Cyndaquil was still spooked from what happened, so it stayed in Ethan's bag the whole time. Meanwhile, Mareep was able to become the powerhouse of the team. She easily overpowered Falkner and even evolved during training. Now as a Flaaffy, it really challenged Totodile and a few others.

Cyndaquil finally rejoined the battlefield in Azalea, but it didn't show full power. Silver later found Ethan had lost against the gym leader and was hiding in the center from people. Cyndaquil was quiet as it tried to talk to its trainer. Silver gently picked it up and took it outside, where Totodile was waiting. It hugged its friend before talking it into training and trying to get back back up to Flaaffy's power.

Afterwards, Cyndaquil was able to defeat Bugsy as flames took over the field. Both Totodile and Cyndaquil evolved, they took the chance for a second battle, Silver now equipped with a Ghastly and Zubat. Now that Quilava was willing to battle, it had more of a rush than before.

Flaaffy showed more power when it came to the well. Team Rocket was in there, so they battled them out of the region. Ethan's eyes glowed as he called out.

"Quilava! Smokescreen! Flaaffy! Charge!"

The two status moves hit instantly, Flaaffy powering up while Quilava covered the field in smoke. Ethan then called out again.

"Now! Flamethrower! Thunderbolt!"

Silver froze at the power the two pokemon put out. None of Team Rocket lasted once they sent out their moves. Ethan hummed as he looked around for other opponents, which were escaping.

"See!"

Silver hummed. Ethan had already left for Goldenrod City, so they were able to talk about the Well battle.

"So then what is he hiding?"

"I don't know. But we can't let him continue!"
