EP.149|Frozen Spider
Operetta couldn't believe it. Her childhood home was broken, damaged, destroyed.
Tears began to stream slowly down her face. Slowly walking in, Operetta saw her childhood breaking right in front of her.
She looked at the pictures on top of the fireplace to see pictures of Operetta, and Christine with the frame cracked. I remember that day… Operetta reminisce.
It was a warm summer day, Operetta saw her mom in her office making some potion.
“Mama,” 5 year old Operetta stood on the step stool to reach the height of the counter “whatcha doing?”
“Well, I’m making a potion for a dragon,” Christine reached up to the cupboard and brought out a jar of what seemed dead tentacles.
She dropped into the cauldron, turning it green “his scales seem to be losing their color and falling off.” Operetta sniffed the potion, it smelled like rotten fish “ugh! That smells horrible.”
“Hand me those flowers.” Operetta passed her mother the cherry blossoms, putting them in the cauldron, turning it pink. The potion began smelling a lot better “smells better?” Operetta nodded.
Christine poured the potion into a vile, putting it in her bag “you wanna come with me to deliver it?” Operetta nodded excitedly.
Operetta put on her jacket and grabbed Perdita and the three left the house “so where does the dragon live?” Operetta asked. “In the Dragon Islands. He’s a king.” Christine smiled.
“We get to meet royalty?!” Operetta’s eyes glistened. “Yep,” Christine ruffled Operetta’s red hair “my friend Faybelle is living with the king for an assignment.”
“Are they in love like you and daddy?” Operetta questioned. “I’d like to think so. None of them will admit it though.” Christine chuckled as they reached a door with a dragon symbol on it.
They stepped inside and was transported into the Dragon King, Zephron, castle to see him in his bed with a tired look on his face. Faybelle spoon feeding him soup.
“Thank the gods and goddesses you’re here. Zephron is getting on my nerves.” Faybelle rolled her eyes. “Come on, Fairy Girl,” a cough interrupted him, “you know you love me.”
Christine and Operetta noticed Faybelle blushing “ya whatever, and stop calling me Fairy Girl!” Faybelle left the room to go get more soup.
“So, you’re the famous Dragon King Faybelle been raving about.” Christine sat next to him, taking out the pink potion from her bag. “Yep, that me.” Christine noticed the scales on his body began losing color.
“Faybelle told me you got bit by some Xezers, aren’t those deadly to dragons?” Christine asked, Zephron nodded.
“But, Faybelle decided to run off and a swarm of Xezers began surrounding her,” Zephron looked down at his hands “I don't know what happened to me but the dragon inside me took control and began attacking all of them.”
“All I wanted to do in that moment was protect Faybelle,” he looked at the picture of him and Faybelle on his dresser and smiled “I don't know what it is about her but she makes me laugh and smile.”
“She’s really special huh?” Operetta asked, sitting at the foot of Zephron’s bed. “More than you know, shorty.” Zephron chuckled. “So do you love her?” Operetta questioned.
Zephron blushed “look tiny human, I never said that!” Christine started laughing “sounds like you do love her.”
“Okay, this is the problem with you humans, you just assume everything. You think I love Faybelle,” Zephron then stopped when Faybelle walked in, her hair tied up in a messy bun.
“Who do you love?” Faybelle asked. Zephron blushed more “u-um…” he frantically looked around the room.
“I love...um,” he picked up the picture of him and Zephron “I love how silly you look in this picture.”
Faybelle laughed “you’re the one who told me to do a silly face.” she sat down on the bed, feeding him more soup.
Christine poured the potion on his scales, making him roar out in pain. Operetta quickly hid behind her mother. “Why the fuck did that hurt so much?!” Zephron cursed.
“Zephron! Don't cure in front of kids!” Faybelle scolded “and it wouldn't hurt so much if you didn't go out there and throw yourself into a swarm of Xezers.”
“Well I wouldn't have to if you didn't run off,” Christine poured the potion on again, and once again, Zephron roared out in pain “what the hell lady!”
“Do you want to get better?” Christine glared at him, it was the same glare Operetta would receive when she got in trouble “yes mam” Zephron shuddered.
“And I wouldn't have ran off if you didn't start yelling at me and destroying stuff!” Faybelle shot back. “Maybe you should get thicker skin.” Zephron scoffed.
“Maybe you should control your temper!”
“Well maybe you should,” Zephron looked into Faybelle’s eyes. “Damn, why is she so hot when she’s mad!” Zephron looked away.
“What’s wrong Zephron, Fairy Girl got ya tongue.” Faybelle teased. Zephron rolled his eyes “shut up, just...don't run off like that again okay. I got really worried.” Zephron said, blushing a bit.
He was worried…about me? Faybelle blushed as well “fine, I’m sorry I ran off.”
“Awe crap, I’m out of potion. Can I use your kitchen so I can make more?” Christine asked, Zephron nodded. “Faybelle, come on, you’re gonna help me.”
“Why do I have to help? I don't know how to make potions.” Faybelle groaned, Christine shot her the glare that said; you better come help me make this potion or so help me I will end you.
Faybelle gulped “fine, I’ll go help.” Faybelle followed Christine downstairs “Operetta, keep feeding him till I get back. Oh, and he’ll ask for jewels but don't give him any.”
“Mister Zephron,” Operetta fed him a spoonful of soup “why won't you tell Miss Faybelle you like her?”
“Well, tiny human, it’s because I don't like her.” Zephron answered, plain and simple. “But you look at her the same way my dad looks at mommy.” Operetta said.
“What do you mean?” Zephron asked. “Mommy says there’s always a twinkle in daddy’s eyes when he looks at her. It’s the same way you look at Miss Faybelle.” Operetta explained.
“It’s different for dragon, tiny human.” Zephron sighed. “How?” Operetta tilted her head. “Dragons have mates, when they find their mate they don't fall in love ever again, they stay devoted to that one person.” Zephron began, spoonful of soup “if I were to fall in love with Faybelle, that would make her my mate.”
“That doesn't sound like a bad thing, I mean, you really like Miss Faybelle, right?” Operetta asked. Zephron then spotted the bowl of sapphires, licking his lips “tiny human, pass me those sapphires.”
“Miss Faybelle said not to.” Operetta reminded him. “Is Faybelle the king?” Zephron smirked slyly. “No.” “exactly, plus, I won't answer your question till I get the sapphires.”
Operetta passed him the bowl of sapphires “are you gonna answer my question now?”
“I do like Faybelle, a lot, but what if things don't work out? I’ll never be all to find love again.” Zephron sighed, eating a handful of sapphires.
“Mommy says if you love someone and they love you back, you’ll be together forever.” Operetta smiled innocently. “Aren’t you listening, tiny human, it’s different for dragon.” Zephron reminded her.
“Mommy says love is the same for everyone, no matter the gender, age, religion, or nationality. Love is just love.” Operetta quoted. “You love quoting your mom huh?” Zephron asked, his mouth filled with sapphires.
“Mmhm.” Operetta nodded. “What if she doesn't feel the same way?” Zephron started to worry. “Mommy says if you love someone, tell them how you feel. If they don't love you back they’re plenty of fish in the sea.”
“I guess you’re right.” Zephron agreed, Perdita climbed up on Zephron’s lap, Zephron scooted back quickly “tiny human, what the hell is that?!”
“It’s a dog, don't they have them here in the Dragon Islands?” Operetta asked. “No! We have cats!” a black panther walked in and hissed at Perdita, making her jump into Operetta’s arms.
“Saber! Down boy! We don't hiss at visitors, unless they’re Ginger.” Faybelle chuckled, scratching behind Saber’s eyes making him purr.
Faybelle say Zephron eating sapphires and grabbed the water spray, squirting water at him “bad dragon! I thought I said no eating jewels, Celeste says they’ll only make the pain worse.”
Zephron growled lowly when Faybelle snatched the bowl away from him, “they’re better than this soup you’re forcing me to eat.”
“The soup helps you dummy, you need liquids, not sapphires.” Faybelle told him, “how’d you get these anyways?” “tiny human gave them to me.”
“I told you not to give him any.” Faybelle sighed. “Sorry Miss Faybelle, but if I didn't give them to him, he wouldn't answer my question.” Operetta said. “What question?” Faybelle asked.
“If Mister Zephron really loves-” Zephron stuffed sapphires in Operetta's mouth “to see if I really love sapphires.”
“Well I could have told you that.” Faybelle laughed “he's obsessed with them.”
“Yep. I just can't get enough of,” Faybelle then bent down, Zephron couldn't help stare at her butt “o-of the sap-sapphires.”
“Look, tiny human, yes I really like Faybelle but she can't know that!” Zephron said, Operetta put her finger over her lips
“It'll be our little secret.”
Operetta put back the broken picture and continued walking till she heard whimpering.
“Perdita?” Operetta walked into her old bedroom and looked under her bed to see Perdita shivering.
“Perdita! Baby come here.” once Perdita heard Operetta's voice ran out of the bed and into Operetta's arms.
“Honey what happened?” Operetta asked, Perdita's fur had splotches of blood on it.
“H-Hime, it-it's horrible!” Perdita stammered “sh-she ca-came in and des-destoryed every-everything.”
“She?” Operetta questioned. “Mmhm…” Perdita nodded. Operetta picked up Perdita and kept walking.
“Hello?” Operetta called out. “Operetta!?” she began running towards the voice to see Phantom healing Christine.
“Dad! Thank the gods and goddesses you're okay. What happened here?” Operetta placed Peredita down.
“Why don't you tell her, Phantom? Tell them how I crushed you and your wife.” Operetta knew that voice, it was a voice she never wanted to hear again.
“Willow.”
“Ladies and Gentleman, she’s been through 4 islands, lost her memory, forgot her precious mate, and almost married the demon king, only to come back home to her sweet dearest mommy.” Willow lifted up her chin, pinching her cheeks.
“You’re not my mother,” Operetta pointed to her mother “she is.”
“She left you when you were 6! You barely remember the times you had with her! Your father chose right when he remarried, he left his old life behind, the only thing he didn't leave behind was you and the memory of that bitch you preserved!” Willow yelled.
Operetta slapped her “never. Call my mother. A bitch ever again.” Operetta glared at her “my mother was the nicest person ever! I may not have remembered the times I’ve had with my mother, but I love her with all my heart!”
“And for your information, I preserved my mother’s memory because if I didn't, my father would forget about the one woman he fell head or heels for!” Operetta added, she knew Christine was the only woman Phantom will ever be with
Willow wasn’t even on the same level was Christine.
“Christine was the best thing that’s ever happened to Phantom. They were so in love that they decided to have a baby. They both took care of that baby girl and it grew up to be an amazing woman.”
“The day Christine left Phantom’s and that baby’s life, the baby was sad, and so was Phantom. But it was okay, the baby preserved Christine’s memory. That was the only thing that kept Phantom from losing his light.”
“That baby, was me”
“I helped him through the darkness. I preserved her memory. And I will destroy you for what you did to my mother.” Operetta pulled out her ice blade and charged at Willow.
Operetta flipped forward, slashing her with her blade, and the two fight, each parried the other's attacks successfully before Operetta flipped Willow over.
Willow stood back up, laughing menacingly, “Finally, I get to kill the Ice Princess.” Willow declared. Operetta raised her weapon in defiance.
Willow ran towards Operetta as she raises her weapon defensively before using her blade to draw an ice circle in the air, forming a force-field.
Ice shockwaves radiate from the center of the force-field as Willow tried, in vain, to saw through it. Operetta then knocked her back with a slash from her weapon.
Willow attempted another overhead swipe, but Operetta points her weapon downwards and lets the chainsaw simply run down the side of it, creating sparks but missing her completely.
She then spun and slashed Willow again, knocking her back. She flipped gracefully over him, slashing at Willow’s head and landing on the other side of her.
Willow got up and spun around, viciously swiping towards Operetta sideways with the chainsaw.
Operetta acrobatically lowers her body underneath it, dodging the blow and backflipping out of range before attacking in a series of slashes and stabs that throw Willow into the air and back onto the ground.
She flipped over Willow, facing her from another angle. Rising from the ground, Willow slashes at Operetta, but she ducked out of the way.
After attempting another overhead slash, which Operetta dodged again, Willow managed to briefly knock Operetta back after the two weapons clash.
However, Willow’s subsequent kick towards Operetta meets only a pile of boxes, as she leaps onto the ceiling.
Operetta spirals downwards with her weapon outstretched, but Willow stepped out of the way.
Operetta landed, before getting up, deflecting one of Willow’s attacks, performing a backflip and countering with a stab of her own, which sends Willow flying backwards.
As Willow stood back on her feet, holds her blade in front of her creating ice glyphs beneath herself.
Utilizing her speed powerup, Operetta charged forward and creates a series of ice glyphs that surround the Willow.
She leaped and begins ricocheting off each of the ice glyphs, slashing Willow extremely quickly each time she passed her, knocking Willow to the ground.
Creating another ice glyph, Operetta attempted to stab Willow where she lies, but Willow rolled backwards, preventing her from doing so.
She jumped in the air in order to attack Willow again, “c'mere, princess!” Willow yelled and grabs Operetta’s face before brutally raising her above Willow’s head and slamming her into the ground, causing debris to be flung around.
Willow then throws her into the air and slashed at her with her chainsaw before Operetta froze it.
“Nice try, spider girl! Ice Release: Ice Prison!” Operetta smirked many ice pillars which encircle Willow.
At her command, these pillars then move towards Willow, enveloping and crushing her.
Operetta breathed heavily “that’s new.” Adonis peaked out of Operetta’s hair, shivering “it’s okay Adonis, you can come out.” Adonis flew out, she then noticed Christine.
Adonis flew around Christine, a great light trailing behind him. Operetta then saw that the light began healing Christine.
Christine soon sat up slowly, groaning as she rested her hand on her forehead.
“What the hell happened…” Christine asked “last thing I remember was Willow destroying the house.”
Christine then got pissed “where the hell is she! I’ll kill her!” Christine got into a fighting position. “Operetta froze her.” Christine was surprised, she didn't know her daughter was so strong.
Christine hugged her tightly “my little girl so strong!!” Christine cheered. I forgot how hard she hugs. Operetta smiled.
“Operetta, I know I wasn’t there for the majority of your childhood, but I wanna be there now.” Christine kissed Operetta’s forehead.
Operetta began crying, maybe it was because of the mood swings or because she was just happy her mom was okay, who’s to say.
I wanna be just Christine with my kid. Operetta smiled more, placing her hand on her stomach. Don't worry kids, you’re gonna have the best mom.
