Quarantine was announced. And I was happy to spend two weeks on my iPad! That's two weeks of sleep, roblox and TikTok!

WhatsApp groups were born, many of them.

I didn't talk much in them, the online safety talks were hammered into me, and I was too scared to do anything that could be used against me.

One day though, late at night, Ada and Layla were spamming a group chat, just the two of them.

I asked them if they could just text in private, so my phone won't blow up and I won't have so many notifications.

"Hi, why can't u guys text in priv? my phone is blowing up 😭" I sent

They typed and typed, then sent

"Just turn your phone off? Are you dumb?"

"HAHA UR DUMB"

Tired and just frustrated I typed back

"Kk"

And turned my phone off with a sigh, then went to sleep.

I woke up and grabbed my phone to turn it on with a yawn, then went to get rid off all the WhatsApp notifications.

Except one thing was new.

A group chat, named "Ava is stupid", the profile picture saying the same in cursive white text and a bright green background, and the entire year group was added to it

"What Ava?"

"Who's this about?"

"What Ava is stupid?"

My classmates typed, Layla responded

"The tall, ugly one"

And the rest of the group chat exploded in "lol" and "😭😭", before everyone and myself were removed.

tears swelled in my eyes, humiliated at such a stupid insult. I couldn't even defend myself anymore, no one was in the group chat, not even me. Layla and Ada only kept me in so I could see everything, then removed everyone before I got the chance to defend myself. My eyes, vision blurry with tears, didn't budge from two messages.

"Which Ava is stupid?"

"The tall, ugly one"
