Ch. 14:Good Boys Deal with Being Popular
Good Boys Never Lie
Good Boys and the Five-Star Treatment
IF you know me by now, dear people in cyberspace, then you ought to know that when it comes to getting special treatment...it's a rare and unusual feat, especially when you're used to being ignored, bullied, or pushed into the background for most of your life.
And when one good boy (or girl or rebel in between) is given special privileges when haters are against you moving up in life, you come to learn that it's better not to stand out and to accept that you're doomed to blend in and follow the crowd.
Well, tell that to the people who now see me in a more...celebratory light after a party that became way too much for my blood (I'm not dropping any details for the moment). And after some revelations that came to light this morning, you can pretty much bet your bottom dollar that I'm going to have a lot of fans- and haters- lining up at my door. As for my family back in Texas? Well, let's just say that I hope none of them (except maybe my grandmother) catches wind of this since none of them- except for my grandmother- supported me at all. In a way, I'm glad that I'm far from their grasp so I can finally figure out where to go from here.
Because right now, I've never felt so confused and discombobulated in my life. And that's the truth.
"Luna Lemieux."
"What's up, Luna?"
"Nice work being mated to Matt. You got a big stake to claim now that you know the truth about us. Come your mating, you'll be ready to rule the rest."
And the last sentence of the blog has never been any truer as I was gathering my bearings while having a late brunch at the cafeteria (apparently Andretta and the cafeteria workers caught wind of me being mated to Matt the Wolfishly Clingy Alpha werewolf and made sure that I not only got myself a good plate of food but be dealt with little distractions, hence being assigned a beefy Delta warrior who's married to Andretta's daughter, a siren).
I was definitely not used to the sudden perks of being a male Luna to a sexy diver, folks, much less given any perks at all since my parents always said that I never deserved any perks at all since I was, and I quote you, "a spineless runt who just needs to die in an alley somewhere and let the REAL Lemieux clan rule the world with an iron fist."
And back then, I believed it. I settled for the lesser things in life- from hand-me-down clothing bought at a secondhand store to always scrabbling around for leftovers when the family got to eat out at the fancy restaurants to having to walk to school on rainy days, even when I got sick and yet having to go into tough it out by threats of the principal.
I was okay with being a wallflower, even if it meant being prepared to die as one at an early age.
But now, I was in Massachusetts and being thrust into the spotlight after, and again I quote you, "nailing the finest and sexiest Alpha stud of all the community." And now that I'm beginning to get the VIP treatment, I'm starting to wonder how to diffuse all of this quickly.
I needed answers, and fast.
My cellphone rang, snapping me out of my thoughts. I let out a small groan to see Mom's name flash on the screen. "And good afternoon to you, Mother," I said, keeping the tiredness and exasperation out of my voice.
"My son has landed a fine catch!" I heard her trill cheerfully. "I didn't know that you're tasting the rainbow and are currently dating Mrs. Rosseaux-Yanez's son! Ooh, wee! This changes everything!"
Oh, fuck! My parents know.
"Quite right, my dear," I heard Father cheer happily as he took the phone from her. "Son, I'm proud of you for finally coming out of your shell. I mean, I was starting to worry if you're going to come back a virgin and without a girlfriend- which is now moot since you're in bed with the headmistress's son."
"Wait, how did you know?!" I exclaimed, sitting up as my designated guard came to my side. "I thought-"
"It's trending all on social media," I heard Tiana say over the background. "And that Matt brotha is fine as hell! Does he have any brothers that Fiana and I can share?"
"Does he have any cousins?" Mi'Chelle's eager voice ask me. "I need some of whatever you used to lure in one of those studs!"
"Enough!" I heard Uncle Cameron say tersely as he then took over.
I sighed, already knowing that my homophobic uncle was ready to send me to conversion camp. I took a deep breath, ready for the worst.
"I'm...so...proud of you!" he boomed happily, making my mouth drop wide open. "All right, Thierry! This is when you'll need to start dressing more provocatively to make sure that the headmistress's son remains with you. Don't let anyone else claim him. My nephew's finally not a wimp!"
"Let me call you back," I said weakly as I heard the Call Waiting beep. Grandma Dru. "We'll talk."
After a few more words of appreciation, I called back Grandma Dru and was ready for her to scream at me. "Hello?" I said.
"Baby, how are you?" she asked me softly.
"Fine, Grandma, just a bit unnerved," I admitted. "Look, I don't know if you know about the situation with me right now, but-"
"I know about it," she cut me off. "Mrs. Rosseaux-Yanez gave me the heads-up about everything- including the supernatural and how you're mated to her son."
Now that's a punch in the gut that I didn't expect, folks! "You know?!" I exclaimed. "Does the rest-"
"Yes they do, and they'll keep their mouths shut if they value their lives. Now, I plan to come up there in a few weeks as I have something to share with you regarding all of this myself. And your family knows it as well, hence their reactions. And Thierry?"
"Yes, ma'am?"
"Use plenty of condoms and lube. I'm not ready to be a great-grandmother yet."
She laughed before the line disconnected, leaving me dazed and confused. And you think you know your family, folks. Yep, this calls for some advice from the Red Rose Queens and some information to prepare for what's next.
Aquilla, can you and the others meet me at the cafe later? I need to talk to you about something, I texted.
Sure thing, Luna, the text replied. And if it's about what you need to know, then this calls for Motha Vivacious. Meet me at your apartment in ten. I'll pick you up.
Thanks.
It's good to have some allies on hand, folks. Because I'm in need of some good ones right now. Let's move on, shall we?
How do you like those apples? Are you as gagged as I was when writing this? Well, stick around because Thierry is in for a crash course in the supernatural world!
Dedicating this to grouchstories and kherdeeniasse! No song for this chapter.
