Chapter 3
Soobin's POV
"Soobin, I'm scared." Kai holds the back of my sweater.
"I know Kai, it'll be okay." I whisper, putting my hand on his hand holding my sweater.
"What do we do?" Taehyun bites his lip.
"Run?" Beomgyu suggests.
"I'm sorry, this is all my fault." Yeonjun cries, running a hand through his hair. All our sweater hoods are down, our horns on display. A giant crowd of people around us, staring or yelling mean things.
"You're weird!"
"You're a monster!"
"Abominations aren't welcome at this school!"
"Go die in a hole!"
Let me explain how we got here.
. . .
3 hours earlier.
"That... was so cool! How did you even grab her before she fell? And pulling them up was crazy! Like that was inhuman strength!" Taehyun rambles on with questions and fan boy behavior as we walk out of our just finished, hour long science class.
"Seriously dude, stop talking." Beomgyu groans, massaging his temples.
"Oh Beomgyu! How did you get up and down that ladder so fast!? You were so fast!" Taehyun drools. Yes, literally drools.
"Oh Soobin, how did you jump from the elevator to-" Taehyun is cut off when Kai throws him over his shoulder.
"Shut up before I drop you in a garbage can face first." Kai threatens.
"How dare you threaten me, I'm literally you're hyung!" Taehyun whines.
"You don't act like it." Kai rolls his eyes as he looks at us with a 'can I kill him now?' look.
"I'm thinking about it Kai, trust me." Yeonjun growls.
"Ahah, no one is killing anyone." I rest my arm over Yeonjun' shoulder, pulling him down and sliding my hand under his hood to ruffle his hair.
"Ah~ Soobin careful!" He hisses quietly.
"Why?" I frown.
"I'm sensitive, be careful." He whines, taking my hand off his head.
"You big baby, it can't hurt that much." I chuckle and slide my hand under my own hood. I ruffle my hair, accidentally hitting one of my horns.
"Ah fuck~!" I squirm in a high pitched voice. I freeze, looking at my friends who are staring at me. Even Kai stopped talking.
"You do not mention that to anyone." I growl, clearing my throat.
"That sounded like a girl.." Beomgyu blushes.
"I just said not to talk about it." I groan.
"Oooo someone's blushing!" Yeonjun teases, pinching my cheek.
"I will throw you in something worse than a garbage can head first if you don't take your hand off my face right now." I growl.
His hand flys off my cheek as he raises his hands in surrender.
"If we don't get going, we're going to be late for class, let's go." Beomgyu clears his throat and motions us to move along. We silently obey and head off to our separate classes. I have Math with Yeonjun.
"See you at lunch okay?" Kai says quickly, tugging on Taehyun to wait.
"Yup." I give him a toothy grin before walking inside with Yeonjun. We walk up a few stairs to our seats before turning our chairs to each other.
"Okay, what are we going to do about Taehyun and his non stop blabbering?" I groan, crossing my arms.
"No clue." He shrugs, looking at his phone. The familiar taps and zaps of his phone ringing through my ears.
"Flappy Ramen again, really?" I sigh, snatching his phone and turning it off. "Maybe I should figure out what to do with you and that addiction before I deal with Taehyun." I huff out.
"Hey! Give it back, that's my phone. I'm about to get a new high score!" He whines, reaching for his phone.
"No way." I stick my tongue out.
"I'm your hyung, give it back." He holds out his hands with a small frown on his face.
"Hyung? You actually expect me to call you Yeonjun-hyung and obey you, when you act like the youngest?" I cross my arms, his phone tightly grasped in my hand.
"Whatever." He groans and faces the front of the class, tucking his head in his arms on the desk, his eyes peeking up. I roll my eyes with a small grin and place his phone next to him. He darts his eyes to me then back to the front where the teacher is situating his stuff before the bell rings.
"Yeonjun, don't ignore me or no ice cream after school." I tsk, looking ahead as the bell rings.
"You don't mean that." He gasps, sitting up.
"Oh, I do." I smirk, turning my head to him as the teacher starts talking.
"You're evil." He pouts, dramatically grabbing his phone and shoving it in his sweater pocket.
"Sure am." I sigh, making myself comfortable in my chair, slouching down in it and spreading my legs. The teacher continues to talk about unnecessary math we will never use in our lives. As we take notes, I notice someone sitting behind us poking Yeonjun.
"Pst, dude. What's the answer to 4?" He asks, poking Yeonjun's back with his pencil eraser.
"Figure it out yourself." Yeonjun shrugs. The guy frown and keeps poking Yeonjun. When he doesn't answer, the guy flips his pencil and starts stabbing the led into his back.
"Stop." Yeonjun growls, arching his back a little. The guy keeps poking with a glare. I know I should do something, and I'm about to... when Yeonjun roughly stands up and turns around looking at the guy.
"I said stop!" He yells, earning the attention of the class and teacher.
"Is there a problem?" The teacher asks from down below.
"I just wanted the answer man." The guy rolls his eyes. I can feel something snap in Yeonjun as he grabs the collar of the guy's shirt.
"And I told you to figure out yourself dumbass." He growls.
"Yeonjun, that's enough." I say calmly, moving my hand around his arm. I flinch away, feeling an immense power of anger, course through my body. Why is he so angry?
"Don't be so dramatic dude." The guy says, smacking Yeonjun's hands off his collar and pushing him back. Yeonjun smacks into the desks, his hood flying off.
His hood flying off.
Everyone gasps or stares, looking at the horns we tried to hide.
"You freak, you have horns." The guy scowls. He turns to me and I widen my eyes.
"You're a freak too, aren't you?" He growls. He quickly pulls off my hood as well, my horns now in display. Shit shit shit. Yeonjun looks over at me and it's like I read his mind.
Run.
We jump over our desks, inhuman speed and agility on full display as we jump at least 10 feet down the class to the door. We run out of the class, already hearing people start to scream, "follow them!"
"We have to get to the others!" Yeonjun cries, turning a corner.
"I know." I say back, sprinting down the hall. We skid to a stop, banging open the door to a social studies class.
"Yeonjun?" Kai asks.
"Soobin?" Taehyun cocks his head to the side. I look at Beomgyu and his eyes widen, as do the others as they see our hoods off.
"They have horns."
"That's so weird."
"Are they real?"
"They're freaks."
I ignore the comments as our friends run over as well, their hoods flying off and more gasps from that class erupt.
"We gotta go, now." I instruct, running down the halls and out the building. Wrong choice as even more people are outside waiting. We turn around but more people are already there, blocking our path. We're officially trapped in a circle of students who shout insults at us.
What do we do, what do we do!? Suddenly, gun shots are heard. Everyone scatters, running in every which way direction, hoping not to get shot. We're just about to bolt off when a man in a simple t shirt and jeans stands in front of us.
"Hold it right there." He says, taking off his sunglasses.
"Who are you?" I ask, standing in front of my friends.
"My name is Jackson, I'm here to rescue you." He grins, holding up his phone and playing the gun shots again.
"Sorry to spook you, I just needed those idiots gone." He yawns.
"W-what do you mean, r-rescue us?" Taehyun asks from behind me.
"Those horns on the top of your heads are real, right?" He crosses his arms.
"Sadly." Beomgyu scoffs.
"Then I'm here to take you to a school with people like you. Who have horns and wings and other abilities and atributes that make them a monster in societies eyes." He shrugs.
"But we're not monsters." Kai mumbles.
"I know son, you're just normal boys who either got cursed or a gift displayed upon you. That's what we want to figure out. Just come with me and I'll show you the school. You'll be safe there, at home." He holds his arm to the side, pointing to a black limo.
I turn to my friends and they all look scared, nervous and confused.
"If he says it's safe, then I want to go. Your safety is the most important to me." I sigh, looking at all of them.
"I agree with Soobin. Being safe is a top priority. I don't want to loose you guys, you're my family." Yeonjun speaks up.
"If you say it's safe then I'll go." Kai looks at me with a small smile.
"We're in too." Beomgyu says for himself and Taehyun. I nod my head with a smile and turn back to the guy.
"Alright, we'll come with you. You better not trick us." I cross my arms.
"I promise, I'm the only person you can trust with this. Heck I'm human, I can't hurt you." He chuckles, motioning for us to go to the car. We follow along, Kai's grip back on my shirt as I stand close to Yeonjun. Beomgyu and Taehyun hold hands as we make our way to the car.
"Alright, just through these doors will take you to an amazing opportunity of a life time." Jackson grins widely.
"I hope so." I mumble, getting into the car after everyone else hopped in. Jackson closes the door and gets into the passenger seat as the driver starts up the car.
"Wait, won't everyone come looking for us? Or post about us or something?" Beomgyu asks worriedly.
"Already taken care of my little friend. I have a co-worker who has already wiped the minds of your very existence I'm at that school." Jackson replies.
"What about our stuff in our dorms?" I frown.
"Again, taken care of. I have a team moving your stuff by teleportation right now." He chuckles.
"Mind wiping and teleportation. What next, you can shapeshift into a pretzel?" Taehyun frowns.
"Well not a pretzel, other animals." Jackson laughs.
"Seriously!?" Taehyun's face darkens.
"Yup! And so much more where that came from!" Jackson laughs at our reactions.
"Okay, I'm officially loosing it." Kai sighs, rubbing his temples.
"Don't worry Kai, everything will be fine. We just need to stick together. Remember what we said? We'll go through harships, enemies and anything the world throws at us together as friends and as a team. You guys are my family and I'll protect you no matter what." I look at each and every one of them with a soft smile.
"Right, we're family, we protect each other." Yeonjun smiles.
"Alright, we can do this." Beomgyu grins.
We can do it together.
