Chapter 6: Ask
'Kook!' His friend waved his arm, signaling his position. Jungkook turned and smiled, nodding and then turned back to the direction the girl had gone.
She was the girl from the other day.
'Jungkook, what's up?'
He began towards their seat, grinning at the boy. 'Hey, hyung.'
'What were you doing back there?' Namjoon ruffled Jungkook's hair. He was a few years older than Jungkook, in his second last year of school and there had not been a day when he couldn't rely on Namjoon.
'Nothing, I just-' Jungkook paused, unsure how to continue. Namjoon quietly waited for an answer. 'I thought I saw someone I knew.'
'And did you?' Namjoon looked up from his laptop screen.
'I don't know.' Jungkook sighed, and made up his mind. 'Hyung, have you ever felt this weird connection with anybody?'
His friend's eyes widened ever so slightly. Namjoon took a gulp of his tea and returned his attention to Jungkook. 'What do you mean?'
Jungkook shifted in his seat. 'Like... like you know somebody, but you've never met them?'
Namjoon cleared his throat. 'I don't understand.'
'Like a constant pull that keeps me on my toes, but then I freeze and suddenly I can't move.' Jungkook rubbed his hands together. 'And then my brain does this weird thing where I try to remember who she was and then I get a headache and-'
'She?' Namjoon had gone still in the midst of his ramble.
'Um,' Jungkook chuckled awkwardly. 'I didn't mean-'
'Who is this 'she' you speak of, Jungkook?' Namjoon's words took a dangerous edge that left Jungkook taken aback.
'What's wrong?' Jungkook asked, concerned but also worried he'd said something offensive.
Namjoon waved him off. 'Never mind.' He gave a reassuring smile. 'Drink your coffee, the ice is melting.'
Jungkook didn't look so sure.
