These past few weeks have been crazy for the citizens of Hollywood as Cash Downey [20] finally got the chance to speak her truth on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon about the 'emotionally abusive' two-year relationship endured for 'what she thought was true love' with DNCE frontman Shane Voss [23].

Downey revealed to the chat host that Voss was 'extremely manipulative' towards her, and that he often 'used her adoration of him in ways that sought to strip her of her voice and her dignity.'

Speaking about the numerous intimate songs Voss released to the world in DNCE's new title album, which has since dropped to No. 25 on the Billboard Hot 100, Downey described to Fallon how 'degrading it was for my own family to turn on the radio and hear a song about how their 20-year-old daughter is in the bedroom'.

Voss has since commented on Downey's comments, describing to reporters how Downey has 'manipulated our loving, committed relationship in order to portray herself as a victim and I the villain.' When asked about his new album's sudden drop in the Billboard charts, Voss stated that 'our music speaks for itself, and its loud and proud of what it has to say.'

Since her interview on Fallon Tonight the hashtag 'WeStandWithCash' has trended worldwide on Twitter, as thousands of messages of support have poured in to show solidarity with women who experience emotional abuse and manipulation. However, where is Cash in all of this?

Downey has only been seen once in public since the interview both entering and leaving her Mother's upper West Side apartment wearing a large oversized jacket with dark sunglasses to hide her face. Sources close to the star have revealed to E! that Downey is 'taking some time to recover from her still raw public humiliation, but appreciates the love she has received since her appearance on Fallon.'

However, there is speculation that Downey is reeling from a supposed breakup with Marvel beau Tom Holland, as he was seen looking stoic in Downtown Atlanta whilst filming for Avengers 3. The two made it clear on social media that there was something between them, and looked cosy three days before Downey flew to New York as they went sight seeing together in Downtown Atlanta.

Although it seems that their rumoured romance may be rather short-lived, as many assumed Downey would fly back to Pinewood Studios to be reunited with her beau after speaking her truth to the world. But did she? No. Instead, she stayed in her hometown of NYC and has swapped the limelight for a dose of isolation.

Is Cash Downey going through what some sources have called a 'mental breakdown' or is she simply just reeling from yet another breakup with a man more famous than she is? Here at E! we only as the real questions!
