Cedric and I had split up once we couldn't find Rosie. We had both decided that we should find our own way of breathing underwater for an hour. I went for a spell that allowed me to have a tale. So basically, I would be a mermaid and I hoped that I'd fool the other merpeople in the lake.

The second task was about to start and I was placed on a boat with Harry to go to the three towers in the lake. He was fidgeting in his seat and the boat was getting rather wobbly.

"You nervous Harry?" I asked with a small smile. His leg stopped shaking, but his hand was still clenched on his lap.

"Yeah. How are you staying underwater? Neville gave me gillyweed, but only now just told me that it might not last an hour because of the salt water. "

"Oh, don't worry it'll last." I reassured him. "I'm using a spell that turns me into a mermaid basically. It's a bit risky, but it'll be worth it if it works."

The other champions and I were gathered on the tower in the middle as we waited for the task to begin. The boys were in their swim wear as were Fleur and I. I was a bit disappointed with the fact that Cedric had a shirt on, but he had to otherwise he'd freeze to death in the cold water.

"Welcome to the second task. Last night, something was stolen from each of our champions. A treasure of sorts. These five treasures, one for each of the champion...now lie on the bottom of the Black Lake. In order to win each champion need only find their treasures and return to the surface. Simple enough, except for this: They will have but one hour to do so, and one hour only." Dumbledore announced. I waved to Ash who was on a different tower. My place was next to Fleur as Albus was speaking.

"After that, they'll be on their own. No magic will save them." He continued. Harry looked as though he was choking, but it seemed to get sorted out. "You may begin at the sound of the cannon."

Bang

We all dived in at the same time and I stayed under as I cast the spell in my head. I could see Harry a bit further away as I transformed. The transformation was very uncomfortable, but Harry's gillyweed seemed to make him in pain. As soon as he transformed, I had already swam away in search for what had been taken from me. Seaweed was brushing against my arms as I swam further to the bottom of the lake. It was quite hard to see, but the further down I got, the more I could hear the merpeople's singing. It drew me closer and soon enough I could see what had been taken. 

Rosie was attached to some sort of string alone with Ron, Hermione, Cho and some little girl. If I wasn't too busy staring at Rosie in concern, I would have made some stupid thought about Cho being Cedric's precious thing. Fighting back tears, I swan over to her and began to tug at the rope. I felt something nudge me and I turned around. In my sight were about thirty merfolk staring at me in confusion. Like they were debating whether to attack me or not. They got distracted however when Harry came along and tried to take both Ron and Hermione. Before that though, Cedric came out of nowhere and used his wand to set Cho free. He looked at me and then kicked up to the surface.

Deciding that I was wasting time, I glared at the rope with glowing golden eyes and it snapped. I grabbed Rosie and looked at Harry as he was being attacked. I would have helped, but I didn't want to put Rosie in harm, so I held onto her tightly and swan up. As soon as our heads broke the surface, Rosie gasped for breath and began to shiver. We splashed over to the middle tower, helped out by other students and given a towel each.

Fleur was already out of the water and so was Cedric, but Fleur didn't have that little girl with her. I felt sad for her because her sister was still under there. Rosie and I huddled together to get warm and Viktor came up a few minutes later, but there was no sign of Harry.

The hour was almost up and there was still no sign of him. There was about one minute left when Ron and Fleur's sister surfaced and Harry shot into the air a few seconds later. I came up behind him and started to rub his shoulders after Dumbledore checked he was alright. 

"You alright Harry? You have a few scratches on you."

He smiled at me whilst chattering his teeth. "It was nothing I couldn't handle."

Fleur came up to us and began to thank Harry. "You saved her even though she wasn't yours to save. My little sister. Thank you." She then kissed both his cheeks and he went bright red. Any boy would if it was from Fleur. "And you! You helped." She gasped to Ron and kissed his aswell.

"I'm going to go see Cedric, Harry. I'll catch you later." I said and got up from beside him.

"Yeah- hey!"

"What Harry?"

"Congratulations on coming second."

"I won't be second Harry, you will. You saved two people. It automatically bumps you up the ranks." I laughed and walked over to Cedric, who was being congratulated by his friends. They spotted me first and pointed me out to Ced.

"Congrats champ!" I smiled to him and hit his shoulder playfully. He wrapped his arm around me and I was instantly warmer.

"You did good too. Don't forget that."

"Attention!" I could hear Dumbledore shout. Everyone grew quiet as we waited for him to continue. "The winner is Mr. Diggory..." People cheered and Cedric grabbed my hand and held it up as they took a picture. "...who showed innate command of the Bubble-Head Charm. However, seeing as Mr. Potter would have finished first...had it not been for his determination to rescue not only Mr. Weasley...but the others as well, we've agreed to award him second place, for outstanding moral fiber!"

"So much for my second place." I muttered, but Cedric heard.

"Third is still a good place. At least you're not acting like Krum." He pointed out where Krum was having a small angry fit for now being in fourth.

"Yeah, you're right. I definitely don't want to act like that."

I had caught up with Rosie after getting back on dry land and was gasping for air.

"Slow down Rosie, you walk so fast!"

She seemed deep in thought and when I shouted that, she snapped out of it and looked back at me. "Oh, sorry Katie. I was just thinking about something."

"What were you thinking about? Is it something to do with your Ash situation?"I asked, finally able to walk beside her.

"No, no. I- Am I really what's most special to you? I've never been special to someone before, not even my brother."

I sucked in a breath. She hadn't really brought up her brother since I asked and I didn't know how to approach that topic. "Uh, yeah, you are. You're the first friend I ever had because I was never allowed out of the cottage unless Severus or Dumbledore was around. Basically, I had no life before you. You've shown me so many things that I'm grateful for and I have no idea how to repay them."

"Just- don't leave me behind. that's all I ask. I know it's a difficult thing to ask because danger seems to happen in Hogwarts each year. Basically what I'm trying to say is- don't leave me alone in a world without you. I don't know how I'd cope to be honest. You're part of my life whether you like it or not."

Smiling, I pulled her into a hug and whispered: "I won't, I promise."

I think there's about one or two chapters left of the movie. So this book will be ending soon. I have no plans on a sequel, but I'm thinking of doing two different endings. A sad one and a happy one. What do you guys think?
