44: Naive

Ignore mistakes, please

Third person P.O.V

The night had fallen even before any of them could feel it. The turns from morning to noon and the depressing evening left all of them too struck to notice anything else.

They all heard what Taehyung said inside the pack house, all that he said about their previous Luna. It was still very traumatizing to witness how that fragile body withered on the cold floor before losing the fight. The sight haunted them when the blood just continued staining his pants, turning it into a pattern that made them rethink their suspicions.

No lie, they did feel betrayed when Taehyung came back to the pack littered with that exotic scent that even masked his own. As a Luna, they expected a lot from him and gave him some time because it was all new to him. But when he was told to stay inside the pack, he decided to leave to mock Jungkook only to be back looking innocent.

"Is he awake?" Jimin asked for the nth time from the omega who was standing outside the room where an elder was checking Taehyung's condition in the past hours.

Getting a negative reply, he just walked away to his small home to find solace in the arms of his mate but was slightly taken aback after seeing Namjin and Jackson already sitting in their small living room, looking all bothered.

"Did he wake up?" Yoongi took him in his embrace when he rushed to him, with his scent already giving off the answer clearly.

Jin sighed, leaning back on the couch. "Everything seems so complicated now. Taehyung... he looked so wronged."

Pulling away from the warm arms, Jimin went to the older alpha, nodding in agreement. "Right! He said about Luna doing something to his body, and I know there is no such medical reason for him to bleed down there. On top of that, that stupid Jungkook is not letting any of us see him."

Yoongi made him sit on the empty sofa, joining him after. They all knew that Jimin was trained by the same elder to learn about all the major medical problems. Being a quick learner, he did well and was found to be the next expert in the pack. When he noticed Taehyung's pulse, the movement he fainted, he felt something really odd because it was very confusing. There was no explanation for his condition.

"I feel so horrible for avoiding him all this time." Jackson gave him a look to explain.

Hanging his head low, the beta sucked a deep breath, looking really regretful now recalling those sad eyes directed at him. "I thought he really was deceiving their pack and Jungkook, the person who even stood firm for him in front of his only family and did something no alpha did before." Smiling sadly at that, he bit his lips when Yoongi caressed his back. "But I forgot, how much effort he is putting to fit here, hyung. Today... today, I feel like I failed his friendship."

Seeing tears in his eyes, Yoongi was quick to engulf him in his assuring embrace again. "Hyung... we were blaming him for smelling like someone else," Pulling away, he looked at all of them with a pointed look. "Scenting works only on skin, not on blood."

As if all of them were struck with lightning when he continued. "His blood... even his blood was not smelling like him, hyung! His own scent is not here, and it's not normal. His body is really going through something different. That's why we couldn't feel his pain or emotions." Hiccups left his lips when he lost it.

Namjoon frowned, rubbing his temple when it sank inside his brain. It was true... whatever Jimin said was true, and it meant only one thing...

"He is under some heavy spell."

••••••••••

"He is under some heavy spell, sire." Taehyung looked pale. His pants were changed after he stopped bleeding, and the elder gave a thorough look at his upper body and abdomen, not finding any specific reason for the problem except one he stated after some time.

Jungkook's wolf was still there, not letting the human side come out after the chaos when Taehyung collapsed and bled heavily. Jungkook took control back with great difficulty and rushed to the elder... that's when his wolf was back in control, not letting him out, saying that he was a stupid person to lose in front of a human.

"He blurted out some nonsense." The elder named Lee Jiang sighed, tiredly going to sit on the chair after raking his mind for so long because Jungkook was seated after he announced that their luna was out of danger for now.

"It could be hallucinations because of the spell. I'm unsure, but the spell seems quite different for me to identify so quickly. I apologize, sire." Bowing in an apologetic manner, the older male turned to find any book that could explain.

Jungkook's eyes moved to the sleeping blue-haired and just gritted his teeth before giving the control back to the human side.

•••••••••

The room was dimly lit when Taehyung opened his eyes to see the same walls again. He was in Jungkook's room, and the place looked quite unfamiliar to him right now. The events from the morning were enough reasons to convey to him the clear messages that Jungkook's wolf was trying to tell him.

Jungkook... where was he all this time? Why is his personality so weak to stand in front of his wolf?

Chuckling at his own question that was once answered by Jimin, that it would remain a mystery to everyone, he gave up on it and just got up only to find his clothes changed into other ones.

He blacked out after noticing Jimin and Yoongi coming to him and did feel something in his pants, but he couldn't remember exactly what that was. All that was highlighted in his memory was the pain.

Throwing the blanket away from his body, he went to the table, not wanting to face an angry wolf again because yes... he remembered being called every hurtful word.

"Where are you going? You need to rest, pup." Scoffing at the soft voice, Taehyung ignored him and searched for his things. But yeah, he forgot his bag in Hoseok's car. Cursing his fate, he just turned to get his laptop and other things while Jungkook watched him with some worry.

"Pup -"

"How does it feel?" Jungkook was taken aback by the question.

"What? What are you talking about?"

Taehyung kept his eyes away, not wanting to melt in those soft eyes that changed color just like attitude. "Toying me, how does it feel? Your wolf... your demon, they must enjoy a lot seeing me all broken in their acts and forgiving them just because you are the one apologizing here." Hanging his head a bit low, he fumbled with his hoodie.

"I believed in you when you said you would take care of me like a prince. I gave in to your soft words and actions, ignoring your dark sides... just because I thought to feel it and make your other sides embrace me slowly, but I didn't know... they... they hate me."

"Pup -"

"I was a fool to fall for a person who is divided into three parts. Who still considers me an outsider and not part of his family or even people." Trembling lips stretched painfully in a sad smile that was very much visible to the raven-haired.

"Taehyung, what a fool you are!" Smacking his own head harshly, Taehyung scolded himself, for real... because the hit didn't hurt the way his heart was hurting after all the humiliation.

Jungkook did take his hand in his own, but Taehyung was quick to yank it away. "Don't touch a cheater. You might get this problem from me." Every word was piercing like a knife in Jungkook's heart... it was hurting so badly to hear the soft voice filled with pain.

"Baby, please, try to understand us, too."

"I DID! I did everything to do that, hyung! Have you ever thought about what I'm doing with my life here living with you? Following what you say?" Taking a staggering breath, he turned to face the older who had his eyes fixed on his face with glossy eyes.

"I tried so hard, hyung. But did you try? Did your wolf try? No, you didn't. Because to you, your senses are all you believe in! You have no trust in me because you just trust your people!"

"Taehyung, you are under a spell of hallucination, pup. That makes you imagine things. My people aren't like this." Taehyung blinked dumbfounded before bursting into laughter, and that was breaking Jungkook's heart so harshly.

"Right... that makes sense. I - I got it now." Managing these words between his laughter, the blue-haired tilted his head to look directly into those eyes that were filled with tears just like his own. "I'm a total goner to this spell to even imagine my pain." The tears fell drop after drop, but he didn't blink, he just kept on staring blankly at the older.

"Taehyung, I'm sorry for ignoring you, but I had my reasons." Jungkook tried again after licking his lips.

"Reasons? Oh... yeah, you can have, but I can not visit a hospital with my friend. Ops, sorry... I shouldn't be mentioning anyone in front of you. Your wolf will chain me, right?" Jungkook gave an offended look, taking a step forth to which the younger stepped back, like... like they were back to zero.

"Tae... Pup, my wolf was distressed and in control because of the scent that was lingering over you... and..."

"And you just accused me of cheating because I had someone else scent on me?!" Taehyung frowned, not understanding how to even show his emotions now.

"That's not it," Keeping his eyes soft, Jungkook bit his lips before telling further. "The same scent was found around the guards injured on our boundaries."

Taehyung clutched his hoodie tightly, feeling the blood circulation almost cutting at the firmness, but did that matter when his soul was being shattered there for the nth time?

A humorless chuckle left his dry lips, while his eyes turned teary again, and all the while, Jungkook watched him with pained eyes. "Right. I'm the partner of the person who is your enemy. I'm responsible for all the chaos in your pack. You should keep me away, just like you did till now."

"That's not it -"

"NO! THIS IS IT!" Marching forth in rage, Taehyung jabbed his forefinger into Jungkook's chest, his teary eyes fixed on the older's face. "You think I'm too naive to notice how to keep me under watch all this time? I wasn't allowed to see Taesoo, or your mother, or even other people alone. Because you had doubts about me!" Shaking his head when broken chuckles left his wobbling lips, Taehyung slapped his own forehead.

"And I thought that you wanted to protect me and adjust gradually here." Taking a shuddering intake of air, he closed his eyes momentarily when tears cascaded down his already wet cheeks. "Seems like, I'm indeed naive to understand people. This pack... your people, and you, can never be mine." Saying that, he tossed his fringes back harshly before pivoting on his heels to leave when a hand caught his right shoulder, making him hiss because it definitely was bruised after hitting the wall before, but he masked his pain skillfully. However, Jungkook noticed the expressions and pulled his hand back with worry.

"Your shoulder -"

"No, it's nothing, I'm just faking it, see." Shrugging as if it really wasn't hurting, he gave a fake smile, making Jungkook gulp in mixed emotions.

"Taehyung, this is not true. Whatever you are assuming is not true, pup." Sighing at the words, Taehyung again yanked the hand away, nodding lightly.

"Yeah, this is not true. But I'll consider it... this way is easier to go away, hyung." Hearing the quivering voice accompanying those piercing words, Jungkook shook his head in denial, but Taehyung made up his mind.

"Hyung... if I had the scent of that attacker, you could be asking about my wellbeing instead of getting angry... but, well, forget it. I don't need to stay in a place where I'm suspected to be a killer." With finality in his decision, Taehyung just put on his shoes and left to the main door, his things in his hands when Jungkook rushed behind him with panicked eyes.

"Taehyung!"

"What? Do you want me to chain me up? Go ahead. Because otherwise, I'm not going to stay and rot in agony!" Taehyung was losing it for real, and staying meant hurting his heart more, which he wasn't ready for.

"Pup, please, I'm sorry for hurting you, I really am so apologetic, but... but I can't fight my wolf to this extent." Pleading with tears falling down, Jungkook tried to get Taehyung's hand once again.

"You said to accept me like this, pup. Please, don't leave me." Taehyung's throat was parched, thorns sliding all over his soul at the view, but he could not bear it.

"No, I'm sorry, hyung. You can keep me here by force, but willingly... I can not stay, knowing that no one trusts me and can blame me for anything happening in a wrong way." And just like that, Jungkook was left standing in the house... all alone, feeling naive for just giving in to his wolf instincts because, yes, Taehyung was right. He should be there with him instead of crying in pain, thinking he got betrayed and cheated instead of understanding his pain and emotions, not by his wolf side... but by his human heart.

But it was late... Once again, he hurt his innocent human a lot. The great Jeon Jungkook was declared naive by his own mind...

~~~~~~~~~
Assalam o alaikum. So? What do you think, Taehyung did the right thing? Or he is the actual naive one here to go away?
