@Haya : an eyeliner won't fix your issue but it will make you feel good. #thoughtoftheday

If it wasn't for the pleasant smile on on the face of his sisters, she wouldn't have smiled back so politely when she was so annoyed from the inside.

Amir had gone outside himself to receive his sisters and she understood the bond he shared with them but the amount of respect he gave to them, it was almost surprising for her.

"Haya, you look so beautiful." Najma gushed as her eyes fell over Haya, air kissing both of her cheeks.

Haya returned the gesture as well, being as polite as she could have been.

"Thank you, Najma. I hope you're well?"

Najma nodded, looking at both Haya and Amir this time.

"Yes, alhamdullilah. I hope we didn't disturb you."

They kind of had disturbed them but Haya chose not to say anything. She remained silent and found Amir speak instead.

"Not at all. Infact, I'm glad you girls came to visit."

"Aww, did you miss us?"

This time, his youngest sister had spoken up. She had only greeted Haya with the traditional gesture of air kissing both the cheeks but hadn't asked about her well being.

Haya had not bothered either.

She saw Amir throw his arm around his sister's shoulder.

"You know I did." He replied, smiling at both the girls.

"Suhoor didn't though. She was just buttering up Adil instead." Najma muttered, chuckling as Amir threw a look at both of them with a raised eye.

Suhoor didn't deny it either. Haya only observed their exchange.

"Well, ofcourse. It was different when he lived with us. Now he won't visit us even when he's in the palace." She heard the girl complain.

Haya smiled, almost remembering how much she complained to her own brothers.

Well, she didn't just complain. She nagged and argued, she fought and taunted like anything.

Amir cleared his throat, knowing he was at fault. He had been at his father's office in the Palace with the drama involving Haya. He hadn't even bothered to meet anyone after that, since his mood wasn't completely fine.

"I do apologize for that. I had an urgent meeting with father and I couldn't stay later on." He apologized.

Who even apologises to their siblings?

Haya raised her eyes, surprised.

She didn't remember the last time her brothers had apologised to her. She didn't remember the last time she had said sorry to them. She didn't think it was like that with siblings.

They fought, argued and then started talking normally the very next day.

"It's fine. We understand. That's why we're here, right?" Najma interfered, Haya only gestures them to come on inside as they entered the living room, making themselves comfortable.

"How is everyone at home?" Amir enquired, sitting by Haya's side.

"They're doing great. Akbar's wife is expecting again so we are all very excited."

"Yes, I heard." Amir mumbled, turning his gaze towards Haya.

"Masha'Allah, this will be his third child." He informed, Haya only nodded.

"We were hoping to expect such news from you, Haya." She heard Suhoor say out loud, the Princess only frowned in return.

She threw a confused look at the girl, even though she completely understood what was implied.

She hadn't even discussed this with Amir yet but she knew she wasn't ready to have a child.

"What news?" Haya asked, feigning innocence.

"You know.."

She shook her head.

"No. I don't know." She clarified, hearing a soft sigh from by her side.

Amir clearly knew that Haya was only trying to intimidate his sister so she wouldn't ask such a question again.

"She means that we were expecting you and Amir would be sharing a good news too." Najma interrupted, almost possessively.

"Whenever God chooses to bless us." She heard Amir say from by her side.

Haya turned to stare at him and shook her head at him.

"Oh, no no no." She muttered, knowing that she didn't want a child for another two years atleast.

She didn't know what Amir thought of the subject.

"Sounds like a subject you've not discussed yet." Suhoor stated, finding Haya's eyes back at her.

She smiled, but it wasn't pleasant at all this time.

"I'm sure it will come up now, since you were kind enough to talk about it." She shot back, already dreading the upcoming dinner.

She knew it was hypocritical of her to not enjoy their company when Amir had spent two days with her family, without even a frown on his forehead.

But she just couldn't help herself.

Still, she wanted to try for his sake. She wanted to be friendly and kind with them, she didn't want to be the bitchy sister in law.

"How was your brother's engagement? Congratulations by the way."

Haya thanked Najma, prolonging the conversation.

"It was lovely. Adil was there as well. Maybe you girls can come to the wedding?" She said to the both of them.

Najma only nodded.

"If father allows." Suhoor muttered, pouting as she looked at her brother.

"And if she's not married till that time." She found Amir adding to the conversation.

Haya frowned, not knowing about it. She knew Najma was engaged and about to be married the following month. She didn't know that they were marrying their youngest off as well.

"You're getting married?" Haya asked, surprised.

"Apparently. I didn't know about it until yesterday. I wanted to talk to my brother about it but Adil told me that he already knew."

What did she mean by the fact that she didn't even know about it?

"Yes, I did. He is a good man, there's no need for you to worry or be concerned. We have known him for years now." Amir replied, Haya wanted to object.

She hated this logic.

"I know that. But I don't know if he's compatible with me." Suhoor responded, Amir hummed m

"And where was this tongue of yours when father told you about it? You should have said no." He said back, making Haya think that they might have the option of saying no after all.

Didn't Amir tell her that his father wanted him to make a decision about marriage on his own? Did that not apply to his sisters too?

"And you think he would have let it go? It's not that I won't marry him, it's just I don't want to marry anyone right now." Suhoor argued, continuing.

"Besides, if you had the chance to marry someone you love..I should also have the same opportunity." She further said.

The Crown Prince only chuckled dryly in return.

"So now the comparison is with me hmm?" He asked, sounding a little more serious than before.

"No, brother. What she means to say is that-"

Haya observed that Najma always interfered in such conversations. She didn't have a sister but she almost understood. It was a protective thing, she did the same with Aaliyah at times but not like this.

"No, wait." Amir stopped her with a gesture of his hand.

Haya observed that as well. If her brothers ever asked her to stay quiet with such a gesture, she would have never stayed quiet.

"You tell me." He directed his eyes towards Suhoor.

"I want to know someone and then marry them." She stated without any hesitation.

Amir nodded in understanding.

"And I am giving you a chance to know that man." He argued, Suhoor clicked her tongue.

"What if I don't find us compatible even then?" She questioned.

Even Haya dreaded to hear the answer. She didn't want to be disappointed in the brother that Amir was. He had been a great husband so far, an incredible son too and even a good brother.

But she knew that his answer could change Haya's perspective of the man he was.

"Then I will talk to father." Amir stated, surprising his sisters.

"Really?"

"Ofcourse. Why would I want to drag you in a marriage that you don't want to be in? It is your life."

Haya smiled at his response,

"Thank you, brother. This means so much."

Amir only gave a smile in return as he stood up and excused himself to take a phone call.

@Haya : ✨

Haya crossed her legs, as she stared at the two girls. Najma, who was dressed in a long silk dress that looked like a gown but seemed more traditional as well. Suhoor, who had a knee length blue dress on with matching pants and a headband with a cloth that covered her hair.

She didn't really know what to talk about so she was actually glad when Suhoor brought up a topic of conversation herself.

"So we heard you introduced Adil to your cousin?" Haya nodded, remembering the crazy day.

"Yes, I did." She affirmed.

"He talked about her with me. He said she was like a copy of you."

Haya wanted to laugh. Aaliyah would have a stroke if she actually heard something like that. She was a little more proper than her but only Haya knew how crazy Aaliyah had also been in her life. It was only when she moved to Buredaan that she became a little timid, only because of Uncle Hammad.

"Aaliyah is my cousin but she's more like a sister to me. We've been very close since childhood." Haya replied, smiling.

She found Suhoor lean a little forward, her eyes narrowed.

"So you wanted her to be close to my brother then. Don't try, Haya. He's already spoken for."

Haya looked at her in a little confusion, too amazed by the fact that someone had the courage to speak to her in this way.

"Excuse me?" She cocked an eyebrow at her, making sure she had heard right.

"I just think that one woman from Buredaan is enough for us. We don't need another one."

The Princess couldn't control herself. Haya didn't know how but she burst out in laughter, not even bothering to hide her face as she found hilarity in the way Amir's sister had spoken to her.

Did she really think she could talk like this and get away with it?

As Haya was laughing, she felt Amir on her side.

"Hey, what's with the laugh?" He asked, grinning himself as he found Haya laugh so whole heartedly.

"Ah, you sister is just so funny." Haya replied, still laughing out loud.

Amir stared at his sisters, confused as to what was so damn funny.

"What did you say to her?" He questioned, finding Haya wipe away the tears around her eyes.

Before the girls could say a word, Haya caught hold of his hand and kissed the palm of it, smiling.

Amir knew what she was doing before she had even done it. She was trying to show her territory. He didn't know why.

"It's nothing, baby. Just between us girls, yeah." She whispered, making him shrug in return.

"Alright," He murmured, hearing his phone ring again.

He stood up with a sigh.

"I just can't have a break, excuse me."

He uttered, walking away one more time. Haya had settled down till then as she narrowed her eyes at Amir's youngest sister.

"I don't allow anyone to talk to me this way. I am Princess Haya of Buredaan, I'm the wife of a Crown Prince. You should watch the way you talk to me." She stated, her voice was calm and she was leaned back.

Haya thought that would be the end of it but it really wasn't.

"Your title doesn't affect us, Princess Haya. Our father's the King, we don't care." Suhoor shot back, Haya smirked.

She was younger than Haya and clearly spoiled too.

"And here I thought I wouldn't meet any bitch in Maraaish." Haya mumbled, loud enough to be heard.

"Excuse me?" She stood up, Haya gestured with her finger instead of standing up too.

"Sit down. Don't create any drama." Haya stated.

She couldn't believe her own ears. Was she really telling someone to not create drama?

"If I tell my brother what you said to me-" Suhoor threatened but before she could even complete her sentence, Haya had interrupted her.

"Go ahead. Tell whatever you want but it's me he gets to sleep next to. I am his wife so either you show me the respect of a sister in law or you just shut the fuck up and don't come to my house again."

Okay.

So maybe she did want a little drama.

"Who do you think you are? It's been a month or what? You really think you're that special?"

Yes?

"You don't think I am that special? I am sure your brother would disagree." Haya stated with a small laugh, Najma stood up as she held her sister's arm.

"Suhoor, please." She pleaded, looking at both of the women.

"Brother would get really upset if he saw you two arguing." She said, finding no expression on Haya's face.

"Haya, we're not here to fight. Suhoor is just close to Adil and-"

Haya wanted to roll her eyes but she didn't, finding the apologetic look on the girl's face.

"I'm sorry on her behalf." Najma apologised. She didn't need to. She hadn't said a word.

Haya shook her head.

"I understand, Najma. You don't have to apologise." She shrugged it off.

She was obviously pissed but she didn't want to unleash her wrath on the wrong person.

"How can you say sorry to her after all the horrible things she said?" Suhoor asked, still not backing down.

Clearly she wasn't like Amir.

"You started it. Just stop now." Najma mumbled to her, both the girls smiling as Amir entered again.

Haya remained calm and seated in the same position as before, moving at a side to make space for her man.

"I'm sorry. They just won't stop calling so I am putting my phone away now." He said, putting his phone on the table.

Haya smiled.

"It's alright, love. We were just talking anyway."

Haya decided to change the topic and talk about something light, instead..she found Suhoor speaking up again.

"Brother, I think you should talk to father about Adil's marriage. Everyone has their eyes on him, it's high time he gets married, no?"

"Adil will marry when he finds someone he can actually love. You shouldn't worry for him." Amir replied, not understanding the sudden comment.

Haya nodded.

"I agree. Everyone should have their own path, you know. I mean, Adil seems like a free bird." She stated, continuing as she enjoyed the pissed off expression on the girl's face.

"You know who he reminds me of? My cousin Aaliyah. She's exactly like that."

Haya further said, smiling again.

"Too bad it's usually the opposites that attract." Suhoor shot back.

"Usually, yes." Haya smirked.

The entire night was pleasant after that but it wasn't too pleasant for Haya.

"Aaliyah, that bitch is so spoiled. You have no idea how I controlled myself." Haya grumbled, throwing off her shoes in the dressing room.

"You called her a bitch. I don't think that's control." She heard Aaliyah's response, chuckling.

"I didn't call her out in front of Amir. That's control." Haya argued, pondering herself about it.

She didn't know if she hadn't told Amir because she didn't want to involve him in any drama or because she was fearful about whose side he will take.

No matter how confident she was in front of his sisters, there was a part that kept nagging at her.

"Why didn't you?" Aaliyah asked the same question and Haya sighed, answering with the response she found the most suitable.

"I don't know. I just didn't want to bother him with such petty issues."

"So what are you going to do about it?"

"Oh I'm not. You are." Haya said with a slight chuckle, Aaliyah frowned a little in confusion.

"Huh?"

"You better pull your pants up and charm the fuck out of Adil. I want you to marry him." Aaliyah couldn't believe her own ears.

She didn't think Haya was serious about it all back in Buredaan but she sounded quite serious now.

"Haya, what the fuck?" She cursed, not understanding how Haya thought she'd be able to do this.

"I'm serious, Aaliyah. He is a pretty good guy anyway and a Prince. You should score." She suggested, her friend clicked her tongue.

"Haya."

"Say yes or I'll just hang up." She threatened and Aaliyah sighed.

Adil had proved himself to be a good person so far. They had talked about quite a few things and while mostly, he seemed amused by her..Aaliyah somehow knew that he had developed a liking.

She didn't think he liked her enough to marry her though.

"I've been talking to him quite alot lately, he's a little pervy but also so sweet. I don't think dating him can be so hard." Haya heard as she tied her hair in a pony tail and put lotion on her arms.

"Screw dating, marry him. Make him want you like no one he's ever wanted. Don't be so approachable." She ordered, Aaliyah only laughed.

"Yes, mother. Anything else?"

She had changed so much and yet, some parts of her hadn't changed at all.

"I need you here, you know. Can't you visit?" Haya enquired, looking at her face in the mirror.

She took off her earrings and swallowed, suddenly missing home for a second.

"And be approachable?"

"Oh yeah,"

She muttered with a sigh, wondering how easy it would have been in Buredaan. Maraaish was beautiful, Amir was perfect..but she didn't expect his sister to be so crude.

"I'll talk to you tomorrow? You sound tired." Aaliyah stated, Haya nodded even though she couldn't be seen.

"Would it be so mean to say that I don't like his family? They're all so fucking weird,"

She grumpily said, feeling guilty the moment she said it because Amir wouldn't think like that about her family.

"Maybe they think the same way about you, about us." Aaliyah suggested, Haya couldn't help but agree.

They probably thought she was out to ruin their son's reputation.

"Probably."

"Talk later?"

"Yes,"

She ended the phone call, ready for sleep.

"Its creepy to watch someone sleep, Amir. Even for a Prince."

Haya muttered with her eyes closed as she felt a constant shadow over her.

After changing into a night dress, she had found Amir already laid on the bed with a book in his hand. Since he seemed quite keen on reading it, Haya had simply kissed him goodnight and decided to sleep herself.

She felt pretty tired anyway and she didn't want to have any conversation with Amir, since she already knew he could bring up anything about his sisters' visit and she wouldn't be able to lie.

"Weren't you doing the same this morning?"

Amir retorted, reminding her of the fact that she had been watching him sleep early morning as well, as she had waited for him to wake up so she could talk.

Haya smiled, opening her eyes and throwing a look at him.

"I had genuine reason." She shot back, turning around as she felt Amir's gaze on her.

It wasn't the maybe we should have sex gaze. It wasn't the I love you so much and you're so golden in my eyes gaze either. It was the I'm trying to figure you out gaze and it was the only one that made Haya worry at times.

"What happened?" She enquired, knowing that curiosity wouldn't let her sleep anymore.

Amir cleared his throat, making her lean up on the bed so she was in a better position to talk. He pulled her in, his hand across her shoulder as she made herself comfortable.

"Did you not like my sisters?"

Oh.

Haya swallowed, contemplating on whether she should lie or just tell him whatever the hell she thought.

"What?" She mumbled, as if she didn't know what he was talking about.

Maybe she could just lie and get it over with.

Oh Amir, I love your sisters. Why would you think that?

She didn't think it would work though, Amir could read her eyes so easily.

"Tell me, Haya." He insisted, Haya sighed and shook her head at him..

"Amir, come on." She muttered, telling him to let it go and not make it a topic of conversation.

The Crown Prince didn't let it go though.

"I just want to know if you don't like them because it takes time for you to warm up to people or it's because they said something." He told her, hoping to hear a response that wouldn't make him feel bad.

"I think Najma is quite nice. She seems humble and sweet, unproblematic." Haya stated, telling him her honest opinion.

She liked Najma, she couldn't deny that. She wasn't too clingy or willing to be bestfriends, she was just calm and pleasant to sit and chat with.

"And Suhoor?" Amir enquired, Haya already knew Suhoor was his favourite since she was the youngest child of the family.

She bit her lip and slowly shook her head at him.

Amir clicked his tongue.

"I thought you'd like Suhoor. She's a little bit like you."

"Like me?" Haya asked, offended.

"Stubborn, I mean." Amir cleared, Haya just shrugged at him.

He looked genuinely concerned. Haya didn't know why. She understood that he loved his family and he loved her too, he didn't want any issues between them but even if there were, it wouldn't make any difference.

"Amir, I can deal with a tiny bit of girl drama. You don't need to worry about it. Hmm?" She said to him, placing a kiss on the side of his neck.

Amir knew that.

He knew that there was no need to be involved with this girl drama. But he also knew Haya, he knew that Haya was stubborn and she didn't back down so easily. He also knew that Suhoor was a little spoiled and stubborn too, she didn't take well to insults.

He didn't want any issues between the two.

"I don't want you to fight with my sister." He stated, looking her straight in the eye.

Haya shot him a look.

"And it's okay if she starts?" She asked, watching him shake his head at her.

"No, Haya. It's not okay." He denied, continuing.

"But you should have better things to be concerned about. She's only nineteen, she's a child." The way he spoke about his sister with such protectiveness, Haya felt both appreciation and annoyance.

She wanted to roll her eyes, but she didn't.

"I wasn't a child at nineteen, baby. She misbehaved." She cleared, Amir sighed.

He didn't know what exactly had happened but if his sister had misbehaved, then he needed to have a talk with her.

"I'll talk to her. You just let this go for now."

"I don't want you to talk to her, Amir. This shouldn't be your problem." She dismissed.

"But it is, Haya."

"So you just want me to keep my mouth shut?" Haya asked, frowning all of a sudden.

"I just want you to let it go."

She shook her head at him, he smiled down at her with his damn dimples.

"For me," Amir added, watching as Haya pouted.

She didn't want to say no to him but she also didn't want to back down.

"Please, baby." He mumbled, kissing her head.

Haya sighed and nodded.

"Fine, okay." She agreed, knowing that she wouldn't do anything after this anyway.

Aaliyah would.

Thoughts?

I've had usually less family drama in my stories so I'm kind of playing around with everything.

Let's see where this goes lol.
