Chapter 5: Good Boys Make Their Priorities Known
Thierry's POV
As I watched the young man standing right in front of me with a dreamy look on his face, I was feeling more confused than when I first met him. At the first glance of Matthieux- or "Matt," since he wants the two of us to be chummy, as does his mother- and the way he carried himself when he stepped out of his bedroom; I had two certain points in my mind.
1.) He is definitely built like a linebacker who can crush kids like me into a puddle of bones.
2.) Despite his currently friendly demeanor, he has this aura of pure dominance that makes everyone around him seem to stop whatever they were doing and bow low to him.
In short, I was in the presence of one of those athletes that seem like they want to be buddy-buddies with the nerd but plan to leave them in the dust in the latter days.
And whatever plans he had in mind, even if they were genuine, were soon coming to an abrupt end before he could get his chance. Since I was from the Lone Star state and Grandma Druscilla raised me to be practical, I was set on keeping my distance.
"So, newbie," he said after several moments of awkward (for me) silence. "My mom said that you and I were to be roommates and that I'm supposed to show you the ropes here at SFA."
I nodded. "And let me guess, you have other plans and I'm supposed to fend for myself, right?" I asked, folding my arms.
He looked offended. "Don't be silly," he said. "I'm insulted that you'd think that I'd leave you in the cold. Mom would kick my ass from here to the moon if I pulled anything like that."
We'll see. "Well, I've been through a lot back in Austin to learn that jocks can't be trusted," I began as I walked over and took a seat at the nearby breakfast nook. "I've been harassed, forced to do homework, browbeaten into giving up my hard-earned money and food, and even physically attacked by all the jocks back home to learn that I can never fit in with a jock no matter how much I can try.
I took a deep breath, noticing the flash of anger that was apparent in my roommate's eyes. "So if you don't mind, Matt, I just want to be able to complete my senior year here at Sammons Falls Academy with little to no drama from anyone while being left alone. I mean, I know that it's zero-chance for me to make any friends around here, so I'm prepared to be a loner and to remain faceless in the crowd where anything is allowed. As for the two of us, I want us to remain nothing more than roommates. I won't bother you if you can do the same for me. We'll respect each other's spaces and stay out of the way," I finished. "And now, I have to unpack and settle into my new digs. I do admit one thing, though. The dorms here can give any apartment complex a run for their money."
With that, I stood up and collected my belongings before heading to my bedroom to unpack. I smiled to myself, knowing that I was the one to have the last word. Hey, Grandma Dru made sure that I was to never back down when the time comes to assert myself. And after dealing with my mother and sister earlier, it was time that I began to hold my ground after remaining silent for too long.

Matt's POV
I was left stewing in anger for my mate.
All the jocks at his old school had made him into a cold and jaded boy who didn't trust anyone. I'd like to meet the people who made him like that, especially his family. If I would, I'd shred the whole town of Austin into shreds.
But since I learned that my mate loved UT too much (I'm a fan of their football and aquatics team myself), that would be a bit much, if not unforgivable.
I closed my eyes, feeling the link between my pack mates who were scattered around on the school grounds and in town. Listen well, my pack members, I said through the mind-link. I have found my mate. His name is Thierry Lemieux from Austin, Texas. He is my mate and mine alone. Do not harm or harass him. Any attempts will be met with severe punishment.
Yes, Alpha, everyone (except two certain female wolves) said in unison as I opened my eyes to let them glow red. Turning to my reflection, I smirked. "Thierry Lemieux," I said, letting a bit of Sirion show through with my eyes and a deeper voice. "A jaded beauty with the looks of Alicia Keys and the wit of Kate Middleton. You may not know of this, but I want us to be more than mere roommates. And by the end of senior year, I will claim you as my mate- fully mate with you underneath the light of the full moon before turning you and filling your tight hole with my seed so you'll carry my pups."
I smiled widely, fangs on full display as I refrained from howling and scaring my mate who was unpacking. "You're mine, Thierry Lemieux. ALL MINE. And that is a promise, even after do we part."
Ooh! The plot thickens, y'all, as intentions are made known! Thierry wants a quiet senior year. Matt wants his mate.
The next chapter features student orientation where a hate letter arrives at Thierry's door.
