weird like that. But then again, who isn't?
After the cops left, I had my dinner, came back upstairs, showered and brushed my teeth. Then I got changed into my pyjamas, and decided to watch some TV before going to bed.
The sound of my phone beeping causes me to look away from the TV. I was just about to sleep anyway, so I switch it off. I open my phone to see a text notification. From Brody.
Brody: Hey, what you up to?
Me: Nothing much, just watching some Vampire Diaries. What about you?
Brody: Nothing really, I was just about to go to sleep.
Me: Oh, well then I'll leave you to it. Goodnight Brody. Sweet dreams.
Brody: Goodnight beautiful. Sweeter dreams.
Right now, I am so thankful that Brody can't actually see me, because my face is redder than a tomato right now. He called me beautiful. Nobody's ever called me that before. Well. Apart from my mom. A smile creeps up onto my face, as I replay that message in my head over and over again. And as my eyes start to get droopy, I drift off to sleep, with a smile on my face.
