Dipper felt his heart drop when he heard the news about (Y/N). He stood there with his sister, who had broken down into tears.
"I'm sorry, kids." Their Great Uncle said, in the most sincere and soft voice he could ever have. But, 'sorry' wouldn't fix anything. Mabel's loud sobs broke out through the mystery shack, and Dipper couldn't help but feel like crying either. Their Grunkle looked at them in pity, he knew how much she meant to them, and there was nothing he could do to help them. All he could say was, "Her funeral's on Saturday, make sure you have clothes." and walked away. Sadly, Grunkle Stan was not the best in these kind of situations.
It was now Saturday, and people were all gathered around Gravity Falls Cemetery. Family members of (Y/N)'s, the Pines family, and some other people who knew her. The Pines didn't have the nicest funeral clothes, but Mabel made a black sweater, and wore other black accessories since she didn't have much black. Dipper wore a grey t-shirt and jeans, he took his hat off too. Grunkle Stan didn't change much, he still wore his suit, but took off his fez and other things. Everyone else had dresses and fancy things, but they didn't care. (Y/N) was the only one on the Pine's mind.
The person who was giving (Y/N)'s eulogy was her mother. Her face was red from crying, but she was trying to smile to seem strong. As she started talking, Dipper tried to listen, but his mind kept saying...
'You could've saved her.'
"What are you doing?" Dipper asked, laughing a bit.
"Hm?" (Y/N) looked up from her project with confusion. "What are you talking about?"
"That thing!" He giggled and copied what she was doing earlier. He curved out his bottom lip, and made a determined face, as if he was working really hard. (Y/N) blushed and giggled, she really hated that about herself.
"I dunno," her face still kind of pink, " it just happens." she shrugged.
Dipper felt a tear stroll down his cheek. She was always smiling, always positive, no one would never know how depressed she really was.
"Hey little guy," (Y/N) bent down to pick up the tiny creature. "Who are you?" She said in a kind, soft voice. It was a tiny wingless bat, with big sad eyes. It opened it's mouth and made a squeak. (Y/N) held the critter in her arms like you would a baby.
"(Y/N)!" Mabel called out, running towards her friend with that big smile on her face. "AWWW ITS SO CUTE! DIPPER LOOK!" Mabel squealed. Dipper walked over and smiled a little bit.
"Hey, I actually think I saw him in the journal." Dipper said, opening the journal and flipping through the pages. He landed on a page with a bat almost identical to the one (Y/N) was holding. "It's a wingless bat, that thrives on the love of others. When it's eyes are big and gloomy, it has not had any affection. When it's active and clingy, it's happy and content." Dipper read aloud.
"Well," (Y/N) smiled and cuddled the bat close to her face. "I'll give you all the love in the world."
The bat, who (Y/N) later named 'Jello', died as well. Jello couldn't take the loss of someone who cared for him so much. That's what Dipper felt like doing. After (Y/N) died, Dipper realized how much she meant to him. How much he needed her there with him. He didn't see the little things, the little signs that showed what she wanted to do. She wanted to kill herself.
(Y/N) smiled and waved at Dipper and Mabel as they walked away. They had just came back from a monster hunt. (Y/N) was one of the only people to know about the journal. Dipper and Mabel were extremely close to (Y/N) , but sometimes it didn't feel like that. Actually, she hadn't felt 'close' to them very recently at all. They acted so distant. (Y/N) noticed she had been a little more clingy than usual. She sadly walked into her room, and opened up the bottom dresser beside her bed. She moved around some underwear and socks, to take out a pocket knife. She hadn't used it much after she moved back to gravity falls. But after Dipper and Mabel started acting this way, (Y/N) realized it was the same way with her old friends. They would move on from her. She flipped up the biggest knife, and slit her wrist.
How did Dipper not notice? Now that he thought about it, there were multiple signs. (Y/N) started getting more distant, more secretive. She stoped contributing to our conversations, instead of talking, there was awkward silence. More tears fell down Dipper's face, and he started sobbing.
"After reading (Y/N)'s suicide letter," her mother continued, "I realize I should've been a better parent, because I had failed to see what was right in front of me. Apparently her friends didn't care for her, nor her family didn't care either. I'm sore all of us hold a lot of guilt and regret."
'Her friends didn't care for her?' Dipper replayed the sentence in his head. No. No. We cared for her! I cared for her! This has to be wrong! Dipper felt a flame in his soul; one that he wasn't going to douse.
Dipper then felt a hand lay on his shoulder. It was his Great Uncle.
"Come with me kiddo."
He brought Dipper away from the people, and bent down on one knee, putting his hands on Dipper's shoulders. Looking him straight in his eyes.
"Look, I saw the look you got. You're gonna go nights, no, weeks, trying to find a way that she didn't kill herself. It was...I dunno, murder, or somthin'. But, you have to move on. (Y/N) killed herself. There was nothing you could've done." He said, in a stern tone. Dipper started crying again, and fell into his great uncle's arms.
Stay tuned for part two! Thank you
