(04) gallery calls

It was far too easy to fall into a routine when it came to fake-dating Atsumu.

It had been nearly four weeks since Natsumi and Atsumu had started this game and it was still going strong. It became routine for them to post pictures of each other nearly every day and just praise the hell out of each other on all forms of social media. But there was something; and Natsumi couldn't put a finger on what exactly it was. All she knew and felt was that this fake relationship was, very slowly, changing into something else and affecting the dynamic she had with Atsumu.

Atsumu was overly affectionate, but since they had started this charade, he was a different level of affectionate with her. Whenever they hung out and they hung out nearly every day, his hands would be on her, either around her back or around her shoulder or just messing with her hair. He didn't shy away from touching her, getting teasingly close.

He always had something to give her; either her favourite drink or candy or just simple little trinkets he found. Whenever he was at her place, they sat on the couch together and laughed at the silly Instagram posts that pop up in their feeds.

As confused as she was, Natsumi couldn't deny she was really enjoying this. She liked having Atsumu's attention on her; it made her rather giddy.

All of a sudden her phone started ringing. Snapping out of her daydream, she found herself back at her desk, staring at a half-edited image on photoshop. Her phone continued to ring and quickly she picked it up.

"Hello?" Natsumi said. "Who's this?"

"Am I speaking to Ms. Yoshikawa?" The voice was of a woman, completely unfamiliar.

"Yes, this is she. Where are you calling from?"

"I'm calling from the Arts and Photo Gallery in Akihabara," The woman spoke. "You submitted some of your photographs for our upcoming fashion showcase, I believe."

"Oh yes, I did." While she easily found clients in the fashion industry, getting to display her photographs in a gallery was a long standing dream. She had never gotten the chance and submitting the photographs to the Akihabara gallery had been purely by chance and also by the encouragement of a friend who worked at a fashion magazine. She silently pinched her arm, waiting for the women to continue.

"I just wanted to let you know that we have accepted your photos for the showcase," The women informed with a rather pleasant tone. "We are also holding a competition later this month for charity where photographers submit their pictures for consideration for a full gallery show in November and we wanted to know if you would be interested in that."

"Yes!" Natsumi winced as she realized that she had spoken too loud. "I mean, yes, I would love to. It would be an honor."

A chance to have her own gallery show? Hell yeah, she was taking it.

"Great," The woman replied. "Details will be sent to you through email. See you at the showcase."

"Yes, of course. See you there,"  Natsumi spoke calmly. The second the woman hung up, she let out a massive squeal of joy and threw her phone on her desk. Things were going so well and she was so damn happy.

Atsumu. She had to call Atsumu.

She picked up her phone, which thankfully, was not broken and quickly dialed the number of the boy that appeared far too frequently in her call logs. She waited with bated breath as the phone continued to ring.

After the fourth ring, Atsumu picked up.

"Tsumiii," He drawled, sounding half-asleep. "It's m'day off. Let me sleep."

"Atsumu! Atsumu!" Natsumi exclaimed, not even bothering to say hello. "I have a show. I have an actual gallery show in Akihabara!"

"Woah what?!" Atsumu, though still sleepy, sounded excited. "That's awesome! I'm proud of ya!"

"It's not a full gallery show," She continued. "I only get to display a few pictures, but yeah. This is so exciting and amazing and just...ughh, I can't wait."

"I would come over and give ya a hug, but I'm too tired, so come over."

"To your place?"

"Where else? Just come here and we'll celebrate together."

"Alright, but you're treating me."

"Of course, I am," He said like it was the most obvious thing in the world. "Wake me when ya reach. See ya."

Atsumu had left the door open for her, but he wasn't there to greet her. Nor that she expected him to be.

The apartment was surprisingly a lot cleaner than she had expected it to be. Usually the living room was messy and the attached kitchen had a couple of bowls and plates piled into the sink, but not today.

Shaking her head, she dropped her purse on the living room sofa, only taking her phone.

Natsumi smiled a little as she walked towards Atsumu's room. "Tsumu, I'm here."

No reply. He must be completely knocked out.

She gently pushed the door open, careful not to make a sound.

It was still afternoon, so sunlight streamed in through the large window next to the bed. Atsumu was facing the opposite direction. At the sound of her entering, he turned around, raising his hands to cover his face. Sunlight fell onto his blond hair and Natsumi swore her heart jumped right out of her chest.

"Hey," He sleepily murmured, his voice slightly husky. "Ya came."

"Yeah," She replied, smiling, silently willing her heart to calm down.

"Come here," Atsumu beckoned, patting the empty space beside him on the bed. Natsumi felt her cheeks grow hot, but she slowly walked to the bed. Setting her phone in between the pillows, she climbed into the covers with him.

Suddenly, Atsumu rolled over, practically climbing over her as she buried his face into her stomach.

"Hey!" Natsumi jolted, completely shocked. Her face felt like it was burning. "What are you doing?"

"Celebrating."

"By laying your big-ass head on my stomach?"

"It's celebrating." Atsumu said, firmly. He looked up and the expression in his eyes was so soft that Natsumi almost wanted to cry. Why did Atsumu have to be so handsome? The sunlight falling on them was not helping either. It only made Atsumu look like he was glowing. He was just...ughh, perfect.

"I'm proud of ya," He continued, fingers suddenly tapping at her palms. "Ya really deserve this. Yer one of the best photographers I know."

The sincerity in his voice...fucking fuck fuck. It was not good for her heart.

"Thanks, Tsumu," Natsumi answered, swallowing back a lump in her throat. "You're really sweet."

"Anything for my girl." He replied, as he snuggled closer to her.

His girl? His girl?!?!

Atsumu had already fallen asleep by then, judging from the light snores coming from his body. Natsumi slightly shook her head as she gently lowered herself into a more comfortable position, putting her arms around his shoulder blades.

Boundaries were being blurred tonight. Nowhere in that stupid fake relationship contract had they stated something about sleeping in the same bed.

Now, they had done that many times before, especially on their movie nights. But being in a fake relationship changed everything. And being in the same bed after being lovey-dovey towards each other?

That was another experience in itself.

*

Atsumu only woke up when he felt something – no, someone – shift next to him. When he realized just who it was, he was instantly awake. Natsumi was quietly sleeping next to him, the most content smile on her face. One of her hands was holding onto his. Atsumu daren't move, lest he awoke her.

At the same time, he just wanted to look at her. She looked so peaceful and calm and so incredibly beautiful that Atsumu wondered how he had gotten so lucky to call her his girl-his best friend. Yeah, that was what Natsumi was to him. His closest friend. Very gently, he slipped an arm beneath her and pulled her close with the other.

Natsumi shifted and he nearly froze, eyes widening comically. But then, she herself shifted closer and Atsumu felt like his heart was running a marathon. Holy fuck. This was the weirdest feeling in the world. But he loved it. He loved it so much.

(A part of him; well maybe all parts of him, loved the girl who made him feel this way.)

I have come to the realization that this is my fluffiest fic. I always enjoy writing angst more, but with this one, I'm loving writing fluff. Make of that what you will ;)

I hope you enjoyed this chapter of Natsumi and Atsumu being two oblivious idiots; it's going to take them some time to see that they definitely don't have friendly feelings towards each other lol.

Till then, I hope you enjoyed this chapter! Let me know your thoughts in the comments <3 <3
