21: The end...

Ignore mistakes, please

Third person P.O.V

The room was silent, but it doesn't mean that Jungkook wasn't able to hear the loud heartbeats of the scared blue-haired sitting on the bed after a nap of two hours. It was a deep night already or could be said near dawn as the time felt like rushing forward with a great speed, at least for the raven-haired alpha.

Once Taehyung felt the presence inside the room, he unconsciously scooted back to stick his back to the headboard, all while keeping his eyes fixed on the sheet-less mattress and the blanket over his frame with a vague memory of how he might have came there. His mind was haywire after he recalled the unexpected events that happened before-

"Taehyung," The said male bit his lower lip, hiding his clenched fists under the blanket, dreading the worst coming up with the raven-haired calling him. Deep down, he was still caught up in the moment, feeling that Jungkook blaming him again for those wolves invading his room and-

"Please, calm down first. I-," The pause felt very uncomfortable between the two, but Taehyung did make a stop to his wildly running thoughts at the soothing voice.

Jungkook took a very deep breath, wetting his dry lips for the nth time before taking a few steps reluctantly, too afraid to make the human scared all over again. But when the blue-haired stayed rooted on the spot, if his frequent gulping could be ignored, Jungkook took three steps ahead.

"Do you need some water?" Taehyung's eyes moved slowly as if making judgment through the narrow slits. The irony?! The male was asking for water as if nothing had happened!

Jungkook couldn't tear away his gaze from those accusing eyes, finding some solace even when they held nothing but hate for him.

"They were caught and are on watch." Ignoring how Taehyung's eyes were focused on each and every small movement when he got the water bottle to pour some water into the glass, Jungkook softly continued.

Extending the now half-filled glass towards the frowning male, the alpha tried to muster up a small smile only to fail miserably when those stoic and hate-filled eyes glared at his hands.

"I- drink some water." Taehyung once again gulped thickly, thinking that his refusal might lead to an ugly scenario and he was too tired to face all the wrath again,  so with his stiff hand, he took hold of the glass, avoiding the touch at all costs.

Jungkook watched him gulp down the water greedily, coaxing his own heart to absorb all the words his mate was thinking about him.

Just when the glass was empty, Taehyung placed it on his own lap, still in his grip to avoid the eyes of the raven-haired, which were very focused on him now.

"You, do you want to change your clothes? We are going somewhere." Not knowing how to state his words, Jungkook blurted out, though his voice was very calm, and his throat was very dry.

Taehyung opened his mouth to rebuke but bit down his tongue, not confirming how to confront the other. Looking at the empty glass, he thought for a brief moment before opening his mouth again. "Where?"

Jungkook cleared his throat, trudging to get his own jacket from the closet, having a full sense of the burning gaze at his back. "You don't like here, so, away from this place."

Before Taehyung could ask more when the words seeped down his system, Jungkook was already standing in front of him with a black jacket hugging his figure perfectly, a hand stretched to help him up. Thousands of questions and scenarios were swarming in his mind, but he acted strongly and helped himself up from the bed, avoiding the stretched hand.

Jungkook clenched back the hand, his feet stepping back again to let the human wear his slippers. Even when none of the questions was thrown at his face, he could clearly hear them all, of which a few broke his heart.

Where is he taking me now?

Will he kill me?

No, he showed up after so many days. What if he wants to complete that mating he mentioned before? And if ... if he did that, can I get a chance to kill myself?

With a blank face and those piercing thoughts, Taehyung wore his... not his slippers, but the one provided by Jungkook with extra care regarding his healing ankle, and faced the alpha while keeping his eyes on the floor.

No words were exchanged, even when Jungkook wanted to say a lot, just those loud words of his mate were enough to shatter the little confidence he built up before entering the room to talk, it all was baseless now.

Following the raven-haired silently, Taehyung came across a familiar face, making him almost jump back, but he acted tough and just halted on instinct, keeping a considerable distance.

Yoongi wasn't blind to unsee the reaction but was prepared for this, so he just said something to Jungkook through his mind-link before leaving the house where Jimin was standing with a sorrowful face.

"Is he really doing that?" The question was so obvious, and in response, Yoongi just hugged his mate tenderly.

"Yes."

After making sure that the path was clear and safe, Jungkook led a lightly limping Taehyung to meet Jimin and stood behind the male.

Jimin smiled lightly, looking at the confusion all over the flawless face, and his eyes were ready to sting when they fell over Jungkook's longing gaze. If it wasn't for the soft, assuring squeeze on his shoulder from Yoongi, he might've cried right there.

"How are you, Taehyung?" Softly staring at those gentle eyes which were cast down and focused at one point, Jimin started lowly.

"I... I'm so - so sorry." The reply was a bit hesitant but full of pain, and it broke the restraint as the beta teared up, hastily rushing forth.

"No, don't be. It wasn't your fault. It was never your fault, Taehyung." The blue-haired stayed as before, still staring at the leg he injured a few hours ago mercilessly.

"Can I- can I hug you?" A request was made in a very meek voice, taking him off guard. The person he injured was asking for a hug?

The way his eyes reflected the question made Yoongi look back at Jungkook, who had a blank face while Jimin let a small giggle out at those expressions of Taehyung before subtly getting rid of his tears. "That's a demand as an apology. Now give me a hug, quick!"

Jungkook's eyes were indifferent, but Yoongi still made sure that the stunt his mate was pulling in front of the alpha wouldn't hurt him by staying alert.

Blinking twice, Taehyung gave in and opened his arms slightly only to get tackled by a soft scent, a very clean, fresh, and calming scent when Jimin embraced him very warmly.

"I'm sorry on behalf of my whole pack, Taehyung. Please, forgive us all... forgive us for all the inconvenience and pains we gave you." Taehyung heard Jimin's voice quivering a little, but at that moment, he just felt like enjoying the calmness offered to him. He wondered why he had never felt that scent before. Ah, maybe because he never let the male too close to his body.

After a little while, Jimin parted away, his eyes looking misty but had a huge smile plastered on his plump lips. "I wish you get all the love in your life, stay safe."

Why does it sound like a goodbye?

Taehyung clutched his own shirt, having the warmth gone, feeling utterly awful about the turns his own heart was feeling at that moment.

"Let's go." Jungkook's stoic voice made him curse internally because he was about to comfort the beta who was now leaking tears openly even after trying his best not to show it.

Taehyung saw Yoongi hug Jimin right after the announcement, and he felt two arms encircling his body, too. The shock came back when a warm chest was pressed against his back, but once again, he was given no chance to protest as in the next second, he was standing somewhere else. His feet touched the hard surface beneath, but his head lolled back for a brief moment after feeling greatly dizzy, resting over that warm chest that was like a jolt to remind him of his current position.

Coming out of his daze, Taehyung pushed away the arms locked around his waist and the other over his shoulders and stumbled forth, even swatting the hands, which tried to help him. It took a few minutes, after which he finally got rid of the dizziness and glared at the cause of it.

"What do you want now?!" Jungkook's face shifted lightly but nothing much to satisfy his mind. Feeling more aggressive suddenly, he fisted his hand and hit the nearest wall only to realize that it was very familiar.

The dim lights of the place were enough to flash the settings of the small room he did with a lot of effort, all while keeping his budget in hand. The amount of confusion turned into relaxation when he actually felt at home, felt nostalgic. He was in his own room - he was back to his home!

A knock interrupted his little happy moment, and a male entered the room, slightly familiar as well. The tall male kept his eyes low, his skin gleaming under the dim lights just like his sharp eyes. "Sire, everything is done."

Oh, right, another person was already standing there right behind him all the time.

"Fine, you may leave for now." Hearing that, the tall male nodded and left silently.

Bothered by the dim lights, Taehyung limped to get the switches, wincing at the bright lights, but again, the inner mirth was a lot to mask every other thing right now.

"You can live here now, just like before." The voice painfully reminded him of the unwanted presence in his room, making him turn around to find the male already staring at him without blinking.

"Those days and nights, unfortunately, I can't bring them back, but I can assure you, you can live your normal life from now on." The way Jungkook was staring at him made a shiver run down his spine, but it was strange... his gaze wasn't sharp... it had something else, too, and that thing made Taehyung more baffled.

"While wanting to have my mate, I forgot that you have a life here, in this world, not in my world." Jungkook lightly smiled, but the sadness was clear in those curves.

"I wanted to protect you, but..." At that moment, Jungkook's gaze faltered, and if Taehyung got it right, he saw those eyes getting teary.

"I wanted you to understand me while I couldn't understand you and your needs." The room again fell into deep silence, and only the loud beating of Taehyung's heart was heard by both. The only difference was that Taehyung could hear it in his own ears, while Jungkook was printing it in his mind.

"Whenever I tried to step forth, I was pushed back harshly by the cursed fate I'm carrying." A soft sigh left Jungkook's pale lips when a few tears dropped down his cheeks involuntarily, but today, he won't be ashamed of crying in front of someone because it was really the end of the limits.

"Still, I was selfish, too selfish to keep my mate closer to myself, to cherish the bond and live happily." A small sob caught Taehyung's attention, causing a frown to settle on his forehead. It still felt like a dream, getting out of the prison, coming back to his home, and hearing those jumbled-up words were just twisting something inside, also... those tears were bothering him a lot.

"But that's not for me... all this lavish life is not for someone like me." It was really strange that Taehyung felt his heart skip a beat when Jungkook muttered those words with a sad smile.

"So, I've decided to set you free." Those words should have made him smile, happy, or at least feel at peace, but strangely, Taehyung felt nothing of it, even the happiness from a few moments ago vanished as well.

"I'm sorry about this ugly mark, I can't do anything to remove it." The werewolf sounded deep in regrets, too broken to explain further, and for the first time, Taehyung felt slight pity towards him only to shake it off on recalling how that mark was left over his neck to remind him of the long nightmare he lived in a place he would never go again willingly or not. The next second, his eyes widened, and his heart sped up when Jungkook took some steps ahead... it sped up more when a hand was stretched in front of his face... and it felt like exploding for unknown reasons when Jungkook left a feathery touch over his cheek before turning and leaving his room like a gust of wind.

"I wish you a happy life, Kim Taehyung." Those words were the last Taehyung heard from the raven-haired, and when he stumbled out of his room once the lingering warmth was gone again, the door of his house was closed, and no one there except for him and his loudly pacing heart.

Just like Jungkook came into his life, he was gone after setting him free. But was it really that easy? Because if it was, then what about the strange ache he was feeling in his heart, in his soul as if someone tore away something from him... something important... essential. Was it really the end? Maybe yes, he would be back to his life like before and will forget this slowly...
