Doom's Tide

Philip's PoV

Never in my life would I have known what would come. If I ever found out what came to past, everything I did, I would have put the best of my abilities to fulfill my memories. I would not care if those memories were terrible because the next thing that happened to me was much worse. I can't comprehend those experiences. I can't get rid of those memories. I can't get rid of the scars. They're permanent.

It was June 3rd and the school year was almost ending and my friends and I were excited. Science MCAS was a breeze and we wouldn't have the dreaded SATs until next year, so this was the time to relax. What we all wished was just for the time in Summer to just stop. For it to not move. The Seniors of our high school, Gregor High School in the central part of North Dakota finally left, which made it less scary for us when walking in the halls. I hated the seniors anyways from Cross Country to Basketball to Tennis. They were always complete jerks because they knew I wasn't good with balls. No. Not THOSE balls. I mean basketballs and any used during sports.

"Hey, Dr. Phil! What's the best way to pin down a light weight in a wrestling match!?" My friend, Hans, asked.
"What'd I say about calling me Dr. Phil?" I asked him. I never liked that nickname because it made me sound like some know-it-all.
"You're smart as hell dude. It's an honorary title of course!" Hans joked as we headed to Early U.S. History.
"You know we have EUSH in a bit, right?" I asked him to make sure.
"What? You've got to be kidding me! And I thought this would be a nice half day!" Hans complained as he groaned.
"I know you hate Mrs. Santer." I told him.
"Thanks Captain Obvious." Hans muttered through his teeth as we entered the classroom.
"Hello Mrs. Santer." I said to her.
"Hello Philip!" She said in an over enthusiastic way.
"Hi Mrs. Santer." Hans said quietly.
"Mr. Heinrich!" She yelled at him.
"Y-yes?" Hans asked, stuttering a bit.
"Look at the person you're speaking to." She scolded him.
"Sorry miss." Hans said before entering her classroom.

"Now class. Today we'll be talking about the Civil War." Mrs. Santer started.
"In 1861, Fort Sumter was attacked by the Confederate forces which sparked the start of the conflict. From then on in the course of about 4 years led to the deaths of over 600,000 American lives. The most to ever be spilled on American soil." Mrs. Santer explained, showing images through the projector.
"Mrs. Santer." Hans said, raising his hand.
"Yes Hans." She said, pointing to him.
"If the most American lives lost through war on American soil was in the Civil War, why didn't they die in Russia where the Civil War happened?" Hans asked her. I shouldn't have laughed at his remark.
"Hans Heinrich! This is an Early US History class, why would we be talking about Russians!?" She asked him, enraged.
"Um... because they were Stalin in reformations of Serfdom?" Hans asked.
"No! It's because we're talking about America. Not Europe!" She corrected him.
"But isn't Russia in both Asia AND Europe?" Hans then asked, smiling as she became pissed.
"That's enough Heinrich. You know what I mean." She chided harshly at him as she continued the lesson.
"Anyways, by 1863, it looked like the Confederates had won the war. Then, General Lee, a famous general of the Confederates, led an invasion into the North in Pennsylvania. He was eventually stopped at Gettysburg by General Renolds." Mrs. Santer continued, showing photos of the famous men in the PowerPoint.
"But, General Meade of the United States reinforced Renold's forces, which allowed the North to get enough troops to drive the Confederates back South after General Pickett led a folly charge up Cemetary Ridge." Mrs. Santer finished as the bell rang.
"Complete your worksheet of notes and I'll see you tomorrow." Mrs. Santer stated as the kids rushed out of class to head home.

If only I walked slowly would I have avoided the situation I went through later on. What came next was something I truly regreted for the rest of my life.

"Hans! C'mon, let's head to my house!" I told him excitedly.
"Sure. Want to walk?" Hans asked me.
"Why not? We have time to walk, so let's go." I accepted as we walked.
"Awefully quiet, eh?" Hans asked me.
"Yeah. It's too quiet. It's... peculiar." I added.
"But we're almost there. I can see the turn up ahead." He pointed out, trying to hide his excitement. I could sense his excitement faintly, which was good for us since it's the end of the week.

"Hello there, kids." A monotonous voice said.
"What was that?" Hans asked as he pulled out his Sig Sauer.
"When did you have a gun?" I asked him curiously.
"2nd Amendment. Get your knowledge up to date about the country you're living in." Hans pointed out as he shot at a fence.
"Dude. Why'd you shoot the fence?" I asked him, getting panicked.
"I saw something Phil. Let's keep going because I don't like our situation." Hans said in a hushed voice as we continued quickly.
"Neither of you will escape." The voice said again.

"Holy shit. There are cloaked guys coming at us Phil!" Hans said as turned the corner, only to bump into one of them.
"Hans, the gun." I said instantaneously as I heard it drop several feet away.
"Shit." Hans muttered as the cloaked guys approached us.
"Not going anywhere." The voice said as one of them grabbed each of us, my phone dropping.
"This isn't good." I muttered to myself as they took us away before everything blacked out.

3rd PoV

"Two Freshman students at Gregor High School in North Dakota have gone missing just a few days ago. As far as we know, there is no evidence other than that of a Sig Sauer pistol and an iPhone 6s. According to Mr. Astrid, Philip's father, he says that it's his son's phone. As for the pistol, handprint detection points only towards Hans Heinrich, whom is either the kidnapper or friend. Philip's father denies Heinrich as a possible kidnapper as he knows he's a friend of his son, Philip. Both the North Dakota State police and East Bismarck town police are on the search to find the two Freshman. We will keep up to date on the search with ND News Station." The news reporter explained as the camera blackened to show a commercial.
