:Time Skip: (Age 10)

{Ayato's POV}

"I'm sorry Mother", I apologized after being slapped.

"Tch, you little brat, you dare to defy your mother!" Cordelia spat.

She gripped my hand, dragging me near a pond and throwing me in there while smirking with pleasure.

"MOTHER!!! HELP!!! PLEASE HELP!!!" I yelled with fear, she walked away, slowly laughing with Ritcher your uncle who glanced at you then turned away.

My whole body started to ache from trying to swim, however I started swallowing water and it was like a black hole, sucking me down to the bottom. I was about to close my eyes but then suddenly I felt a shadow grab my hand, swimming upwards.

{Akame (Your) POV}

You heard someone yelling help near the pond while you were dancing with the flowers. You saw Ayato's hand and without a thought, jumped in the pond to save him.

"AYATO!!!" You screamed with tears streaming down your face.

You pulled him out from the nasty waters. He was still breathing but it was very faint. You weren't really sure what to do so in a panic, you kissed him, forcing air and pressing his chest, making him spit out water.

He slowly opened his eyes and sat up, probably shocked to know he wasn't dead.

You hugged him, crying even more, except these tears were of joy.

"Thank goodness you're alive!" You said with bliss.

He started sheding tears too, however, not wanting you to see him cry, he snuggled his head to the right of your shoulder, whispering, "Thank you."

You guys stayed there for a while and while soothing him, you quietly said, "It's ok now Ayato-nii san. I'll always be here to save you."

{3rd POV}

Akame wasn't aware but that day, Ayato vowed to himself that he would protect you, for you are his sister, and maybe even a little more.

:Time Skip: (Age 12)

{Akame (Your) POV}

"Hmm...", you stood thinking about how you should decorate the cake for Kanato's birthday. "AHA!" An idea popped into your head as you decorated the cake with what you think Kanato would love.

|Later that day|

"Kanato-nii!" You yelled happily, skipping to his room to retrieve him.

"Akame?" He questions your enthusiasm towards him, for he never really gets much attention from his mother either.

Without saying much, you pulled him to the garden where all the Sakamakis jumped out from the rose bushes surprising him.

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY KANATO!" They all yelled in unison.

Kanato, eyes wide, was shocked.

The roses were whiter that day, the sunset was perfect, accompanied by the blue, purple, and orange sky.

"Akame, you didm't happen to make the cake yourself did you?" Kanato asked with uncertainty.

"I sure did nii-san!" You exclaimed with a bright smile.

{Kanato's POV}

'I didn't know what to say, everybody gathered here just to celebrate my birthday? Akame even made a cake with Teddy on it.'

Akame flashed me a smile.

I hugged her, wishing this sweet moment would never end. 

'Oh, how she didn't know, she made me so happy, making me realize, she was the one I needed, not my mother who could care less if I just died.'
