Colors and Bubbly Drinks

"It's just, usually I would get to choose, one of the perks of not being the heir," Maven says. Evangeline was no where to be seen but Mare sat next to the black haired boy.
Maven glances around the room, his eyes passing over me like I wasn't even there.
"Is she here? The girl you would have chosen?" Mare asks, glancing up to me for only a moment.
Maven hesitates, "no, I didn't really have anyone in mind but, it would have been nice, just to have the choice," he says softly.
I can feel the heat in the room rise and this time I knew it was me. Cal sat next to me. He stared at me, watching carefully for any chance at me loosing my grip. I see him, out of the corner of my eye, taking off his flame maker bracelet.
"It won't help," I snap slightly, I tare my eyes from Maven to Calore. I stare into his deep blue eyes. To anyone else it would look like we were having a conversation, only between thoughts, not words. But what actually was happening was that he was trying to read me, read the look in my eyes, the words easily painted on my faced, the paint used from my heart. I, on the other hand, was doing my best to keep up the emotionless act that I had been taught since childhood. It never worked with him, Calore always saw right thru it, he always saw right thru me.

Our focus is broken when Evangeline enters. She seems to have gotten over her anger, tho it's hard to tell with her because she always looks angry. She wore a dress completely made out of different metals and it's very obvious that she she knows she has all the attention. I'll admit it, she's quite a beautiful girl. I stared at her and could suddenly feel the metal fork in my hand bend backwards.
I wasn't mad about her being here at all, but as I stare at her my mind was still on what Maven had said. He mine as well been trying to hurt me.

"So, Goldie, did the fork melt or did it bend," Mermaid asks, I still couldn't get over the weird name, but I liked it.
I glare at her.
"What? It is the only question left," she grabs her own fork and knife, cuting her steak into little pieces.
Phenix was far from lady like, but the girl knew how to act the part. I stare at her fork as she brings it to her lips. When, instead of a piece of meat touching her lips, the middle of the fork touches her chin she looks at it, examining the bent metal. She gives me a really look and I smirk at her.
"I guess I deserved that," she says, putting down her fork and grabbing a different one.
"You did," I say, still smirking, as she uses her knife to scrape the meat off the esentaly useless fork, and picks it up with her new one.

I look back at Maven and catch him staring at me. He didn't glare, he just had that blank look on his face, which uneased me even more. I swiftly push my chair back, not meaning to go that fast, and walk away. I walked away faster then normal, I only lost the speed when I didn't see Phenix anymore.
"Thank you," I whisper to myself and slightly to Phenix, even tho she won't hear it. I stare at the hundreds of Silvers that pass me. The men, wemon, well known and not as. I felt each one of their powers buzz inside of me as they pass by.
That one is a Nimph, a Swift, a Strong Arm.
A hundred and one abilities, and each is at my disposal. Not even a silencer could stop me if I wanted to leave. And the queen and king seem to know as well as I do. They watch me, but as they know I'm the most dangerous person they could ever meet, they know I know as well. My weakness is simple, tho, something I don't think they would ever think of. They've only ever known that a show of force is the way to win, they never thought they'd have to deal with someone like me. Someone whose weakness is just the opposite. My weakness would be complete icolation, complete as in, not a single person- Silver to be near me. But now, I suppose that they don't have to just watch out for Silvers. Reds are around too, that are much more then dangerous. The queen and king don't even know what to think, but I could tell them. Good thing I'm a light sleeper because I'm sure that the queen has more them half a mind to try to get into my head when I'm in my most vulnerable state. No matter. I haven't slept, properly slept, since my parents' death.

"You really are quite a curious creature, aren't you Gold?"
I swear I jumped fifteen feet off the ground and almost cut him open when I heard Lucas.
"You scared me!" I snap as I turn around to look at him.
"Really? Is that why every metal thing in the room stood at attention?" He says smugly, arms crossed.
"No! That's because they're all jealous of Evangeline's dress," I cross my arms, finding the shining thing in the middle of the room.
"Mad?"
"No, I would let her marry Cal If I had any choice in the matter, If I could have said no I would have."
"Do you really hate him that much, he is the most eligible bachelor in all of Norta."
"No, I don't hate him, far from that, but I just, don't care about him the way the queen is showing it to the nation."
"Please. Everyone knows that Cal had no say in that."
"You really don't know that. Calore married someone that wasn't from Queenstrile. People could be thinking anything."
"I guess you're right, but hey, Cal knows the way you feel. So I guess that makes it a little better doesn't it?"
"No!" I snap, " it makes it worse. God I wish you had to have a bracelet like Calore. It makes thing so much better!"
"You'll learn. Just take a step back, it helps if you don't get mad at the smallest things. And let's hope you learn to control that little gadget soon enough because you know as well as I do-"
"That Eve is gonna enjoy the hell out of angering me," I cut him off.
"Exactly," he puts a hand on my shoulder, "hey?"
"Yeah, Lucas?"
"I know you can do this."
"What is it with you and Phenix? Y'all can be so, so-"
"I know what you mean, she is a handful."
My eyes widen and I look back at him, "you are-"
"Hey, Prue, I was looking for you," Mare walks up to us.
I glare back are him, " not, over."
"I didn't think I was that lucky anyway," he turns around on his heals and walks off.

"I think we should talk," Mare looks down and puts her back up against the wall next to me.
I hug her, not thinking, "I'm so sorry, Mare, I didn't want this... Sh- Shade would hate me so much."
"No, Prue no," she pushes me back, "this isn't your fault."
It was my turn to look down, "you should have left me back there in that hallway."
"And then not only would I have been caught, but you and Cal would hate me."
"I couldn't hate you, you shouldn't have to stay here."
We spent a few moments in silence and her hands drop from my arms.
"I- I guess this makes us sisters now, huh?" She asks, a small smile spreading across her painted lips.
"I guess it does," I return the smile.

A servant passes by, a silver tray with a golden goblet on top in her hand. I early grab the goblet, looking at the familiar bubbly drink, and take a sip. I despretly gulp down as much as possible without looking like I loved the drink as much as I did. I bring the goblet down from my lips and look off into the crowd of silks and velvets, colors upon colors. My head starts to buzz a little, but I don't mind. For the amount of times that Phenix and I had snuck bottles of this out of the palace, I had built up quite a tolerance. I slowly sip down the goblet and when I'm almost done, Maven walks up to me. He takes the drink out of my hand and I whimper, tho, try my best to hide the embarrassing sound.
"I was almost finished," I whined.
"No, you are finished, here, drink some water," he hands me a different goblet, this one filled with the clear substance. I groan but drink the water none the less. To my dismay, my head started to clear up.
I lift the goblet to eye's length and glare at it, "I like this drink a lot less, Maven," I sneer.
"Well, I think I saved you. Wouldn't want the future queen wabaling around now would we?" He meant it as a joke but it came like a punch to the gut.
"Don't call me that, " I say in a low growl.
"Sure," he says, his focus no longer on me.
Can this man not give me one full moment of his undivided attention?! It's like he does it just to annoy me!
"Angry are we, Goldie?"
I come to relize that along with my angry thoughts, I had a particularly angry scowl on my face.
"Would you believe me if I said yes?" I snap, sounding more cruel then I had originally intended, but I didn't mind it either.
"Well, I might say no, if u couldn't feel the anger litteraly radiating off of you from over here," He says, it was a slight mix between a warning and a smug remark. It made me want to both thank him, and knock his teeth out.
I clasp my hands together and will myself to cool down.
"To be fair, you have been drinking a lot of bubbly drink, Prue," Maven almost laughs.
I didn't have to tilt my head too much to look up at him, but for the little I did, I thanked the slight heals. No one likes being shorter than their enimies, and Maven was one sadly love obsessed girl away from being my enimy, at least in that moment.
He could very clearly see the anger in eyes. But some of me believed that he saw something else as well. For that something else, I saw his eyes soften, and for a moment, if only but a moment, I saw something that I had been longing to since I was fourteen. It quickly disappears, tho, and I wish for it again. His eyes, now cold again, still stare into mine.
Why do they have to be that kind of ice blue?
