⚡️TWENTY.
━━━bonnie & charlie!
BIRDIE AND LORELEI sneaked into the Gryffindor common room barely making any sound as they did so, both of them stared at the Fat Lady who glared them down, "Banana Fritters" they said in perfect synchronization, "When I was your age I didn't go sneaking into other houses' dorms" she said with a stern voice.
"How long ago was it? Like a thousand years ago?" Lorelei said in a monotonous voice and the Fat Lady gasped comically, "Are you going to let us in now or what?"
The Fat Lady scoffed and then opened the portrait door, Birdie shot her an apologetic look and then walked in with Lorelei guiding their way, on the couch near the fireplace sat Harry with a pillow and a cloak on his lap, "Hey, little bro" Birdie smiled at her brother who waved back with a sad expression on his face.
"Everything ok with you, kid?" asked Birdie as she sat down next to him on the couch, "You look tired and sad" Lorelei gave her a look which Birdie knew meant that she needed her to hurry up.
"Well, yes, I guess" Harry said with a shrug, "It's just that nobody trusts me, I've told them thousands of times — I didn't put my name in but they don't listen to me, Ron, who's supposed to trust me doesn't even wanna look at me"
"Hey, give it time, you know" Birdie put her hand on his shoulder reassuringly, "The rumors, the gossip, the stares — they all eventually die down after a while, just keep your head down and do anything possible to stay out of trouble"
"That's going to be a bit hard considering I'm fighting a dragon tomorrow" Harry said with a scoff.
"A what?!" Birdie and Lorelei both exclaimed together.
"Yeah, apparently almost everyone knew about it, I had to tell Cedric though" said Harry.
"Well, Cedric didn't tell us" Lorelei frowned, "Did you prepare for it? What are you going to do?"
"Professor Moody's been helping me" said Harry in an unsure voice as he looked at Birdie apologetically, he knew Birdie would get angry because she'd told him to stay away from Moody.
"Harry I'm telling you this in the nicest way possible — stay the fuck away from Moody, I don't know what it is about him but something is throwing me off" Birdie said and Harry sighed.
"I would listen to you but right now he's the only one helping me" said Harry.
Birdie's lips turned into a straight line, "There isn't much we can do today, I suggest you go up and get some sleep — we don't want you to be tired for your big day tomorrow"
"Right, well" he held up the cloak, "Here you go" Birdie took the cloak from his hand and passed him a smile.
"Go along, now" She flattened his hair a bit, "Get some rest, kid"
"You know, I'm not actually a kid anymore" Harry said with a grin, remembering the first time he'd seen his sister — he was a first year and she was waiting for him in the Entrance Hall, she had hugged him really tight as said 'My Helga, you're so little, oh my godric you're such an adorable kid — look at your hair!' and Harry had just stared at her confused as fuck.
"You'll always be a kid to me" Birdie grinned back, "Alright now, I have to get going — go, sleep, oh, I almost forgot here's some cookies I made for you" she handed him a Tupperware container and then waved as she walked out of the common room.
"Finally, I thought you guys were never going to stop talking" Lorelei said rolling her eyes, "Ugh, siblings"
"Riiiiight, because you totally don't question the shit out of Regan even if she's just five minutes late" Birdie said, her tone dripping with sarcasm, "Oh, and wait — when was the last time you sneaked into her dorm to make sure she's ok? You do that every week!"
"Someone's gotta look out for her?" Lorelei said, "The girl wasn't born with a zip on her mouth"
"I think it's great" Birdie shrugged, "I mean, it's great that she's opinionated — if she wasn't she'd get eaten alive in Slytherin"
"Oh, look I see her now!" Lorelei exclaimed, pointing towards the blonde managing the dragons in the distance, Birdie's eyes widened as she stared the girl — it had been a really long time since the girls had seen Bonnie.
"Race you there?" Birdie challenged.
"You're on, Potter" Lorelei smirked.
On the count of three, both of them broke into a sprint, pushing each other ever so slightly as they made their way into the forest, of course, Lorelei was winning — Birdie was about as athletic as a sloth, she knew she had no chance against someone who plays Quidditch very expertly, but it was still fun.
"AHHHHH!" Bonnie McKinnon exclaimed excitedly after seeing the two girls and she ran forward to tackle them both into a hug, "Look at you! You've grown so much!"
"Look at us?" Birdie questioned.
"Look at you!" Lorelei completed for her, emphasizing the word you as she motioned at the Blonde, "You look amazing!"
"Pfft" Bonnie said jokingly waving her off, Birdie took in the blonde's appearance, she was now super tan and it seemed like a million freckles were on her body everywhere, her eyes were sparkling and an even brighter shade of blue than before and her hair had gotten more blonde in the sunlight than ever before. In conclusion, Bonnie McKinnon looked fit as fuck.
"Aren't you going to introduce me to your friends, sunshine?" Another figure stepped into the light as Bonnie McKinnon rolled her eyes frustratedly, "Oh, Birdie and Lorelei, good to meet you again!"
"It's nice to meet you again too, Charlie" Lorelei said staring at the boy, it wasn't like Birdie didn't notice Charlie — of course, he was a sight to see with his muscles, his freckle covered skin and strong jawline, but Birdie's eyes now seemed to find any boy other than Fred just ok, what could she say? She was hopelessly in love.
"Right, now before you steal something else from me..." Bonnie said, "...like, I don't know — my friends, you should go back to the tent"
"Bonnie, I swear I didn't mean to—" Charlie tried to explain himself but Bonnie cut him off.
"Yeah, right" she said bitterly, "Good night"
Charlie passed her an exasperated look before plastering a small smile on his face for Birdie and Lorelei that the two returned.
"What's up with you two?" asked Birdie with her brows furrowed.
"Oh, it's a long story..."
✿
"FRED, HEY, WAIT!" Birdie said as she jogged to catch up with the redhead who was holding a tray of his products in his, Fred grinned at her as she came into view, "I'm sorry about the other day — something came up, but I just want you to know that I haven't forgotten about it, I'm going to plan the best proposal ever!"
"Slow down, Robin" Fred said as she chuckled, "It's ok, you can do it whenever you're ready" he placed his hand on her shoulder sending a jolt of sparks through her whole body and squeezed it reassuringly. Birdie assumed he must've known something was off with her these days.
"Well, I'm not going to make you wait that longer, you know?" said Birdie, "I just want it to be perfect and it's getting there"
"I can wait" Fred shrugged, "Until then..." he trailed off as he leaned in and pressed a kiss on her cheek, Birdie blushed and a smile sneaked its way on her face, much like the the grin on his face, "...see you later! Got to make some money now!"
Birdie watched Fred walk away with a dreamy smile on her face, that was until someone bumped into her though, she turned to them and apologized, "Sorry"
"What are you sorry for?" Hope said with a bitter look on her face, "And what's up with that smile on your face?"
"What's up with that frown on your face?" Birdie retorted, "You'd think someone would be happy when given candy"
"I was" Hope nodded, "but then I ran out of them"
"Aw" Birdie cooed putting her hand around Hope's shoulders, "It's ok, Hope, I'll buy you some more"
"You will?" Hope asked her eyes wide with joy, "I knew I didn't keep you around for nothing all these years"
"Ouch" said Birdie holding her hand over her heart, "You wound me, Lupin" she pat that area three times, "Right here"
"Dramatic bitch" joked Hope, and Birdie pushed her to the side lightheartedly, both of them made their way to the stands where Bianca and Donna were already waiting for them.
"Helga, took you guys long enough" Bianca said making space for them beside her, "I've been hogging these seats for about half an hour now"
"Yeah, we had to turn away so many students" Donna said with a wince, "and let me just tell you — some of them were not happy"
"Well, we're here now" Birdie beamed at them, "Did we miss anything?"
"Only Lorelei's entire part" said Bianca.
"Shit" Birdie said as she took a seat down, "She's going to kill me"
"What were you doing anyway?" Donna asked as she took a sip of her water, "You look flushed"
"Nothing..." Birdie said and all three of the girls frowned but then went back to paying attention to the game.
"Who's turn is it now?" questioned Hope, her gaze fixated on the ground that had the dragon in it.
"I think it's Krum's turn now" said Bianca, she opened up a pack of popcorns and everyone gave her a look, "What? I'm gonna see a real dragon fight a human, give me a break — I'll be a better person tomorrow"
"Bee, there's your sister, is she ok?" Donna said and all the girls turned to look at where she was pointing, "She looks stressed"
"Shit" Bianca said putting down the bag of popcorn and rushed towards her sister without wasting a second, Birdie would've watched what happened next but she felt like she was invading her privacy.
The girls watched with curiosity as Viktor Krum blinded the dragon and had gotten the egg in his hand but then the dragon got scared and stumbled around in distress breaking a few of it's own eggs but Krum managed to get out of there anyway, a roar of applause surrounded him as he got pats on the back from his High Master.
Next was Fleur who in Birdie's opinion was the smartest of them all by putting the dragon to sleep, and she even walked away without a scratch — that is if you don't count the little skirt accident.
After Fleur came Eloise, the girl from the day they'd talked about Rita Skeeter, she had basically gotten bad burns after she tried to distract the dragon by floating the normal eggs to the other side, but none the less she got the golden egg without harming the dragon at all.
Birdie held her breath as she watched Cedric come on to the field, he looked around for a second as if he was searching for someone but then moved forward, he took out his hand and transformed one of the rocks into a dog, distracting the dragon.
Birdie cheered alongside the Hufflepuffs and the whole stadium as Cedric walked away with a few burns and slashes on his face.
Now it was Harry's turn...
Harry stepped out of the stadium with an unsure look on his face, it didn't take a genius to figure out he was scared — he had gotten one of the most dangerous dragons from the lot, the second most dangerous being Lorelei's.
Now the next few moments seemed to be a bit blurry to Birdie because she was too busy keeping her eyes closed everytime Harry got even remotely close to the dragon...which was like, the whole round but she knew Harry had used a summoning spell to get his firebolt and then became the fastest champion to retrieve the egg.
"Let's get the scores ready now, everyone!" Ludo Bagman announced as he and the whole row of headmasters raised their scores up one by one.
The scores ended up being partial to the students as each one of them had a headmaster of their school but to summarize it all Harry and Krum had tied for the first place, Lorelei and Cedric were second and Fleur was third with Eloise coming in on the fourth place.
Birdie genuinely thinks Lorelei would've gotten the first place if Karkaroff hadn't given her such poor marks, he was the only one who hadn't given her an eight or a nine. Horse shit, if you ask Birdie.
Birdie had one thought in her mind though, if the first task was this dangerous, how dangerous is the second task going to be?
hey help sorry for the late update!!
