Serena's POV

The school day was nearing its end and the battle between Ash and Calem was nearing. At the moment I was accompanying Ash, not wanting to leave his side, as he was talking to a Mr Mime that he calls 'Mimey'. Mimey was transferring Ash's Pokémon he will be using in the battle after school.

I didn't listen to their discussion. I was still having trouble getting my head around how much Ash is willing to sacrifice for me. My heart felt all warm and fuzzy when I am around Ash and it felt like a knife has been stabbed through it at the thought of him not being with me. I don't know what I am feeling, but I like... no love the feeling in my heart but it hurts like nothing I have ever felt before when he leaves me.

I continued to think about this new set of emotions trying to make sense of them but I couldn't come up with an answer before Ash snapped me out of my thoughts.

"Don't worry Serena, I am not going to loose. Not when I have so much riding on this battle." He says. He must have seen how concern and worry I looked and that's what I like about Ash. He notices the little things and is so kind that he always wants to help.

"I-I know..." I say, knowing that he doesn't know the real reason why I fell a bit scared. "I-its j-just... I d-don't want to l-leave your s-side." I finally manage to say, letting out a small sign after knowing that I can't stand with him as he battles.

"Don't worry Serena, my friends will be with you and you can cheer me on with them." He says giving me a reassuring smile which made my heart begin to fill with those new and unexplained emotions.

The school day had finally ended and now Ash was about to battle Calem. Right now we were all standing before Ash as he was about to walk out into the stadium. But the only thing stopping him from going out there was me. I was firmly attached to Ash's arm not wanting to leave his side as tears started to run down my face as I begged his to stay with me.

"Please Ash. P-please." I say in-between my sobbing, but I knew it was a battle I was always going to loose.

"Serena." Ash said, lifting my head up so that I looked at him. He just gave me a heart warming smile as he took off his Red cap with a half white pokeball symbol on it. His actions were confusing at first until he placed his cap onto my head and his smile grew even bigger.

"I will always be with you Serena." He said, using the opportunity to walk out into the packed school stadium while I was still in shock and processing his actions.

"Serena... come on, lets go cheer Ash on!" I hear Dawn say while putting her hand on my shoulder but I didn't look at her I just continued to stare at the path Ash had taken into the stadium, knowing that I can't follow him through there and now the only thing I can do is cheer him on now.

I slowly turn to face Dawn and the others a nod my head. Dawn immediately took my hand and the 5 of use begin to run out of the participants room so that we could get seats to watch the match.

Eventually we got out seats on the top row of the stadium. We were directly behind the referee and had a perfect view of the battle field. I sat next to Dawn to try and feel comfortable, but it wasn't the same as when I was with Ash. With that thought I took off his cap and just placed it next to my heart and began to pray for his victory.

Ash's POV

I looked around at all the people in the stadium noticing that everyone in the whole school must be here to watch this battle. But... Calem was meant to be the strongest in the school then a video goes out of him loosing to my Pikachu, of course there was going to be a crowed for the rematch. But the crowed doesn't frighten me. I have been in enough league battles to no longer be nervous because of crowds.

"Welcome students to the much anticipated battle between Calem Xavier, the school champ and Ash Ketchum from Pallet Town." The referee explains, who is Professor Sycamore. "This will be a 6-on-6 match and the battle will be over when all the Pokémon of ones side has been defeated! So, Trainers... bring out your first Pokémon!"

"Chestnut! Time for a rematch!" Calem yells throwing out his first Pokémon onto the battle field as it lets its powerful battle cry.

"Alright." I say, taking a deep breath knowing that this is going to be a tough battle. "Pikachu! I choose you!" I say pointing out towards the battle field as Pikachu runs out and takes its battle stance with sparks coming from its cheeks.

"BATTLE BEGIN!"

"Alright Chestnut make the first move! Hammer Arm!" Calem commanded sounding very confident in Chestnut's power.

Chestnut's whole arm began to glow white as the giant grass and fighting Pokémon charges at Pikachu with pure aggression. 'Chestnut is slow so Pikachu can definitely use that to our advantage.' I think to myself before making our first move.

"Quick Pikachu use your speed to doge it!" I call out knowing that Pikachu will be able to doge the attack.

"Pika!" Pikachu nobs in agreement, jumping up into the air just before Chestnut's Hammer Arm could make contact causing his attack to slam right into the battle field, but something caught my eye that I knew we could use later on in the battle.

"Chestnut Seed Bomb!" Calem yelled clearly angry that Pikachu dodged his attack so easily.

Chestnut immediately turned his head around and opened his mouth releasing green circular projectiles at Pikachu who was still in the air.

"Pikachu Thunderbolt! Lets go!" I command Pikachu who responded quickly.

"Pika! CHU!" Pikachu said, releasing his attack which made contact with the seed bomb causing a small explosion from the power behind the two moves, but Pikachu's Thunderbolt was stronger and managed to burst through the smoke on land a direct hit on Chestnut who screamed in pain.

"Chestnut! Don't be so weak and use Rollout!" Calem commanded. Chestnut obeyed his trainer, curling up his body and began to spin rapidly. Unfortunately, Pikachu had just landed on the ground from the last attack and was not ready to doge.

"Pika!" Pikachu yelped in pain as Chestnut's attack made contact sending Pikachu flying backwards.

"Keep using Rollout! Keep hitting him once he lands on the ground!" Calem said with an evil smirk on his face.

Chestnut continued to hit Pikachu over and over not letting him have anytime to recover leaving him completely venerable to his attack. 'I got to do something. Pikachu can't keep taking hits like this. I need to get Chestnut to stop long enough for Pikachu to get back up. THAT'S IT!' I think to myself, coming up with a plan.

"Come on Pikachu I know you can do it! Use Thunderbolt and aim right below Chestnut!" I say hoping that Pikachu can pull it off.

Pikachu, while flying backwards curled up into a bowl and released his Thunderbolt hitting right on target causing pieces of the battlefield to fly up hitting Chestnut causing him to roll off course, missing Pikachu and slamming into the stadium wall.

"YES! Way to go buddy!" I yell, thankful that it worked and that Pikachu hadn't taken too much damage. "Can you still battle Pikachu?" I ask making sure he was ok to continue. "Pika!" He responds fist pumping to show me that he can continue.

"CHESTNUT GET UP!" Calem yells, clearly angry I got out of that situation. Chestnut was still slammed into the stadium wall struggling to get up leaving an opening.

"Pikachu quickly while they're distracted! Use Quick Attack!" I command confidently.

"Pika!" Pikachu says as a white light trails behind him as he runs at the injured Chestnut at lightning speed, knocking him back into the stadium wall.

"Now Iron Tail!" I say, wanting to get a good combination of hits on Chestnut before he got up.

Pikachu didn't waste a second, his lighting shaped tale started to white and quickly and powerfully hit Chestnut causing him to slide back into the middle of the battle field while also taking some serious damage.

"COME ON CHESTNUT! USE HAMMER ARM!" Calem yelled angrily knowing that this isn't the way he wanted this battle to go. Chestnut's arm glowed white and charged at Pikachu who was now in front of me waiting the next command.

"Pikachu doge to your left and then use Iron Tail and knock Chestnut up into the air!" I say knowing that Pikachu's Iron Tale will be strong enough to accomplish that task.

Chestnut slammed his fist into the ground causing it to get stuck in the ground like I knew it would just like it did earlier. "Now Pikachu!" I command knowing that this is our chance to take this battle.

"Pika!" He said while his tale went white and he swung it in an upwards motion hitting Chestnut in the stomach causing him to fly high into the air.

"HA! You think you've won! Chestnut Rollout!" Calem commanded confidently think I wasn't ready for that but I was.

"Pikachu, Iron Tail again! Hit Chestnut like a baseball!" I command Pikachu who nods knowing what to do. My words caused Calem's confident smirk to slowly disappear.

Chestnut rolled up into a ball and began to spin rapidly while falling back towards the ground at top speed while Pikachu had his Iron Tale waiting so that he got the timing right.

"Now Pikachu!" I said signalling him to do it. "Pika!" He responded while jumping into the air and rotating his body quickly building up more momentum in his tale as he hit the round chestnut right in the middle causing the ball shaped attack to fly right into to stadium wall at great speed.

"Chestnut is unable to continue! That means the winner is Pikachu!" Professor Sycamore explained signalling our victory.

The crowed let out a loud cheer for that battle that I had to admit was really intense.

"Way to go buddy! Now return." I say, wanting to give Pikachu a good rest while Calem returned his Pokémon with an pissed off look on his face that showed nothing but pure anger.

"Alright Machamp teach his a lesson!" Calem yells throwing out his second Pokémon. 'Machamp look really strong... deferentially no push over.' I think to myself coming to the conclusion as to who I'm going to use next.

"Charizard, I choose you!" I say throwing out Charizard's Pokeball, revelling the orange dragon who let out his battle cry.

No one's POV 

"Wow, Ash is using Charizard already. He must be really serious about this battle." Gary pointed out to the group surprised to see Ash use Charizard this early in.

"I bet Ash wants to get a good start to show Calem that he isn't messing around." Paul said analysing what Ash could be thinking.

"But Ash already won the first match, it just seems a bit too early to bring out his strongest Pokémon right now." Dawn explains not making sense of Ash's choice either.

"Well maybe he has got something special up his sleeve that he is safing for later." Paul concludes the conversation. But that conversation had only made Serena more worried causing her to grip Ash's cap tighter as she stares at Ash with worry in her eyes.

"Charizard lets start off with Flamethrower!" Ash commands making the first move as the orange dragon stands tall, opens his mouth letting the Flamethrower quickly race towards Machamp who was too slow to react and was immediately engulfed in the powerful flames.

"Machamp! Break free with Bulk Up!" Calem yells with his arms sheltering his eyes so he could still see the battle.

Machamp didn't hesitate, flexing his muscles while a faint red light surrounded him breaking out of the Flamethrower while also raising his attack and defence.

"Alright Machamp use Karate Chop!" Calem commands, not wasting time knowing that he is already 1 Pokémon down.

Machamp sprints at Charizard without fear as his arms began to glow white preparing to attack. "Charizard up!" Ash signals pointing up into the air. Charizard spreads his wings and with one powerful push he doges Machamp's attack.

"Now Dragon Tail!" Ash commands. Charizard's tale turned into an aqua sort of colour as he let out a powerful raw while he did a summersault in the air slamming his tale into Machamp knocking him into the ground.

"Machamp! Jump up and use Dynamic Punch!" Calem yells at his Pokémon wanting to end the battle with one hit. Machamp immediately obeyed its trainer, jumping up with great speed which caught Ash off guard and landed the attack causing Charizard to be knocked down to the ground.

"Charizard!" Ash yell in concern hoping that his Pokémon is ok, but he knew that Charizard is strong and won't give up on him like this.

"Now Machamp! Karate Chop!" Calem commanded thinking that he will be able to warp this battle up.

"Charizard quickly catch the attack!" Ash yelled causing Calem to be a bit surprised by what he just said, thinking that a move like that was a stupid choice which lifted Calem's confidence in this battle.

Charizard got off his knees and quickly caught Machamp's Karate Chop  with both of his claws. Because Machamp had attacked from the air he was left venerable to any attack.

Ash gave a toothy grin knowing that he had Machamp right where he wanted him. "Now Charizard! Seismic Toss!" Ash commanded pumping his fist into the air as he gave Charizard his command.

Charizard gave out a powerful raw as he threw the venerable Machamp into the ground causing an explosion from the shear amount of power that Charizard had. Once the dust had cleared the orange dragon stood tall with Machamp at his feet with swirls in his eyes.

"Machamp is unable to battle! The winner is Charizard!" Professor Sycamore explained. Impressed with the talent that Ash's Pokémon have shown in this battle so far.

The crowed erupted in cheers at Charizards victory while most were in shock that Calem, the schools strongest trainer was loosing. "Return." Calem said in disappointment in his Pokémon defeat but this only made him madder. He didn't won't to loose and he was going to do everything in his power to stop that from happening.

"Clawitzer! Your up!" Calem said with an angry tone. He wasn't about to let Ash walk all over him.

"You still able to battle Charizard?" Ash asked his Pokémon, making sure that he was still able to continue. Charizard turned to his trainer and nodded showing that he ready to continue then he turned to his opponent and let out his powerful raw with some flames coming out of his mouth.

"Alright Charizard start things off with Flamethrower!" Ash commanded while pointing out towards Clawitzer who he knew had the type advantage in this battle but Ash had faith in his Pokémon and that's all that counted to him.

Charizard let our his Flamethrower aimed striate at his opponent how was still waiting for its command. "Clawitzer Aqua Jet!" Calem yelled confidently knowing he had the type advantage in this battle which gave him his confidence.

Water quickly surrounded Clawitzer as it flew striate at Charizards Flamethrower at top speed. The two moves collided but Clawitzer was beginning to cut through the strong flames eventually succeeding hitting Charizard with his Aqua Jet which wasn't at full power because it the Flamethrower took most of the power out of the move. But because of the type difference the attack still did some good damage to Charizard who was hurting from last battle.

"Charizard! Are you ok?" Ash asked in concern knowing that Charizard won't be able to take much more and that he needed to finish this battle quickly before that happened.

"Quick Charizard fly up and gain speed and then use Slash!" Ash commanded while pointing up into the air.

Charizard quickly followed Ash's command flying up into the air using his powerful wings and then he started to drive directly at Clawitzer as his sharp claws began to glow white preparing to attack.

"Clawitzer, Dragon Breath!" Calem said as he watched the orange dragon descend at rapid speed towards Clawitzer. Clawitzer obeyed and opened up his giant blue claw, releasing and purple and blue attack at Charizard.

"Cut right through that Dragon Breath by spinning while you dive!" Ash commanded with confidence that Charizard could pull it off.

Charizard put his white glowing claws forward and followed Ash's command and began to spin at a rapid pace so that it looked like a giant orange dart with a white top. Charizard made contact with the Dragon Breath, cutting right through it just like his trainer wanted him to. Charizard successfully cut through the attack and still have enough speed to do a good amount of damage on Clawitzer sending it backwards

"Quick Clawitzer, Ice Beam!" Calem commanded as Clawitzer was being push backwards.

Calem's Clawitzer didn't waste any time responding to Charizards pervious attack. As soon as Clawitzer cam to a complete stop it immediately opened its claw and a light blue ice attack was fired, directly hitting Charizard causing some serious damage while Charizard reached in peak and fell backwards onto the battle field.      

"Charizard is unable to battle! Clawitzer is the winner!" Professor Sycamore signals causing the crowed to burst into cheers for their champion who had finally defeated one of Ash's Pokémon.

"That's Ash's first Pokémon down." Gary points out with a nervous tone knowing that Calem won't let Ash win without a real fight.

"And it was one of Ash's strongest too." May points out which caused some concern between them because they all knew how strong Charizard was and the only Pokémon they knew that could be stronger was Pikachu but he had already taken some serious damage.

"A-Ash w-will win..." Serena said shyly not taking her eyes off Ash who just returned Charizard back into his pokeball.

"Serena's right. Ash has to win this!" Dawn said backing up what Serena just said.

"Okay... Talonflame, I choose you!" Ash said while throwing out his third Pokémon. The fire bird let out its battle cry as it flew in place waiting for Ash's command.

"Talonflame! Why would Ash pick Talonflame against Clawitzer who has the clear advantage!" Drew asked shocked and surprised despite the type disadvantage Ash still went with Talonflame.

"Because, Ash has a stagey." Paul explained while closing his eyes and crossing his arms. Being a good rival of Ash's he knew Ash well and he had no doubt that he had a plan.

"HA! Your even dumber than you look. Using Talonflame who is a Fire and flying type against my Clawitzer who is a water type!" Calem yells, mocking Ash at his choice of Pokémon.

"We'll show you, won't we Talonflame?" Ash responds confident in his Pokémon's abilities.

"Talonflame lets heat things up with Flame Charge!" Ash commanded pumping his fist into the air. Talonflame didn't waste time responding to his trainers command. Talonflame covered himself with a barrier of fire as he began to charge at Clawitzer at full speed.

"Clawitzer meet the attack with Aqua Jet!" Calem yelled confidently, not in his Pokémon's abilities like Ash but because he had the type advantage.

Clawitzer's body quickly surrounded itself with water and then launched itself into the air to meet Talonflame's attack just like its trainer said. The two moves collided with extreme speed. Once the two had collided that battle field was automatically filled with a white smoke.

"THATS IT!" Gary said having an eureka moment. "Ash use Talonflame because Talonflame has an amazing eye! So Ash planed to make the fire and water type moves collide to cause the entire battle field to fill with white smoke so Clawitzer can't see but Talonflame can!" Gary explained to the group Ash's strategy which everyone thought was genius.

"Now Talonflame Steel Wing!" Ash said into the smoke knowing Talonflame could hear him and see his target. Talonflame obeyed Ash, though no one could see it happen you could hear Talonflame's attacks making contact while Clawitzer let out cries of pain.

Eventually Clawitzer fell out of the white smoke, smashing into to battle field. Talonflame followed landing in front of Ash while he watched his opponent weakly get up.

"Attack now Clawitzer with Aqua Jet!" Calem commanded not taking in to account his Pokémon's condition. But Clawitzer was strong and managed to weakly form the move and raced towards Talonflame hitting it which caught Ash off guard.

"AGAIN CLAWITZER!" Calem yelled wanting to win so badly. Clawitzer obey and charged at Talonflame again.

"Meet the attack Talonflame, Brave Bird!" Ash said while Talonflame got to its feet and started to fly towards Clawitzer with a layer of blue fire surrounding its body.

The two moves collided head on creating another cloud of smoke. Both trainers didn't know what the result was and neither did anyone else in the stadium. Everyone waited anxiously for a result before both Pokémon fell from the sky landing hard on the battle field with swirls in both of their eyes.

"I-its a draw..." Professor Sycamore said before making the call. "Both Talonflame and Clawitzer are unable to battle!" He signalled causing the crowd to go wild at the result of that intense match.

Calem returned his Pokémon not saying a single word. Ash however thanked Talonflame for his work knowing that, that was a must win or in this case tie battle and Talonflame did its job very well.

"Pikachu." Pikachu said to its trainer who just gave his best buddy a small smile.

"I know buddy, this battle is far from over. But I will not loose... I can't loose." Ash responded turning his head to the crowed where he searched for Serena. Once he found her in the back row she had his cap close to her chest and worry in her eyes. Ash knew right then and there what he is fighting for and he will keep his promise.
