renjun held back tears as jeno squeezed his hand reassuringly. "thank you," he managed to say though his voice was shaky. the psychiatrist nodded and stood up, pushing he chair in. "i'll give you some time," she said. renjun and jeno thanked her and waited until the door clicked close.
"how are you feeling?" jeno asked after the room fell silent. "i don't know what to think," he admitted. he had just been told that his dreams were most likely all of his past memories that his brain worked hard on forgetting to protect him. everytime he would wake up with no clue of what his dream was about, all he could remember was that it was happy. yet, apparently it wasn't happy enough to remember.
jeno voluntary sat by renjun's side to make sure he was alright. ever since renjun was released from the hospital just a couple of weeks ago, the younger had made it his job to make sure renjun always had someone to lean on. "hey," he placed a hand on renjun's shoulder and spoke softly, "we're gonna get your memories back."
although he spoke confidently and reassuringly, he wasn't sure if what he said was true at all. what he did know was true, was that he wanted renjun to be happy no matter what. if it meant going through hell for renjun to remember something that happened in the past, he was going to give it a shot.
"why do you keep doing all these things for me?" renjun asked, voice cracking. jeno smiled sadly, eyes failing to turn to crescents. "i just want to see you happy. plus, i've almost lost you once already, i don't want it to happen again," he didn't have time to process his thoughts as he pecked renjun on the cheek.
the chinese male froze, not knowing what to make out of it. the feeling of jeno's lips on his skin didn't send a chill up his spine like it should've. instead, he was reminded of his platonic feelings towards jeno. forcing a smile on his face so that he wouldn't hurt jeno's feelings, he squuezed jeno's hand, "thanks."

"what do you mean?" jaemin asked the lady at the front desk as he pulled on his hair. "this patient has been released a couple of weeks ago," she sighed, pushing her glasses up her nose. "if you don't have anymore questions, i will have to ask you to leave."
jaemin was dumbfounded. sure, it had been a month or so since he had come to see renjun that night, but ever since he had gone to the park where they met. he went there evryday at the same time, golden hour.
"it's my favorite time of the day. the time when the sun sets, and the time when i get to see you."
the memory of renjun saying it to him boldly one day came to mind. it was a bittersweet memory that he never wanted to forget. he shook his head to clear it of those thoughts. "may i ask where he is now?" he asked politely. the woman only shook her head and frowned, "you're na jaemin, correct?" the ravenette nodded, only dreading what was to come next.
"you've been put on the blacklist and a close friend of the patient said that you broke the rule's and disturbed the patient when you last visited," he raised a brow at jaemin. there were so many things that jaemin wanted to say in his defense but he held back. "i-," he ran a hand through his hair before giving in. "i'm sorry for wasting your time. i'll be going now," he bowed before spinning on his heal and walking out of the exit.
as soon as he was out of sight from others, he leaned against the wall. his hands gripped the back of his next while he threw his head back and cursed himself out in his mind. not only had he completely screwed up the last time renjun and he were face to face and had a conversation, but he lost all traces of the chinese male he loved.
"excuse me, can i help you?" a voice asked. jaemin's head shot towards the person who had spoken to him, there was a boy with tan skin who had to be around his age staring at him questioningly. when jaemin didn't respond, he spoke again,"is your arm okay? those bruises and cuts don't look too good."
jaemin's eyes immediately went to his exposed arm. his sleeve had slipped down to his elbow, most likely when he was busy cursing at himself. he immediately pulled it down, hiding everything the tan male had seen. "i'm fine," jaemin lied.
the stranger definitely wasn't convinced and prepared to speak again. jaemin decided to not allow them to speak anymore and cut them off before they started, "goodbye." his tone made it obvious that he was beyond done with the conversation as he walked away.
after jaemin left, the tan male stood there by the entrance, wondering why someone was so moody on a friday. before he could think about them any longer, his phone rang. "hello?" he asked.
"haechan ah, it's me," a familiar voice spoke. "where are you? i just came by the hospital to check on you," donghyuck frowned. "i'm at home, stop by," they said simply, hanging up seconds after. haechan laughed dryly in disbelief, "he almost died and still acts the same."
once he had stuffed his phone in his back pocket, he made a u-turn and headed back to his car where his mom was waiting for him. "back so soon?" she asked. donghyuck shook his head,
"renjun's been released from the hospital. he said i can go visit him at his house."
