57: Final decision

Third person P.O.V
Despite bearing the eerie silence and his own dropping breathing that was more like coming out in gasps, he could hear some more voices, faint heartbeats along with two unsteady ones. He wanted to focus on them, but the chance ceased back when Minhyuk was suddenly groaning, not in anger like before, but instead in pain. Yes, that was the voice of pain he was craving to hear from the person who destroyed many things in his life.
Minhyuk grunted and tilted his head to find a sharp piece of vase pierced into his neck. Before he could attack back his attacker, his body was forcibly but with great struggles pushed onto the floor, another piece stabbing his chest with trembling hands.
"You!"
"DIE! DIE! DIE!" Jungkook had to force open his eyes on the voice of his pup, and those slits were wide the next moment he saw Taehyung stabbing Minhyuk's chest repeatedly with the piece of vase that was thrown over him by the older. The blood splattered all over his soft hoodie, and Minhyuk was too shocked to react, not expecting to see the human move.
Seems like Wangji did that, too. Using every last bit of power to make sure they could survive the nightmare. Jungkook didn't know if he should feel grateful for that or worried about the way Taehyung was crazily stabbing Minhyuk. The same boy who trembled violently at the sight of blood was bathing in it after his restraints were broken... his restraints of mental peace... restraints of moral support... his strength broken into pieces of minute size to even pick up again.
"YOU KILLED THEM ALL! I'LL KILL YOU! DIE!!" The loud voice was shaking, and Jungkook sobbed, trying to move his paralyzed body to keep the scared boy in his arms and open their eyes in their bed, awake from this whole nightmare.
"Taehyung!" It was Jimin, and Jungkook choked out a sigh of relief, more blood coming out of his already bloodied lips. They were here, his support was there.
Yoongi was quick to take hold of Minhyuk while Jimin and Jin rushed to Taehyung, who was still shouting, and keeping the piece tightly in his hold even when it cut his own skin. He was too out of it to even know about it.
Jimin's eyes teared up when Taehyung was thrashing to stab Minhyuk more, who choked on his blood this time. "Wangji- did his work... even in his last breaths."
Jin was frantic to look at Jungkook's and all the situation. Good thing he came with a few herbs. Rushing here and there, he tried his best to provide Jungkook with the medication needed. "He is poisoned!" He cried out checking Jungkook's condition while others dragged the remaining members of the Han clan.
Yoongi still had a death grip over Minhyuk's half-dead body, who chuckled. "Jeon..." Jungkook barely opened his eyes at the call while Jin was using herbs to treat him. "You... got a fierce one... a perfect one for a monster... like you."
Saying that he closed his eyes for eternity, mumbling a few words more that caught almost everyone's attention. "Suhee... you ruined it all."
"Tae, please calm down." The said male yanked away the hold on his arms and rushed to Jungkook's side, who tried to smile.
"Hyung... hyung!" Taehyung forgot who Jin was in his panic and pushed the male away from Jungkook, taking the male in his own arms with great effort, continuous trembling made the task more difficult when he dragged him away from everyone, trying to keep him safe.
Snuggling in Jungkook's neck, he tried to feel the warmth of raven-haired, subsequently wiping the blood with his hoodie and then gazing at two bodies of his friends, which were taken care of by a few people.
"Leave them! Leave my hyung! Wangji! LEAVE!" Jimin shared a very concerned gaze with Jin and Yoongi while Jackson took care of Minhyuk's body.
The conflict, and fear of the death of his beloveds in Taehyung's eyes, was enough proof of how many torments he went through. It looked like he wanted to push them all away from Hoseok and Wangji, but at the same time, he was too reluctant and afraid to leave Jungkook's side as well. No, he wasn't crying anymore, just embracing Jungkook tightly as much as he could while telling them to leave.
"I've given Jungkook the herbs. The poison would be out soon. But he still needs a bit of treatment. His powers are almost gone." Jin briefly explained the question roaming in their minds.
"Taehyung is... he is beyond traumatized." Now, looking at how the human was staring at his bloodied hands with a deep frown when Jungkook slightly opened his eyes at the desperate cries of his baby.
"Pup..."
"Hyung... you... they... Wangji, Hoseok hyung." Jungkook lifted his hand to caress Taehyung's cheek, his eyes again stinging at the disturbed state of him.
"Baby, let's... let's go home." Taehyung shook his head, licking his lips he pulled away from Jungkook getting in other turmoil., the latter sat up with the help of Yoongi.
"I'm alright. See, we are safe." Keeping his voice as stable as he could after suppressing his grunts and urge to puke, Jungkook tried.
Shaky, dilated pupils roamed over Wangji's body, and Hoseok, who was in Jin's hold, Taehyung stared back at Jungkook, more like in a void when whisper-like words fell off his chapped lips. "They are dead."
All the heads in the hall turned to him when he repeated the same words almost five times before grabbing his own hair. "I dragged them here! It should be me! WHY AM I ALIVE WHEN THEY ARE GONE?!" Stammering at the last word, he frowned deeply.
"See, see that blood on my hands! I killed someone!" Saying that his shoulders slumped more than before, eyes again blankly staring at his bloodied hands.
Jin gasped that moment when Jimin rushed to get the blue-haired who almost fell on the broken pieces of the vase while crawling away from everyone. This time, he wasn't pushed away, but instead, it felt like he was handling a rag doll... he was lost, his brain had shut down after that trauma.
Jungkook cried in Yoongi's embrace, who gulped back his own tears, not ever thinking to see this strong man this weak in his arms one night... a single night that changed many things all over again.
Jimin gently wiped Taehyung's hands once they were settled inside the car outside, stealing glances only to find him staring at his hands. Jungkook limped to that side of the car where Taehyung was helped down, and Jimin was quick to make space for him to sit beside his mate.
Taking a deep, shuddering breath, Jungkook settled beside the dazed boy. "Pup?" No response was given even after many calls, and Jungkook was sure his mind was in great chaos, and he needed some good rest.
Scooping the dazed male closer, he wrapped his arms around his shoulder and nuzzled his mating mark. Gulping thickly another batch of tears, he rubbed his nose with a little hope that his pheromones would work even in that situation so that he could put his distressed male to sleep. He had already puked the poison, but the effects were very severe, making his body extremely weak.
Please, just this time.
Praying silently, he tried again, and his prayers were answered when Taehyung went limp in his hold, finally slipping into a deep slumber due to the pheromones.
"Jungkook, you need to rest as well. Take this herb. I'll handle the remaining things at home." Jin's voice was clear when he was fed with something bitter that he gulped dryly, not minding the taste after the dreading night.
"Also, I've checked.... news... heartbeat." The sentence didn't make sense when he greedily snuggled in the warmth of his mate to seek some comfort.

The clouds were roaring, thunder so loud to make anyone flinch every time, and rain so hard to wash away everything, but they all stood there with their hearts full of melancholy that even rain couldn't wash away.
Jungkook had an umbrella settled over Taehyung's head, who looked more like a statue, denying to say or do anything since he woke up. He was just staring at the grave, his eyes swollen and red, yet he refused to cry fully. And Jungkook was afraid to see him like that again. He feared him shutting off himself all over after that loss no one could fill-up ever.
They all were too shocked and beyond sad after knowing what Wangji did for Taehyung and Jungkook. Jungkook cried in front of them, telling how he sacrificed himself to save both of them.
"We should leave." Glancing back at their pack graveyard, Jin pointed out, specifically to Jungkook, who was busy holding his tears back.
"You leave first." Sharing a knowing gaze, all of them left one by one, Suhee standing at a distance with another maid, keeping her safe from the merciless rain.
Once everyone left, Jungkook took a deep breath and wrapped his left arm around Taehyung's waist. It's been a whole day, after which both of them woke up because the herbs made them sleep off their tiredness. Still, he couldn't heal up completely... his poison was out, leaving the damage behind. His warlock was recovering as well, so his wolf while witnessing the broken state of their mate. But outer wounds were almost healed, thanks to Jin's efforts.
Taking the bandaged hand of Taehyung in his own, he softly caressed the wrist. "Pup, speak. Shout or curse, but say something."
There was no response like before, and Jungkook had a strong urge to hear his thoughts, but no... he won't do that. "Baby, please, say something. Don't you have anything to say to him?" The wavering voice entered Taehyung's troubled mind.
The little wobbling of lips caught his attention, and the next second, the boy was crying his heart out in his embrace, the umbrella fallen and forgotten as he made sure to hug back the trembling human. "Wangji- he left... me."
Letting the rain wash his tears, he cried with Taehyung, nodding helplessly, feeling the loss himself. "He sacrificed his life for you, pup. He- he did that to save us."
The loud sobs echoed along the loud splashing of rain, making the ambiance more painful to the spectators. The two mates cried their hearts out with the hope of feeling a bit better, but the loss was too much. All those moments they spent with the male held different meanings.
For Jungkook, reluctance and annoyance were dominant feelings towards the deceased, but on the last night of his life, when he got to know the truth, he couldn't keep those emotions anymore which were replaced with respect and later gratitude for the whole life. He could never ever forget the male who gently wished to hear him call hyung.
Even when he was sure that his reluctance towards the male was true, because yes, he saw clear love for Taehyung in those eyes when the shine of life was dying there, they still shone brightly while staring at the blue-haired. The same fear he held towards him was true all the time, yet the older male never stepped any further, instead, protected them both. A lifetime of gratefulness he was left with.
For Taehyung, the male was the best friend, a true supporter, the one who never left his side in need. Even when there were times he felt a bit betrayed only to be proved wrong sooner than expected. Wangji was nothing but a true depiction of the word 'savior'. Yes, he was his saviour, in hard times, as well as a great support in happy times.
"Why! Why did he do that?" Pulling away from Jungkook's chest, Taehyung choked on the words. "How could I live peacefully knowing he is gone because of me?! I feel... I feel suffocating in the open air. My breath feels like a burden!"
"Pup, no. Please, don't blame yourself. He just wanted to keep you safe, happy, and alive. Don't waste his efforts, love." Shaking his head at the words, Taehyung pushed Jungkook away, looking at his body, which was a quick reminder of how he was that night. How close he was to losing this person as well.
"What about Hoseok hyung?! He did nothing and see... he almost died!" The news Jin shared with Jungkook was that Hoseok wasn't dead, but his condition wasn't good either. Taehyung was informed about that when he woke up, and unexpectedly, he just silently glanced at his hyung in the room full of medical supplies. How could he react when his bubbly and caring hyung was not out of danger and he lost a best friend overnight?
"There is nothing left besides blaming myself for everything, hyung." Biting his lips harshly, he glanced over at Jungkook's eyes, his sight blurring again. "I wish you hadn't found me that night to begin this all!" Shouting that, he left the area, not wanting to look back at the broken male he was sure to see if he did so.
Jungkook kept standing there, watching as the blue-haired stumbled away from him. The words still ring in his ears.
I wish you hadn't found me that night to begin the all!
Yes, he sometimes thought that, too. But he was selfish to think again, to think about having those beautiful memories with him. And now, everything was beyond messed up, playing with his brain as well.
•••••••••
Taehyung was watched carefully by Jin as he reached the omega center. Of course not wanting to go back to the pack house or Jungkook's room where he was left with bitter memories only, and reliving those was the least he could imagine at that time.
"Luna, are you alright?" It was Neena. The girl had her head bowed down in shame. She did apologise for her lies in front of all when Jungkook woke up, and Suhee was there as well who admitted assigning the action to the girl the night she lied about being in the omega center while in fact, she called Taehyung out of the house. The silent treatment from their leader was the biggest punishment to both as they waited for the physical punishment later.
Taehyung paid no attention to her and just looked around to find a young small girl standing in a distance. Wiping his tears messily while his damp fringes fell to his eyes, he stumbled to her. "Taesoo... call Taes- "
"Taehyung?!" His slumping body was caught by Jin, who bit his lips harshly at the sight of pale cheeks and swollen eyes.
"Call Taesoo, Wangji... he has Wangji's - "
"Pup?" Taehyung was in Jungkook's hold next, but his eyes were closing, still in need of rest.
"Tae- soo. Wangji... call him."
"OK, I'll. You should rest, love." Picking up the almost passed-out male in his arms, Jungkook glanced over Neena, and the girl was already on her way to fetch the omega.
•••••••••••
"Taehyung is taking a lot of stress. I'm afraid he would be very sick at this point." Namjoon shifted his head to Jungkook, who just come out after putting Taehyung to sleep on the bed in Yoongi's house.
"I saw him getting uncomfortable when he woke up in your room earlier." Those were Jimin's words that made him do so.
"He went through worse. What could we imagine? I wonder how strong he was throughout the whole ordeal." Jin sighed, leaning back on the sofa, still feeling the trembles of the said boy in his arms.
"Jungkook, what have you decided?" The hybrid let his eyes close at the question, once again hearing the words he had been pondering since Taehyung said them.
Being a mate of him was not easy. He was aware of that, but going through this much was never imagined by him. All thanks to his mother, who made it all this way. He still had to do something about her as well, but deep down, the final word was of Taehyung who suffered the most because of her.
"What my mother and I did to him deserves no apology. I- I would never be selfish to keep him bound, knowing how many wounds I've given to him to keep him sore for his whole life." Licking his lips, he gazed down at his shaky hands. "He was on the target because he happened to be my part, and my contender thought to use him as bait to ruin me." Closing his eyes to let his tears soak back, he clenched his fingers together. "When I claimed to be in love with him, having my love deeper than the sea, I lost it. I'm a lost one, empty-handed and left with regrets."
By the end of his words, his tears had soaked the shirt on his lap after winning the battle against his will to keep them inside. How could he go back and put his mind at ease by recreating it all? By trusting his mate the way he should have?
"I... I really love him, hyung. I really do." Bursting into tears of fear of losing his other half, he pathetically sobbed in his hands. "I want to be a better version of myself. Keep him safe and happy. But after this all, I'm feeling not worthy enough of him. I'm afraid... I'm so much afraid." Jin was the first one to get up and hug him, and soon all of them followed, trying their best to provide a bit of warmth to their friend.
Jungkook snuggled back in the warmth that came out of Namjoon's chest and cried more. "My hope is dying. His hesitant and distant eyes are killing my hope to restart in a be-tter way." A hiccup interrupted his words before he mumbled. "What should I do? What could I do? I want him... I need my home for peace. But, his peace is gone... he will leave me... someone who just brought pain to his life."
The last word was of Taehyung in the end, the one sniffling under the covers while listening to the desperate cries of his mate. He made up his mind for his future by thinking thoroughly, because not only his, but Jungkook's life was involved as well. And he knew better than to destroy any more lives, he refused.
A small hand softly wiped his tears away, taking his attention to the omega sitting beside him with worried eyes. "Luna should not cry. I feel sad." Smiling sadly at the innocently staring eyes, Taehyung got up and pulled the little one to his lap, embracing him gently.
"When did you meet that tall brother? One with glasses?" Taesoo pulled back after taking in the scent not so subtly, confusion written on his soft features.
"Brother?"
Taehyung took many deep breaths, keeping his emotions at bay before asking more. "Wan... Wan was his name, who healed your ankle."
Taesoo bit his lips, bowing his head at that. "That brother never came back. Taesoo misses him. He asked Taesoo to take care of you."
Nodding lightly, Taehyung hugged back the boy, recalling the scattered memory he was blessed with when Wangji held his hand for the last time. How could he tell the little boy that he was never going to be back? He himself wasn't believing it till now. The piece of memory flashed in his eyes... the first meeting of the two.
The little boy was stuck in the bushes, not wanting to cry as his swollen ankle throbbed badly. A pair of eyes watched as per command from his guardian, but seeing the innocent boy who happened to accidentally cross the border of the pack, he went to him with a welcoming smile.
"Can I help you, little one?" Taesoo was afraid and tried to step away only to cry in pain.
The tall male quickly bent and placed his hand over the swollen ankle and chanted a few words under his breath, removing the bush all the while with the other hand. Taesoo admired the handsome and kind male who made his pain go away with the bushes and warmly patted his head afterward.
"You are so handsome, brother." The male chuckled and sighed later.
"Do you want to be friends with this handsome brother, little one?"
"My name is Taesoo, you?" Blinking innocently, the omega offered his hand which was accepted quickly.
"Wan, my name is Wan." Smiling softly, he put his hand over Taesoo's forehead, chanting a few words again when the blue eyes glowed brightly.
"You have to take care of your new Luna who is coming to your pack soon and respect him, little one. Your wolf is connected with me now. We are friends." Pecking his forehead after pulling his hand away, the male guided the dazed omega back to his pack safely.
"You have to love him, the way I want to."
Love...
Wangji loved him, and it was revealed to him during the last breaths of the male. And the thing that made him cry was that it all happened when he didn't even meet him properly. The boy loved him for God knows since when. It will remain a secret that was buried deep with Wangi.
"Will you stay with me, Taesoo?" Without any delay, the answer was given to him with a happy nod and deep snuggle, making it easier to make his final decision as well. Wiping his face, he let his head fall on the little shoulder before gathering his courage for what he had to do now.

With slow and calculated steps, he went to the living room where Jungkook had calmed after his breakdown. All of them were on their feet once they noticed his presence. Jungkook was the last one to get up, though, feeling too weak to hear the words he didn't want to hear. Taehyung looked determined about something... making his heart restless to the edge. The sensation of guilt and betrayal in those soft eyes made his own get dim with every passing second, especially when the same soft eyes were looking so fierce and avoiding contact with him.
"Call your mother here." Shifting his eyes to Jungkook finally, Taehyung took a subtle deep breath. "I want to end this all."
It really was the moment of final decision for their future... something they were not ready for but had to face with their heads down.

Assalam o alaikum. Only an epilogue is left. If you think something is still not adding up, do remind me.
