Serena's POV

'Why do I even bother?' I think subconsciously. 'What is the point of me even being here? I get beaten every day, everyone hates me and if it wasn't for my Mum I probably I have just ended my misery on that night and would have made everyone happy.' I continue to stare out of the classroom window at the back of the class until I hear my teacher speak.

"Ok class, today we have a new student joining us. Ash? Ash Ketchum could you please raise your hand?" I wasn't paying much attention to my teacher until I heard her say Ash's name and it made me fill warm inside as I remember how nice and courteous he was to me earlier today. He was probably the first person in years who has actually acknowledged my existence without saying anything mean or hurting/beating me.

"Is Ash Ketchum here today?" Asks my teacher asks the class to see if anyone knows. People start to shake their heads and some start using this opportunity to talk to their friends. Of course I know that he is here today. 'But I can't speak up, if I do they might hurt me again.' I start thinking fearfully. 'But the Ash will be marked absent and get a detention for being late on his first day if he comes in.' I start arguing with myself as to what I should do.

I raise my hand into the air to get the teachers attention which she doesn't notice at first until I start to wave my hand in the air making it impossible for the teacher not to see. 'Arceus, why am I even doing this?' I begin to have second thoughts on this stupid idea.

"Yes Serena?" I hear my teacher say causing everyone to turn and face in my direction. To be honest I'm surprised she noticed me, I have never been one to talk in class even if it was to answer a question.

"Uumm...." I begin to speak with nerves filling my body and my head at the ground trying not to draw attention to myself. "A-Ash... is h-here... t-today." I finally manage to say in my soft, shy voice which to my surprise the teacher heard.

"Ok thank you Serena, he must be at Mr Sycamore's office correct?" My teacher responds as I give a shy nod with my face still facing the ground to answer her question.

"Ok then lets get on with todays lesson." My teacher says but I begin to ignore what she says and look back out of the classroom window and return to my thoughts. 'How did I do that? Why did I do that?' I ask myself but the only answer that I could come up with was... Ash?

*Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiing

I hear the bell ringing signalling the end of class. Everyone starts exciting the classroom with excitement for lunch. Ash had missed the whole lesson and was no where to be seen. 'He couldn't have been with Mr Sycamore for that whole lesson could he?' I ask myself still wondering why I even care about him. I pick up all of my stuff off my desk and walk out of the empty classroom.

'Great, lunch time.' I say to myself while slowly walking down the hallway with my head still facing the ground. 'Maybe they will me alone today.' I say to myself hopeful that she wouldn't see them today but doubt filled her mind remembering that there hasn't been a day at school where she hasn't been either mad fun of, beaten or both.

I finally made it to my locker where I get my lunch out and put my books back in it.

*SMASH!!!

I jump in fear from the sound of something hitting the locket right next to me. As soon as I turn around to see what was going on I receive a punch to the face, knocking me onto the ground with pain now taking over my right cheek where the punch had landed.

"Well look who we have here guys." I heard a male voice speak and even without looking know whose it is.

"L-leave me alone C-Calem." I say painfully as a tears start to form from my eyes as he delivers a kick into my stomach causing me to whimper in pain as he kicks me over and over.

"DON"T TALK BACK TO ME YOU WHORE!!!!" He yells at me still kicking me. At this point pain had completely taken over and I had begin to start coughing up blood as a result from the kicks in the stomach.

"W-what did I d-do?" I manage to say in pain with my eyes closed.

"We told you that you should do everyone a favour a end yourself and here you are at your locker planning which boy to sleep with next!" I hear a female voice that I knew belonged to Miette, Calem's girlfriend.

Thoughts start coming back to me from Friday night and how I did try to end myself and all the negative thoughts take over my mind reminding me that I'm an unwanted and unloved by anyone and that I don't deserve to live.

"She's right, and now you need to pay!" Says Calem kicking me again delivering even more pain through my body. All I could do was helplessly lay there and receive hit after hit.

"HEY STOP IT NOW!" I hear someone yell which had caused Calem to stop kicking me. 'But, but who would dare interfere or stand up to Calem who is the most popular kid in school and stand up for me?' I think to myself until a familiar answer comes into my mind... Ash?

Ash's POV

Me an Pikachu we were still wondering down the schools hallways until we hear the schools bell ringing.

"Well looks like we missed our first period, sorry buddy." I say apologising to Pikachu knowing how excited he was for his first ever class.

"Pika, Pika pi." He says disappointed as we walk by the class room that ironically was the class room where we were suppose to have Maths. "Well at least we now know where our Maths class is." I say as me and Pikachu sweat drop.

"Hey buddy, how about we go to the cafeteria and get some lunch?" I ask Pikachu trying to lift his spirits. "Pikachu!" He responds fist pumping in the air in agreement, if anything can make me and Pikachu will better it is defiantly food.

"Well lets go then, I remember passing the cafeteria a while back." I say to Pikachu glad that he is no long sad about class as we start running down the halls until Pikachu's ear twitches and signals me to stop.

"What is it buddy?" I ask in concern, knowing that whenever his ear twitches like that it means that he can sense something.

"Pika Pi." He says on edge knowing that something is wrong. Me and Pikachu stand still for a couple of seconds until we hear someone yelling. "She's right, and now you need to pay!"

"The voice sounded like it came from this way." I tell Pikachu who nobs in agreement as we begin to run towards where the voice came from. As we turn the corner of the hallway we see three figures, two of them are female and one of them is a male.

'He must have been the one yelling.' I think to myself while putting the pieces to the puzzle together. 

I start to observe the situation and I look over to the girl on the ground. 'She look a lot like... Serena ?!' I finally figure it out as I watch as the male figure who had black hair that was covered by a red cap that had sunglasses on top and he had a similar shirt to me start to kick Serena in the stomach as she began to whimper in pain.

"HEY STOP IT NOW!" I yell without hesitation as Pikachu jumped off my shoulders and onto the ground with small sparks coming from his cheeks as he took a battle stance.

The two standing figures turned towards me to see what was going on but I continued to look at a poor, defenceless Serena laying on the floor suffering from the pain this person had given her.

"And who might you be?" The male spoke calmly like it was no big deal what he was doing.

"That doesn't matter!" I yell at him clearly angry at his actions towards Serena. "Leave her alone! She has done nothing to you!" I continue to yell at him. "Pika!" Pikachu yells in agreement ready for a fight.

"HA, and what are you going to do about it? Is that small rodent of yours gonna help you?" The female says. I shift my sight onto her and take in her appearance, she had short blue hair and a orange tie with a blue and white maid dress.

"Don't you talk to Pikachu like that!" I yell as anger builds up inside of me and I can tell Pikachu is the same.

"Alright then kid if you wanna play hero then lets go!" The male figure say as he reaches for a pokeball. "Chestnut! Teach him a lesson!" He says throwing the pokeball revealing his Pokémon. 

"Alright Pikachu, you ready to go?" I ask my partner. He turns to face me with a smile planted on his face and sparks of electricity coming from his cheeks as he nods at me then turns back to face Chestnut and his trainer.

"Alright Pikachu start things of with Quick Attack!" I say. Without any hesitation Pikachu is off at lighting speed and lands the attack successfully on his opponent causing him to be pushed back. 

"Hmmmm not bad kid, but you will need to do a lot better if you wanna defeat Calem!" The girl to his left says. 'So his name is Calem?' I think to myself knowing that I need to win this battle.

"Chestnut. Hammer arm." Calem says confidently. The big grass Pokémon begins running at Pikachu at a slow pace. 'So this Pokémon is slow but I bet it packs a punch, I need to be careful here.' I think to myself while coming up with a plan to win this battle.

"Pikachu, use Quick Attack to dodge! Use your speed!" I command Pikachu as a white light surrounds Pikachu as he starts running towards Chestnut who's arm was glowing white as he prepared to attack.

"Now Pikachu!" I yell. Pikachu responded by jumping in the air causing the attack from Chestnut to miss and slam into the ground. "Now Thunderbolt!" I say while throwing my fist into the air.

Pikachu is now behind Chestnut and jumps into the air, curling up into a bowl a releases his attack. "Not good enough! Chestnut use spiky..." Calem says but he wasn't fast enough and the Thunderbolt had already made contact and was now dealing serious damage to Chestnut who was now on one knee in pain.

"Now Pikachu, Iron Tale from the possession!" I give out my final command knowing that this was it. Pikachu's talk began glowing white and now was falling towards the injured Chestnut.

"CHESTNUT YOU WEAKLING! USE HAMMER ARM!" Yells Calem who was not longer calm and knew that he was in a bad situation as Chestnut's arm went white and prepared to attack.

The two moves collided causing a smoke to form from the shier amount of power. 'You got this Pikachu.' I thought to myself knowing that he was strong enough to win this. The smoke had cleared and my eyes focused on the Chestnut who had circles in his eyes signalling he was no longer able to battle and Pikachu was standing right next to the muscular grass type showing that he had won the battle.

"CHESTNUT YOU WEAKLING, RETURN!" Calem yelled in frustration as he turned around and started to walk away from the scene. "Come on Miette, we're leaving!" He said turning to the blue haired girl who was in shock from the outcome of the battle.

"SERENA!" I yelled in worry now that those two were gone I ran over to her injured body. "Pika Pi?" Pikachu said in concern asking is she was ok? "I don't know buddy but we need to help her." I answered looking down at her body which was now shaking, probably in fear is what I presumed.

"Pikachu we need to get her to the school nurse right now." I tell Pikachu as I pick Serena's up bridal style and got to my feet. 'She is so light.' I think to myself surprised how light her body was. 'Does she even eat?' I ask myself as I look at her stomach and noticed that she is way too thin to be considered healthy.

'Oh Serena. What have they done to you?' I ask myself concerned for her health as we run down the hallway with Pikachu leading the way to the schools Health Centre that we passed while we were looking for our class.

"Please hang on Serena, don't give up just yet" I say to her not knowing if she could hear me or not but I could tell that she was falling unconscious through how her shivering body started to become less and less until her body was still and looked lifeless...

Serena's POV

'Wow, Ash is an amazing battler.' I thought to myself. I may not have seen the battle but I did manage to stay conscious long enough to hear the whole battle. But I could feel the pain take over my body as things started to get blurry. I was about to loose consciousness I knew it was going to happen I was about to just give up until I feel someone touch me and slowly pick me up. It must be Ash! I feel his touch, it's so soothing, so warm, so calming, so safe. I feel myself about to pass out and the last words I heard were "Please hang on Serena, don't give up just yet." until everything goes black.

Wow! That is my longest chapter yet! 2326 words to be exact!
