Stark Mansion - Living Room

Tony had left to go see Pepper at the Stark Industries, so Tatiana had to leave with him.

Jax and Ana were still at the mansion, in the living room, having it cleaned up and fixed after the fight with Rhodey and Tony at the birthday party.

"So, you and your family do this for a living," Jax told her. "Tell me, is it good or bad?"

"It has its moments," Ana told him.

"So, this is what you meant about your family business," Jax told her.

"Yep," Ana answered. "Even my dad. He's not an assassin like we are, but he's just as much apart of this as we are."

Jax nodded. "Mm. Why Spiders? Huh? Why do you call yourselves Spiders?"

"Because we're quick, clean and lethal," Ana answered. "We only leave a mess behind if we're working with someone... or someones... else."

"So, all of this, all of it was a lie?" Jax asked.

"Our covers were," Ana answered. "And the fact that Tatiana and I are sisters to our mother."

"Yeah, how in the hell is that?" Jax asked. "She's like nine years older than you guys."

"In appearances, yes," Ana answered. "But not in reality."

"And what does that mean?" Jax asked.

"You really think I'm going to tell you all of our dirty little secrets just yet?" Ana replied. "Just know that it doesn't concern you."

Jax was slightly miffed. "Is that it? Were your names and that Natasha is actually your and Tatiana's mother the only lies? I deserve an answer to at least that, Ana."

Ana smirked, walking closer. "Why? Are you wondering about all the times that you flirted with me?"

"You flirted back," Jax replied.

"And you wanted to know if it was real," Ana told him. She stopped in front of him, tilting her head. "My job was to keep an eye on you, Jax. Not to flirt with you. That was all me." She stepped closer, nodding. "And, yes. It was real."

Ana walked past Jax to finish cleaning up.

Jax smiled a small smile.

Tatiana:

Stark Industries - CEO Office

Pepper was in her office, sitting at her desk, on the phone. "It was an illegal seizure of trademark property."

Natasha opened the door. "Miss Potts? Mr. Stark is here."

"It's fine, Natalie," Pepper told her. "Let him in."

Tony walked in.

Natasha closed the door, waiting in the hallway with Tatiana.

Tony looked at Pepper. "I'll just be a second."

Pepper held a finger toward him to tell him to wait, speaking into the phone. "Listen, it's our position that Stark has and continues to maintain proprietary ownership of the Mark II platform."

The TV was on. "When Tony and Jax Stark announced they were indeed Iron Man and Gold Strike, they were making a promise to America."

Pepper spoke into the phone. "No, the suits belong to us."

Tony looked at the man on TV.

"We trusted that they could look out for us. They obviously did not."

Pepper spoke into the phone. "Yeah, but you're not... Burt... Yes, they do."

The TV said:

TONY AND JAX STARK ARE DONE!

This is irresponsible. Ms. Potts is doing nothing to manage the situation. She's a pinhead!

"And now we learn that Tony's secretary, a woman named Virginia 'Pepper' Potts, has been appointed as CEO of Stark Industries. What are her qualifications? Ms. Potts is doing nothing to manage this terrible..."

Tony looked at the TV. "Mute."

The TV was put on mute.

Pepper spoke into the phone. "No. Burt... Burt... Burt, listen to me. Don't tell me that we have the best patent lawyers in the country and then not let me pursue this."

Tony looked at his boxed belongings at the side of the room. "I'll get this stuff out of here."

Pepper spoke into the phone. "Well, then, tell the President to sign an order. We'll talk about it at the Expo." Tony pulled down a sheet to reveal the City of Tomorrow from the video. "Hammer's giving some presentation tomorrow evening. Will the Starks be there?"

Tony walked toward her. "Will we?"

Pepper spoke into the phone. "No, they will not."

"I would like to be," Tony told her.

Pepper spoke into the phone. "Bye."

Tony sat down across from Pepper. "You got a minute?"

Pepper hung up. "No."

Tony took out a box of chocolate covered strawberries. "Come on. You just got off the phone. You're fine. 30 seconds."

Pepper looked at her watch. "29. 28."

"I was just driving over here, and I thought I was coming to basically apologize, but I'm not," Tony told her.

"You didn't come here to apologize?" Pepper asked.

"Look, that goes without saying, and I'm working on that," Tony told her. "But I haven't been entirely upfront with you, and I just want to try to make good." He looked at a spinning object on her desk. "Can I move this? This is crazy. It's like a Ferris wheel going."

"No," Pepper answered.

Tony rolled his chair toward the other side of the desk so he didn't have to look at the spinning object. "Do you know how short life is? And if I never got to express... and by the way, this is somewhat revelatory to me. And I don't care. I mean, I care. It would be nice. I'm not expecting you to... Look, here's what I'm trying to say. I'm just gonna say it."

"Let me stop you right here, okay?" Pepper asked. "Because if you say 'I' one more time, I'm gonna actually hurl something at your head, I think. I am trying to run a company. Do you have any idea what that entails?"

"Yes," Tony answered.

"People are relying on you to be Iron Man, and you've disappeared, and people are relying on Jax to be Gold Strike, and he's disappeared," Pepper told him. "And all I'm doing is putting out your fires and taking the heat for it. I am trying to do the job that you were meant to do." Tony put his hand to his head. "Did you bring me strawberries? Did you know that there's only one thing on Earth that I'm allergic to?"

Tony looked down. "Allergic to strawberries. This is progress, Pepper. I knew there was a correlation between you and this."

"I need you..." Pepper trailed off.

"I need you, too," Tony told her.

"To leave now," Pepper finished.

"That's what I'm trying to..." Tony trailed off when he realized what she had said.

Natasha and Happy walked in.

 "Ms. Potts?" Natasha asked.

"Hi, come on in," Pepper told her.

Natasha walked toward them. "Wheels up in 25 minutes."

"Thank you," Pepper told her.

"Anything else, boss?" Happy asked.

"I'm good, Hap," Tony told him.

"No, I'll be just... another minute," Pepper told him.

Natasha handed a clipboard to Pepper.

Pepper started to sign.

Tony cleared his throat. "Are you blending in well here, Natalie? Here at Stark Industries? Your name is Natalie, isn't it?" He pointed from Pepper to Natasha. "I thought you two didn't get along."

"No, that's not so," Pepper told him.

"It's just me you don't care for," Tony told her. Pepper didn't answer, standing, handing the clipboard to Natasha. "No? Nothing?"

Pepper looked at Natasha. "We should really be going."

"I couldn't agree more," Natasha told her.

Pepper and Natasha looked at Tony, walking past him, out of the room, leaving. Happy followed them.

Tatiana walked in, toward Tony. "I'm surprised you can keep your mouth shut."

"Boy, you, your sister, your mother, you're good," Tony told her. "You are mind-blowingly duplicitous. How do you do it? You just tear things... You're triple impostors. I've never seen anything like the three of you. Is there anything real about any of you? Do you even speak Latin?" Tatiana spoke in Latin, turning toward the door. "Which means? Wait. What? What did you just say?"

Tatiana turned to face him. "It means you can either walk out of here yourself and drive home, or I can have you collected."

"You're good," Tony told her, standing, walking toward the City of Tomorrow.

"What are you doing?" Tatiana asked.

"Solving the riddle to my heart," Tony answered. "Or, trying to, at least." He turned to Tatiana. "Hey, while you're here, you can at least make yourself useful." Tatiana raised an eyebrow at him, giving him a look. "Help me take this thing apart and bring it back to the mansion, Jax and Ana so we can figure this thing out together."

Tatiana looked at him critically.

Stark Mansion - Garage / Workshop

Tony and Tatiana carried in two pieces of the City of Tomorrow.

Jax and Ana carried in the other two pieces of it.

They put the pieces on the table, putting them together.

Jax blew the dust off the model.

"Jarvis, could you kindly Vac-U-Form a digital wire frame?" Tony asked. "We need a manipulatable projection."

Jarvis did as told, making a hologram of the City of Tomorrow in front of them.

Jarvis: "1991 Stark Expo model scan complete."

Tony and Jax lifted the hologram, pulling it away from the table, spreading it out in front of them.

"How many buildings are there?" Ana asked.

Jarvis: "Am I to include the Belgian waffle stands?"

"That was rhetorical," Ana told him. "Just show us."

Jax snapped his fingers, pointing to the right.

The hologram spun around.

Jax saw something on the map. "What does that look like to you? Not unlike an atom. In which case the nucleus would be here." He put his finger on the map. "Highlight the unisphere."

Jax enlarged the atom-like sphere.

"Lose the footpaths, Jarvis," Tony told him. "Get rid of them."

"What is it exactly you're trying to achieve?" Tatiana asked.

Tony sighed. "We're discovering... Correction. We're rediscovering a new element, I believe."

"Jarvis, lose the landscaping, the shrubbery, the trees," Jax told him. "Parking lots, exits, entrances." All of the said things disappeared. "Structure the protons and the neutrons using the pavilions as a framework."

Jarvis did as told.

Tony and Jax enlarged the hologram so that it surrounded the four of them.

Ana and Tatiana looked around, impressed and surprised.

"Dad's been dead for almost 20 years, and he's still taking me to school," Tony told them.

Jax clapped his hands.

The enlarged hologram disappeared.

Jarvis: "The proposed element should serve as a viable replacement for palladium."

Tony smiled a small smile. "Thanks, Dad."

Jarvis: "Unfortunately, it is impossible to synthesize."

"Oh, really?" Jax asked. "Get ready for a major remodel. We're back in hardware mode."

Later

Ana and Tatiana shot a wall with two devices that cracked the wall.

Jax and Tony were drilling into the floor, revealing a safe underneath. They started to get to work, dropping a rope into the hole to create a pulley system to lower the safe down into the garage.

They were carrying metal elements out of a crate, connecting them into the holes in the wall that Ana and Tatiana had made.

"Hey, we're playing for the home team, girls, you and all your Fabulous Furry Freak Brethren," Tony told them. "So, thanks for helping us work and not breaking our balls."

Ana gave him a weird look. "You're welcome. I guess."

Jax smirked.

Tatiana picked up a metal sphere. "What's this doing here?"

"That's it," Jax told her. "Bring that to me."

"You know what this is?" Tatiana asked, walking closer, handing the sphere to Jax.

"It's exactly what we need to make this work," Jax told them. "Lift the coil."

Ana and Tatiana lifted the coil of a pipe.

Jax and Tony put the sphere underneath, working.

"Drop it," Tony told them.

Ana and Tatiana let go.

They continued to work.

Jarvis: "Initializing prismatic accelerator. Approaching maximum power."

A laser started to shine from the pipes, cutting along the wall, starting a small, small fire.

"Whoops," Jax told them.

The laser cut through a shelf, hitting the sphere.

It started to glow brightly.

Tony turned the machine off.

A triangle within the sphere was glowing.

"That was easy," Tony told them.

Ana and Tatiana put out the fire.

Tony and Jax overlooked the triangle within the spear.

Tony grabbed a set of pliers, carefully pulling the triangle out.

Jax smirked. "Congratulations, girls. We have created a new element."

Tony put the triangle into the core of an arc reactor.

Jarvis: "Sir, the reactor has accepted the modified core. I will begin running diagnostics."

Later

Dummy was looking around.

"Dummy, can you clean up your mess?" Jax asked. "You know we don't..."

Jarvis: "Incoming call with a blocked number."

Tony looked at Ana and Tatiana. "You didn't tell me our phone privileges was reinstated."

Ana smirked.

"We figured it would be a lovely surprise," Tatiana told them.

"Ha," Jax told her sarcastically.

"Jarvis, answer phone," Tony told him.

Jarvis answered the phone, putting it on speaker for them to hear.

"Hey, Starks," Ivan told them. "How you doing? I double cycle."

"What?" Tony asked.

Ivan was in his room at the Hammer Industries. "You told me double cycle's more power. Good advice."

"You sound pretty sprightly for a dead guy," Jax told him, turning to give Ana and Tatiana a look.

"You, too, Jax," Ivan told him.

Tatiana walked out, leaving to make a phone call.

Ana shook her head to silently tell them that they didn't know.

Tatiana was in a hallway on her phone. "Ivan Vanko is calling the Starks. Run a trace on him."

A man's voice was on the other line. "Yes, ma'am."

"Now, the true history of the Stark name will be written," Ivan told them.

Tatiana spoke into her phone. "Come on. Where is he?"

"Accessing the Oracle grid," the man told her. "Eastern Seaboard."

"What your father id to my family over 40 years, I will do to the two of you in 40 minutes," Ivan told them.

"Sounds good," Jax told him sarcastically. "Let's get together and hash it out."

The man on the phone spoke to Tatiana. "Tri-State area. Manhattan and outlying boroughs."

Ivan spoke to Tony and Jax. "I hope you're ready."

Ivan hung up.

Tatiana spoke into the phone. "Did you find him or not?"

"Not," the man answered. "Call trace incomplete."

Tatiana hung up, walking toward the others. "Ivan got off the phone too quickly for an agent to trace him."

"So, if we gotta find him, we gotta do it ourselves," Tony told them, taking the arc reactor off the table, putting it in his chest.

"Dad..." Jax trailed off.

"Jarvis will run some tests," Tony told him. "But you and I have a job to do."

Jax sighed, knowing that Tony wasn't going to listen to anything he said, anyway. "Jarvis, assemble the suits while you're at it. Put them together now."

The arc reactor started to glow brightly.

Tony coughed. "That tastes like coconut. And metal."

The arc reactor glowed even brighter.

Ana started to worry. "Mr. Stark..."

Tony coughed. "Oh, wow, yeah!"

The glow from the reactor shone around through everything.
