"jaemin," renjun clung on to the ravenette, endless tears continuing to fall. "shhh, it'll be okay," jaemin patted his head and pulled the shorter male even closer. they stood together by the river, the moonlight shining down on them as jaemin rocked them gently back and forth.

   the entire world seemed to be still as they pulled apart and stared at eachother. it was quiet until jaemin spoke up, "i'm sorry for not coming earlier." renjun felt guilty because he too hadn't showed up on saturday. "i'm sorry too, for not coming on saturday," he said quietly.

   the chinese suddenly realized what time of day it was and how jaemin was there nonetheless. "how did you know i was here? and how are you here at this time?" he couldn't help but ask. "i snuck out to—," jaemin paused, "i snuck out to get some air." renjun noticed the way jaemin rubbed his nape as if he was lying, but he chose to ignore it. "honestly," jaemin continued, to answer renjun's other question, "i wasn't sure you were here but i had a feeling that you might."

   renjun nodded his head in understanding. "why weren't you here earlier?" jaemin chuckled, "you have a lot of questions, huh?" he ruffled renjun's hair fondly. jaemin ended up not answering renjun's question but renjun didn't really notice as the younger trailed his hand down renjun's arm until he was met with his small hand.

   the ravenette held eye contact with renjun as he slowly slipped his hand in his, interlocking their fingers tightly. the older's gaze dropped to their intertwined finger as a smile involuntarily spread across his face. his face tinted red at the way jaemin was staring at him.

   neither of them spoke about it, they just began walking along the river bank. renjun knew to treasure their time together as he didn't know how long it would last. jaemin pulled renjun into his chest as they stopped walking, staring at the reflection of the full moon above them onto the water.

   "why were you crying?" jaemin asked, he had noticed the redness of renjun's eye earlier but hadn't said anything. renjun blushed, suddenly feeling that he sounded extremely clingy. "i- uh, something happened at school and i really wanted to see you," he muttered, shyly looking up  at jaemin through his lashes. the younger laughed softly and ruffled his hair. "i wish i could see you more." renjun added.

   the ravenette frowned, "i'm here now, isn't that all that matters?" renjun pulled away from jaemin, "but it doesn't make up for all the other times that you're not here."

   "i'm trying my best, okay?" the tone in jaemin's voice rose. due to being mentally and physically exhausted with the additional event that happened at school, renjun couldn't help but become emotional. "well what if it's not enough? you never even cared enough to elaborate as to why you couldn't be here aside from the fact that your parents are strict. are you even trying?" renjun accidently lashed out on him.

   he watched as jaemin face slowly turned dark and his usually bright eye grew lifeless. the ravenette took a step back away from renjun, "i need to go." renjun could tell that there were at least a hundred things that jaemin wanted to say in that moment but he knew he already crossed the line. 

"bye renjun."

   in that moment, he watched jaemin turn and walk away until he couldn't see him anymore. it felt like a lead ball dropped in his stomach and caused a lump to fill in his throat, as he got the feeling that he wouldn't see jaemin for a very long time.
