Chapter 21- Justice is in existence.

My breathing becomes ragged and I begin to lose all energy as they continue to chase after me. Willing my feet to move quicker; I pick up pace as I turn a corner. My legs become weak, and I feel like I will go at any given moment. Yet, I still continue to Sprint down the streets; dodging several different people.

Suddenly, my right foot clashes with a fallen brick from the building beside me; causing me to lose my footing and land face first onto the cold concrete floor.

Fresh blood oozes from my forehead; slowly making it's way down my face. Throbbing painfully, my head begins to spin.

Grabbing my head with my hands, attempting to ease the pain, I go to stand up; immediately falling back to the floor when I feel a shooting pain in my right leg.

"Ahhh", I groan, in utter pain. I once again try to stand up, lifting my left leg up first this time. But my efforts are useless. I can't do it. I just can't.

It hurts. Alot.

The sound of dozens of feet loudly slamming against the ground gain my undivided attention. I whip my head around to find a large crowd of people, armed with dangerous weapons, running quickly towards me. The mob of unknown people start to get closer and closer; getting more and more furious with every step they take.

What had I ever done to them?

I curl away into a ball; backing away into the brick wall. The sound of footsteps are much louder now; fast approaching my scared self.

I bury my face into the small gap between ny knees; hoping that I'll open my eyes and they'll all be gone.
But it doesn't work. This is happening. And I can't stop it.

Suddenly, there is Silence.

No screaming. No footsteps. No noise. No anything.

I quickly, but cautiously, lift my head up, to view my surroundings. As my eyes flutter open, I come face to face with many, many, many people,(extremely angry looking, May I add); surrounding me, leaving me with absolutely no room for escape.

They circle around me, while at the same time; closing in on me with their fearful weapons. An unwavering sense of fright takes over me; sweat trickling down my face, as they show no signs of stopping. The weapons near my body; barely touching my skin.

I close my eyes firmly, hoping that this isn't real. That this isn't reality.

"Mom", I let out a small whimper; fresh tears violently rolling down my blood stained face.

"Sweetie", I hear the sound of an angelic voice.

I block out the crowd of people, as I continue to listen for that beautiful voice.

"Mom", I cry out

"Sweetie" she replies.

"Mom, help me", I beg.

"Sweetheart, wake up."

"Help me Mom!"

"Natasha, baby, wake up!"

"Help me Mom!", I scream.

"Doctor, help! Sweetie, wake up!"

"Natasha, sweetheart, wake up!", the voices continue to scream.

"Help me Mom", I say again, but it comes out as barely a whisper.

"Baby please! Wake up!", I can hear the desperate cries.

Darkness begins to surround me, and before I know it, I feel myself being sucked into a never-ending vortex of it.

"Help me Mom", I mutter, one last time; before all is black.

***
I look up to see a never ending tunnel of black, with a small flicker of light towards the end.Picking myself up; I swiftly begin to walk towards it, but it moves further away.

Beep. Beep. Beep.

A discreet beeping noise diverts my attention. Worried voices can be heard in the distance.

"Doctor, is she going to be okay", Says a familiar, manly voice. Brody?

"Doctor please, is she going to be ok?"

Mom?

Suddenly, I feel myself being forcefully pulled towards the light. The small flicker begins to get brighter and brighter by the second.

"Doctor, she's moving."

Then, I crash into the bright light; allowing it to take me away.

My eyes slowly begin to flutter open, as I begin to gain consciousness. It takes a few seconds to adjust to the brightly lit room.

Where am I?

"Oh sweetheart, you're awake!", my mom cries; fresh salty tears rolling down her already tear stained face. She grasps my hand tightly, hugging it against her chest.

I open my mouth but no words come out. I tiredly lift my hand up to gently caress my mother's face. Swiping underneath her eyes, I wipe away the tears. I smile a reassuring smile at her; straining every single muscle in my body.

"Natasha, you have no idea how worried we were", I look in the opposite direction, to find Brody standing above me; caressing my free hand with his. Worry is evident on his features, and I can't help but admire how hot he looks, even when he is worried and in a disheveled state.

Really? Is this the time?

No, but-

"Miss Pearson", calls an unfamiliar voice from behind my mother. I look behind her small figure; spotting a middle aged man, holding a clipboard in his hand. He is dressed in a professional attire, with a white overcoat. On the front of the coat, lays a name tag. I squint my eyes; attempting to read the writing on it.

Dr Slade.

"The reports are here", he says.

My mom quickly lets go of my hand, and rushes over to the tall man; Brody following closely behind. "Yes? Is she going to be alright? What happened to her? Is she hurt? Is her head Ok? What-

"Whoa, calm down there Miss Pearson", Dr Slade cuts off my Mother's never-ending questions.

"Thankfully, it's nothing serious, she will be fine."

My mom and Brody both breath a huge sigh of relief; the worried expression leaving their faces.

"But ,what happened to her", Brody questions; his eyebrows furrowing cutely.

He's beautiful.

A blush creeps onto my face, as I realise how concerned Brody is for me, but I quickly suppress it. I know why I'm blushing, but he doesn't. Blushing for no reason, because that's just casual, isn't it?

"Well, because we don't actually know what happened to her, we can only give the information that we know. She has a minor head injury, which we believe was due to falling on her head. But it's just a graze, it will cause a minor headache, but nothing more. And the reason she passed out, is most likely shock and stress. She is perfectly healthy, so there's nothing more we can say. But, she does need medicine for her head. I'll just write up a prescription, and then you can take her home." Dr Slade finishes.

"Thank you so much Doctor", my mom says gratefully; shaking his hand at the same time.

"It's my job. I'll just go and write the prescription, and then you can take her home." Dr Slade spins on his heel, and heads off towards his office.

"I'm so glad you're okay. You have no idea how worried I was." Brody grabs my hand, and holds it against his cheek; gently caressing it.

As soon as my hand makes contact with his face, tingles immediately shoot up my spine. I feel butterflies in my stomach; fluttering out of control.

Breath, Natasha. Breath.

"I'm fine, you don't have to worry about me." I reassure him. Well. Attempt to reassure him. It doesn't work.

"Don't ever do that again. Get it? Or I will never, and I mean never, speak to you again." I chuckle lightly at Brody's expression.

It's just a minor head injury, no need to be so worried.

"I won't", I assure.

"Promise", Brody holds out his pinkie. I laugh at his childishness.

"Promise", I wrap my pinky around his; causing a genuine, happy, smile to appear on his face.

I smile back at him, Just as brightly.

From the corner of my eye, I can see the bright flash of the TV. I fully turn my head towards it; the news headlines grasping my attention.

"Hey Brody, can you turn up the volume", I ask. Brody nods in acceptance; grabbing the remote from the bedside table, and turning up the volume.

"Breaking News! The trial Dates for the Midnight Murderer; also known as Nina Thorns, have been decided. The extremely well know Assassin, will go to trial for the consecutive murders of 12 people, at the beginning of next month. We contacted the WBPD for details, "We can't give out alot of information, but what we cab say, is that due to how high profile this case is, we decided to keep the trial earlier. We want Mrs Thorns to be behind bars as soon as possible." These are the words of Officer Brooks, lead detective on this case. Well, we hope that Mrs Thorns is charged guilty, so that peace and sanity returns to Westbrook. This is Melissa Hill, reporting to you live from Fox Studios. Goodnight." She concludes.

I turn to look at Brody, who has ab expression of relief on his face.

His beautiful face.

Snap out of it!

Right.

"Finally. I guess justice does exist", Brody comments.

"Yeah", I nod in agreement.

Suddenly, the door slams open, and in walks Dr Slade, with what I'm presuming is my medicine prescription, in hand.

"Here you go", he hands my mom the piece of paper.

"Thank you so much, Doctor", my mom tells him; her voice full of gratitude.

"You're welcome, Like I said, it's my job", he answers. "You can take her home now, but she needs rest", he continues.

"Absolutely", my mom nods in response; her head bobbing up and down; sending her brunette curls everywhere. Dr Slade smiles warmly at us, before he exits the room.

My mom turns to face me, a dazzling smile gracing her features. "Right, let's get you home."
