A Kind Heart
Life was boring in the medicine cat den. Just staring at 4 walls, doing nothing, just getting fat and lazy! If Amberpaw, Dovepaw, and Lionclaw hadn't visited everyday I was have died out of boredom.
Then finally, a day before the 2nd gathering upon my arrival, Jayfeather let me out of the prison.
So that day, I worked on getting strength up. Tigerstar did not visit me the entire time I was healing, thank Starclan. I mean unfortunately.
The next sunrise, Lionclaw got me up early in the morning for a dawn patrol.
I perked up a little as the chilly morning winds gently blew. It was in the middle of newleaf and the prey was already running plentifully.
"Alright, we'll hit the Riverclan border and make sure those mangypelts keep to their side of the territory," meowed Swiftfeather, who was leading the patrol. We didn't say much as one of the grumpiest cats, Stormcry, was on our patrol. I had learned very quickly to steer clear of him in case I accidentally clawed his ears off.
"Help!" a sudden cry broke through my thoughts.
It was Amberpaw! There had been a hole about the size of two cats.
Swiftfeather, who was leading the patrol, told everyone but me to get help. Well that's smart. I thought. And that ever so happened to be the worst idea in the entire forest. As I patiently waited and soothed Amberpaw, Tigerstar appeared. He laughed menacingly. "How could you do this?!" I yowled at Tigerstar.
"I did it so you could kill your first clanmate," he mewed matter-of-factly," Thte day you've been waiting for, remember? You vowed." He grinned.
I looked at Amberpaw and pain stabbed my heart. She looked scared, shocked, surprised, angry... "I can't now. They don't trust me completely,"I lied.
Tigerstar narrowed his eyes. "Very well. But next time, do as you're told."
I nodded. Then Tigerstar left. "How could you do this?! I trusted you! I'm going to tell Firestar the real reason you're here!"
I closed my eyes sadly as she went on. "Amberpaw, I'm not sure if I can do the mission I was on. To kill all of you. You should be glad that I saved your fur this time. You should be glad that TIgerstar, swallowed MY lie!" The last part came out as a yowl.
"You lied?" she asked, with hope in her voice though she tried to conceal it.
"Yes, I lied. I couldn't kill a friend," I mewed.
Just then, the patrol burst through. Soon, Amberpaw was out. Then we went back to report.
