We flooded into the hollow while the rest of the clans waited impatiently. All the different scents! The strongest and smelliest was Riverclan. Their fishy, watery smell nearly made me gag!

I found a spot next to Amberpaw and Dovepaw. "Let the gathering begin!' yowled Mistystar.

"Riverclan streams and rivers are plentiful in prey. We shall have a good newleaf. Also,Birdpaw, Featherpaw, and Pebblepaw have been exiled. If you see them, treat them like rogues. That is all Riverclan has to share." Wonder why they were exiled...

"Shadowclan's prey is running plentifully. We have a new apprentice:Scorchpaw!" mewed Blackstar.

The clans cheered. "Scorchpaw! Scorchpaw!"

I couldn't help but notice him. "Wow! Look at him!" Amberpaw breathed. Apparently, I wasn't the only one who noticed him.

"Windclan is well. Although we do mourn the death of one of our elders, Aspenleaf, who has joined Starclan last sunrise." The hollow was silent in grief for a few  heartbeats.

Finally, it was Thunderclan's turn. "Prey is running very plentifully. Swiftfeather is expecting kits. We also have five new apprentices: Graypaw,Rainpaw,Swiftpaw, Amberpaw, and Goldenpaw!

The clans cheered our names. I lifted my head proudly while the other apprentices licked their chest fur in embarrassment. Then the gathering ended. "Where are you going?'' I asked Amberpaw as she unsucessfully tried to sneak away.

"Uh... just meeting a few of the other apprentices," she answered. Dovepaw knew better. "I doubt it. You want to see Scorchpaw don't you?" she teased. Before Amberpaw could answer, Scorchpaw padded over. "Uh, hey. Congratulations on getting to be an apprentice... err apprentices."

Amberpaw could barely speak. She just stared at him. Couldn't really blame her. He naturally captured attention with his sleek black coat and intense amber eyes.

"Thanks!" Dovepaw and I answered. "Why is she staring at me?" he whispered to us,"Have I sprouted wings?'' he asked teasingly.

We purred a little while Amberpaw was most likely wondering what we said.

"Goldenpaw! I'd like you to meet a few cats!" Lionclaw mewed from a little way. I already know all these caats! But nevertheless, I bounded over to Lionclaw. "Maybe I'll see you later!" Scorchpaw called after me. I flicked my ears to acknowledge his words.
