EP.196|The Fates Decide
࿇ ══━━━━✥◈✥━━━━══ ࿇
The next morning, the girls decided to meet up in the hots springs the NPA held. Evie walked in to see Mal, Operetta, and CJ were chatting. Mal noticed her best friend walked, smirking as she noticed the difference in smell.
“Well, well, well, look at that, the mate of the fire dragon.” Mal snickered, Evie blushed, putting up her hair before discarding her robe.
“Let’s see the mark!” Operetta scooted towards her, moving the stands of dark blue hair to reveal her mark. It was a bright flame with a sapphire in the middle.
“Damn, he didn't just mark you, there are hickeys all down your body,” CJ chuckled, Evie’s blushed even more. “Ooh~ last night, Jasper was just...oooh! He was amazing!” Evie sunk down in the water.
“He decorated his father’s master bedroom in roses and lilies! It was amazing!”
Meanwhile, Jasper sat at the bar, telling the boys what happened last night.
“Well damn, Jasper! Don't go killing my wife’s best friend too much! She still needs to walk.” Ben laughed, patting Jasper on the back. “So what her mark look like?” Carlos asked.
“A flame surrounding a sapphire,” Jasper replied. “I’m proud of you Jasper,” Hunter smiled, ruffling Jasper’s hair, his head perked up when he felt Operetta enter the room.
“Oh joy, miss mate’s here…” Geyu groaned, rolling his eyes. “Hush, he loves Operetta more than anything,” Brazzan smirked.
“Good morning my demon.” Operetta whispered tenderly. “How were the hot springs?” He asked. “Relaxing.” CJ yawned, sitting in her boyfriend’s lap. “Hey, Carlos.” CJ sat in his lap.
Carlos licked his lips, resting his chin on her shoulder. He looked at her mark and smirked, licking it, CJ shivered. “Car-Carlos!” CJ squeaked, “look, baby, can we talk?” CJ leads him outside onto the patio.
“I thought you liked why I did that, I didn't think it be the reason you break up with me…” Carlos whimpered. CJ chuckled and kissed his lips, “break up with you? Please! I would never leave you!”
She sat on the railing, wrapping her arms around Carlos, “your mom told me you wanted to have kids with me. She said you were so scared to tell me because you thought I’d leave.”
“Are you?”
CJ giggled and shook her head, “no, I’m not leaving, Carlos I want kids with you too.”
“So, when should we start trying?”
“How about now?” CJ suggested. Carlos smirked and leaned in for a kiss, CJ smiled and kissed back, “I didn't mean right now.” CJ laughed, hooking her arms behind his neck. “Why…~” Carlos pouted, kissing her neck, CJ tilted her head, allowing more access “princesa~ I love you.”
“How much?” CJ smirked, his hands then ran up her thighs, gripping them slightly only to make CJ gasp in pleasure. “More than life itself,” Carlos kisses lead down to her chest, “more than I loved anyone.”
Her gripped her breast softly, knowing that was her weak spot, CJ tried to muffle a moan but Carlos was determined to make her scream his name. “CJ~” he purred in her ear, nibbling at her earlobe.
“Carlos,” Ben’s voice interrupted them. Carlos growled, holding CJ semi-close to him. “Will you chill? You can make out with CJ later, we need to visit Freddie.”
CJ murmured some curse words in Spanish, letting CJ hop down from the railing, “let’s visit Freddie he said…” Carlos muttered, passing by Ben who slapped him behind his head.
“Be nice,” Ben growled, Carlos didn't growl back because Alvarez and Carlos both knew Ben and Zypher were more dominant in away.
The group walked to the infirmary to see Freddie sitting by what seemed to be a large tank filled with bluish-green water. Inside the water, and unconscious Zeref floated.
“Freddie,” Mal said delicately, resting her hand on her shoulder, “how are you doing honey.”
“Fine, I guess…” Freddie sighed, her eyes were sunken, she looked like she hadn't slept in days. “Actually,” Freddie raked backed her hair “I’ve never been so worried about Zeref…”
“What’s wrong with him? Why is he in a tank?” Ben asked, tapping on the glass slightly. “According to Hades and Persephone, his immortality genes are on the haywire. It’s like it doesn't know if it wants to turn on or off.” Freddie explained.
“But shouldn’t the gene be off since he lost his immortality?” Operetta questioned. “That’s what I thought but by the looks of it, Zeref’s immortality isn't gone.” Freddie walked up to the tank, putting her hand on it.
“What’s with the water though?” Carlos climbed up the ladder against the tank, taking him to the top. He scooped some of the water in his hands, tasting it, “what kind of water is this?”
“It’s from the Acheron River, it has some certain healing property that numbs the pain Zeref’s body going through.” Freddie began to explain. “Pain? He’s asleep?” Operetta scoffed a little.
“He’s in a coma, the immortality genes is clashing with his other genes for dominance, causing the immense pain.” Freddie continued. “How long is this gonna last?” CJ asked. “I don't know until the gods decide what to do with him.” Freddie frowned.
“Actually, we can't decide this time,” Hades said, everyone looked towards the doorway to see Hades, Persephone, Lycia, Pain, and Panic.
“What do you mean you can't decide?” Freddie began to worry. “When an immortality case comes to the gods and goddess, the first time we can decide. When that same case comes to us, we have to send it to the Fates to decide.” Persephone explained.
“Who the hell are the Fates?” Freddie asked harshly. “Very high beings, they decide a lot of important decisions in our world,” Lycia said.
“So they’ll just come here and decide if Zeref gets his immortality! Easy peasy!” Freddie smiled. “Not so fast, Freddie,” Pain sighed, “the fates look over Zeref’s history, past, thought, memories, experiences, everything, to determine if he gets it back.”
“And if they see Young Master Zeref’s past where he killed Facilier Sr. they’re not gonna be so found on the idea of giving him immortality.” Panic warned.
“Okay, Zeref said he would find being just a mortal, at least the pain will stop.” Freddie shrugged. “No, Freddie, if they see that Zeref was an assassin and killed all those people, they’ll deem him unworthy of not only being a god but being alive in general.”
“So...you saying...Ze-Zeref could di-die?!”
“Yes, but-”
“No way! I’m not letting some weirdo fates kill my boyfriend for something he did in the past! He atoned for his sins, that has to mean something right?” Freddie felt the tears forming in her eyes.
“It might, but we have no clue what they’ll decide,” Hades said. “They’re arriving today at noon, we’ll do everything we can to make sure Zeref stays alive, immortality or not,” Persephone assured her, hugging Freddie.
Freddie sniffled and nodded, “thank you…”
The VKs and Zeref’s family left a while after, giving Freddie and Zeref some alone time. “I can't lose you Zeref…” Freddie muttered, sitting against the glass, “you’re the first person I’ve ever loved if I lose you I-I-I don't know what I’d do with myself.”
Freddie let the tears roll down her cheek, “I know you don't care if you’re immortal or not but you can end up dying…”
“But I won't stop fighting for you, I’ll show those fates your not the assassin you were before!” Freddie stood up, placing her hand where Zeref’s was, “I know you changed, we all do, but we just gotta show the Fates.”
~B~
Later on that day, Freddie stood by the NPA door with Hades and Persephone, waiting to welcome the Fates.
“Where are they?” Freddie tapped her foot impatiently. “They’ll be here, don't worry, everything will be okay.” Hades tried to assure the restless girl.
Freddie was about to say something else but a large gust of black wind interrupted her. Once the wind died down, 3 women stood before them.
“We are the fates,” the first girl spoke. She was a beautiful young lady with shoulder lengthed ashen hair, a dark pink bow at the end of a twisted braid. She has piercing amber-red eyes that would scare the hell out of anyone.
She wore a black sailor-like uniform with 10 yellow buttons on the side of the dress. Placed before the last button, she wore a silver belt. And on her hand, she wore white gloves.
“I’m Emery,” she pointed to the girl to her left, “that’s Yunji,” she then pointed to the girl on her right, “that’s Keyoki.”
Keyoki is a curvaceous young woman with fair skin and round, light green eyes with notably long eyelashes, a small mole beneath each of them.
She has long, pale pink hair that fades into a neon green color at the halfway point, which she wears in three thick braids with five shorter clumps hanging over her face like bangs.
When she was trying to get married, her hair was dyed black in an attempt to make herself look more "normal."
Keyoki wears a modified version of the standard uniform; the breast area is left unbuttoned to accommodate her chest size and she wears a short skirt in place of the usual hakama, and a plain white haori.
As well as this, she wears a pair of navy blue thigh-high socks, over which she also sports the striped lime green socks with laced pink footwear.
Yunji is a petite girl with pale skin and large compound-looking eyes that do not possess pupils, only a haze of gradient, purple iris that becomes darker, the lower it goes, which made her eyes appear similar to those of bugs.
She had shoulder-length hair that faded from black into dark purple, usually fastened at the back of her head into a "yakai-maki" style, with a white and purple butterfly ornament with split ear-length bangs that rose a little away from her head before they fell down to frame her face, with two thinner chin-length strands below them.
“I thought the fates were old,” Panic whispered. “Did you say something? You pitful excuse for a demon.” Emery hissed. Panic gulped, “nothing miss!” he hid behind Hades.
“Wow! The NPA was updated since I was last here.” Keyoki beamed, Freddie was surprised at how perky she was. “Keyoki, calm down, we have a job to do.” Yunji reminds her.
“Oh yeah!” Keyoki giggled, “where’s Zeref?”
“Right this way misses,” Freddie opened the door, trying to walk through but Emery pushed her out of the way “ugh, mortals.”
Freddie growled softly, scrunching up her fist. “Sorry for Emery,” Yunji apologized, helping Freddie up “she hates mortals.”
“I can tell,” Freddie replied, walking alongside Keyoki and Yunji. “I really do hope you decide on not killing Zeref,” Freddie muttered.
“Yunji and I have known Zeref since he was a baby, we’ve seen how he’s grown. Emery, however, still doesn't trust anybody in the Hades’s family.” Keyoki sighed.
“Why?”
“She says it’s because of their uncouthness, but we all know it’s because she hates the fact Persephone’s his wife,” Yunji whispered.
Freddie snicked a little, entering back into Zeref’s infirmary room. “Where’s Thalia?” Emery looked around for the goddess. “Her and Zeref broke up, why would she be here?” Freddie rubbed off the smudge Emery felt on Zeref’s tank.
“Who’s he dating now?”
“Me,” Freddie replied, smiling. “You?” Emery snorted judgingly, “a mortal? That simply won't do.”
“Why is that? Why do you have a problem with me and Zeref dating?” Freddie scowled. “Because,” Emery walked towards her, leaning in to say “gods don't date mortals.”
“Well this god dose!” Freddie stated, “he loves me and I love him!”
“Love?” She snorted again, “gods don't love mortals, honey, he’s most likely using you for something.”
“Zeref wouldn't do that,” Freddie growled, scrunching up her fist, her magic swirling around it, “he’s been devoted to me since the beginning!”
Her medallion began to glow, bringing Emery’s attention towards it. “A Tamaki user, haven’t seen those since...wait,” Emery eyes widened, “mortal, what’s your name?”
“Freddie Facilier.” She gritted through her clenched teeth. “Well, now it makes sense, your Facilier’s kid aren’t you?” Emery smirked. “Yes,” Freddie frowned her eyebrows, “what of it?”
“You’re father’s medallion and the Tamaki you receive from it, are one of the world most valuable items in the magic world, wouldn't it make sense that Zeref, a god, would want a magic item like that?” Emery explained, watching Freddie’s facial features change to that of concern.
“He’s using you for the tam-”
“Emery! Stop!” Yunji declared, Emery scoffed and turned away from the other fate sister. “We’re here to decide Zeref’s immortality fate, not judge his love decisions if he wants to love Freddie let them love each other.” Keyoki smiled at Freddie.
“Sheesh, you’re so stuck in the olden times you haven’t seen how the world has changed.” Yunji rolled her eyes.
“Whatever,” Emery flipped her hair, “let’s just get this over with so I can go home.”
Keyoki kissed Freddie’s forehead. Freddie was astonished by how much peace it brought to her, “don't worry, Freddie, Emery won't stop us for helping Zeref.”
“Thank you,” Freddie whispered. Keyoki smiled and winked, joining her sisters at the top of the tank. “So, do we just stick our hands in or what?” Keyoki had a giddy smile on her face.
Fun fact; this was Keyoki’s first time doing an immortality judgment screening.
“It’s more complicated than that, bimbo.” Emery rolled her eyes, “we have to look through everything Zeref did in his life and see if it’s worthy or not of immortality,” Emery then muttered under her breath, “or even of life.”
“How long will this take sister?” Persephone asked. “Maybe a couple of days, your bae had a pretty big life, plus, I’m pretty sure we’ll be seeing a lot of you in his memories,” Yunji smirked.
Freddie blushed, playing with her hair. “Mortals are so delicate with emotions,” Emery muttered, Keyoki kicked her shin. “Stop being so mean.” Keyoki gritted through her teeth.
“Let’s go.” Emery dunked her hand into the water, the sister’s eyes glowed white, entering Zeref’s mind.
Keyoki jumped on the balls of her feet, excited as she looked around Zeref’s mind. Memories floated around in an endless maze. “Yay! It worked!” Keyoki cheered. “Oooh! Can we start with this one Emery! Pretty please!”
Emmery saw she was pointed to a memory ball marked, “a lovers meeting.” Emery gaged and rolled her eyes, “start wherever you want, we need to split up anyway since they’re so many memories.”
“I’m going for the dark ones,” Emery smirked devilishly.
“Emo chick,” Yunji muttered. “I’ll start on childhood, and it looks Keyoki took the teenage and romantic ones.”
Keyoki grabbed one off the memorize balls, tapping on it to play the memory.
Zeref sat in Potions class, watching Freddie mix potions with CJ. “Zeref!” Ben snapped his fingers in his face. “Wha? Oh, yeah, pour stuff…” Zeref went back to watching Freddie.
“She’s so pretty…” Zeref was on cloud 9 just by watching her movements. “Uh-huh, Zeref, we have to make this potion or Jasmine will kill us.” Ben reminded him. “That’s great, yeah you keep working on that…” Zeref couldn't keep his eye off her.
Once he and Freddie locked eyes, the two blushed and looked away.
Keyoki giggled once the memory ended, “so cute,” she sighed, she wondered if she would ever find a love like that.
Keyoki picked up another memory and pressed play.
“Freddie,” Zeref whispered, crouching beside her bed, holding a little cupcake with a candle on top, “wake up.”
“Mmhm...baby, it’s too early.” She turned to her side, trying to shield herself from the beaming sun. “Freddie, come on, wake up.” Zeref pinched her cheeks.
“What?” Freddie groaned, sitting up to see Zeref with the birthday cupcake. “Happy birthday baby!” Zeref cheered. Freddie smiled and kissed him, “you remembered my birthday!”
“Of course I do!” Zeref tackled her to the bed. “So, m’lady, what shall we do for your birthday? I was thinking I’d spoil you with kisses first.” Zeref placed butterfly kisses along her face and neck.
“Zeref!” Freddie laughed, wrapping her body around him. “I’m sorry, am I not supposed to spoil my m’lady on her birthday?” Zeref tilted her head. “Okay, spoil me!” Freddie giggled, putting the covers over both of them.
“Awe, who knew Zeref was such a romantic.” Keyoki gushed. “How’s his childhood memories?” Keyoki asked.
“He was a good brother, take a look at this one.” Yunji threw the memory ball at her, pressing play.
“Oooh, Hades, I swear, when this kid is out of me - AH! - I’m gonna kill you!” Persephone yelled, clutching Hades’ hand. “Okay hun, kinda holding on a little strong!” Hades tried not to cry.
“Oh, am I? If you haven’t noticed Hades -- AGH! -- I’m pushing your kid out of me!” Persephone growled, digging her nails into Hades’ hand. “Just a couple more pushes, Persephone.” the nurse instructed.
“A couple more pushes, she said, oh it’s not like I’m in pain or anything!” Persephone scolded, giving one final push before she heard the newborn baby crying.
“Phew…” Persephone laid down, trying to catch her breath. “No more kids.” Persephone chuckled, holding the baby in her arms.
“Hi darling,” Persephone cooed, “you’re just adorable, why yes you are, yes you are.”
“What are we naming her?” Hades asked. “How about...Lycia.” Persephone smiled.
“I love it,” Hades kissed her lips, “and I love you.”
There was a soft knock on the door, it then opened to reveal a small Zeref, “Is that her?” Zeref, pain and Panic peaked their heads trough the door.
“Yes, Zeref, this is Lycia, your little sister.” Hades introduced, passing Lycia to Zeref. “Why is she so small?” Zeref tilted his head.
“Cause she’s a baby,” Persephone yawned, “when she’s older, she’ll grow.”
“How are you feeling Mistress Persephone?” Panic asked sincerely. “Well panic,” Persephone sat up, “push a human trough you and then ask me if I’m okay.”
“She’s kinda catty when she’s in pain.” Pain muttered. “I know,” Hades whispered, chuckling a little. Persephone glared at them, “did I hear you say something?”
“Nothing, dear.” Hades chuckled nervously. “Good, now, I’m going to sleep, make sure our baby doesn't die.” Persephone yawned, pulling the covers over herself.
Hades noticed Zeref sitting on the hospital couch “and when you’re grown up, I’ll show you how to use magic!”
Lycia guggled, “you like that don't you Lyly?” Zeref laughed when Lycia tried to respond but a cute yawn came out instead. “You’re right, I’m tired too,” Zeref laid down on the couch, holding Lycia on his chest “good night, little sis…”
“What a good brother,” Yunji smiled. “I have all the evidence I need, let’s go,” Emery smirked, holding a black ball in her hand.
“What’s that?” Keyoki asked. “None of your business.” Emery hissed, Keyoki pouted a little, the three leaving Zeref’s mind.
The sister’s eyes turned back to normal, pulling their arms out of the water. They wiped their hands, coming down from the ladders.
“Well, can he get his immortality? Huh? Huh?” Freddie asked eagerly, gripping Emery’s clothes. “Get your hands off of me, disgusting mortal!” Emery pushed her off her.
“We have to run through the evidence again.” Yunji heled her hands, “I’ve seen his memories, Keyoki and I know he’s changed, however, miss ‘I hate mortals’ might not.”
“How long with that take?” Facilier asked. “Maybe a day, there’s a lot of evidence, especially the memories with your daughter in them.” Keyoki winked.
“Well, since your staying for a while, do you mind healing some of our members? I’ve heard you’re expert healers.” Acadia wagered.
“I’m not healing mortals.” Emery flipped her hair, dropping her bags in Acadia’s arms, “show me to my room, mother mortal.”
Acadia had half a mind to slap Emery upside the head, but Facilier held her back. Acadia growled and showed Emery to her room.
“Follow me, Miss Keyoki and Miss Yunji.” Facilier leads Yunji, Keyoki, Lycia, and Freddie to the other side of the infirmary to see the little kids.
“Hello, kiddos! I brought some special guests today.” Facilier announced as he motioned Yunji to enter. “This is miss Yunji, she’s one of the Fates.”
“Miss Yunji!” one little girl raised her hand, “will you show us how to heal?”
“Sure, but let me heal you all first.” Yunji chuckled, letting the kids line up.
Lycia dropped her books, “no…” she pushed Keyoki out of the way, to reveal a jaguar playing with the kids. “Le-Levi?”
The jaguar stopped playing, turning slowly towards the voice to see it was Lycia. The jaguar chipped and ran towards Lycia, tackling her.
“Lyly! Lyly! Oh my precious baby, Lyly!” Levi licked her face. He morphed back into a human, tears streaming down his face, “It’s really you!”
“Levi,” Lycia cried, “never, ever, leave me.” she stood up, kissing him softly. The kids awed, Lycia and Levi laughed.
“They’re so adorable!” one kid gushed. “I’m so happy for you.” another smiled.
“You two know each other?” Freddie asked. “She’s my mate!” Levi kissed her cheek, sighing as he took in her smell.
“Awe! This is the mate you looked for all those years, Levi!” Carlos smiled, walking past the room. “Yes,” Levi clenched her bottom, “don't worry,” he leaned in and whispered, “we have so much to catch up on~”
“Let’s leave these two alone,” Facilier let the two be alone. “Keyoki, for you I need your help with one person in particular,” Facilier said.
“I’m sure I can help.” Keyoki smiled brightly. “A little insight on the patient, he lost a lot during the attack Araden/Geyu put on the villain islands,” Facilier said, “he was the alpha of my friends Caleb’s pack, they lost a lot of wolfs to Feral Spray.”
“Oh no…”
“Including his mate. Sure it happened about 3 months ago, but he’s still hurting, we’ve heard you’ve been able to lift people spirts in just one visit.” Caleb smiled at Keyoki, “hello, I’m Caleb, and this is my mate, Didi,”
“A vampire? I’ve never seen one outside Transilvania!” Keyoki gasped. Didi chuckled, “thank you, I’m just a regular vampire.”
“Anyways,” Didi chuckled even more, “are you sure you’ll be able to help our alpha?”
“Yes,” Keyoki smiled, opening the door to reveal a very dark room. The smell of sakura flowers trickled across the alpha’s nose.
“What smell is that?! It’s beautiful! Get it, get it, get it!” his wolf begged. “Go to sleep…” the alpha groaned when Keyoki opened the curtains.
“Close the curtains.” The alpha growled. “No!” Keyoki stated, “we’re going to get up and start the day!”
“Get out.” the alpha barked at her. “Don't bark at me!” Keyoki glared at him, “I’m trying to help!”
“You do know I’m alpha, right?” the alpha boasted. “And you do know I’m a Fate right?” Keyoki replied in the same snarky tone.
“I’m Bacchus.” Bacchus introduced. “I’m Keyoki,” the shook hands, Bacchus could smell her so clearly, “I’ll be your caretaker.”
“Hhmm,” Bacchus squeezed her breast, “squishy.”
“Bacc-Bacchus!” Keyoki blushed madly, Bacchus chuckled. “Ah, you’re a blusher, I’m gonna have so much fun with you.”
A knock at the door, Bacchus growled. “Leave us be!” Bacchus growled.
“U-Uh, Al-Alpha! They’re summ-summoning Keyoki!” Didi stuttered. Bacchus sighed and kissed her cheek, “till we meet again.”
Keyoki blushed and touched her cheek, “bye-bye!” Keyoki ran out of the room and back to Zeref’s.
“Everything okay, Keyoki?”
“N-no! O-oh! I found the perfect person...there’s a connection between us, even though we just met I can feel it!”
“Okay...anyways, we need to decide this mortals fate,” Emery said. “Immortality.” Keyoki and Yunji replied.
“More like death, he an assassin, sisters, we can not allow someone like this to roam the earth.” Emery played the memory of when he killed Facilier Sr.
“Bu-But-” Emery cut her off. “I don't wanna hear it! He’s dangerous.” Emery smirked, she found it amusing she would be ending the life of Zeref’s son.
Emery brought out a pair of black scissors, “give me Zeref’s line.” a gold string appeared in front of Emery.
A wicked smile on her face appeared as she inched the scissors closer to the string, “put down those scissors, Emery!”
She stopped at the sound of Healer’s voice. “That boy has no right to be an immortal, let alone be alive.” Emery snarled.
“You’re judgment’s clouded by your hate of Hades’ family.” Healer smirked, “therefore, you cannot rule a clear verdict, meaning your off the trail.”
“You can't do that!” Emery stood up from her chair. Healer rolled up her sleeves, slamming her hands down by Emery.
Keyoki and Yunji couldn't hear what Healer said, but by the look of Emery’s pale face, it shook her to her core.
“U-Um...Zer-Zeref ca-can keep hi-his immortality.” Emery stuttered, quickly grabbing her bags and running out the room.
“What did you say to her, Healer?” Freddie asked. “Don't worry about it, darling,” Healer kissed her forehead, “just go celebrate with your boyfriend.”
Freddie, needing no further influence, rushed over to Zeref tank to see his eyes shot open. He quickly swam to the top to meet Freddie at the ladder. Freddie, with tears in her eyes, hugged the god.
“Wha...What happened?” Zeref coughed up a little bit of the water. “A lot my love, but don't worry,” Freddie kissed his lips, Zeref sighed, the entire time he was knocked out all he wanted to kiss her, “I never left your side.”
