Chapter 80

"Kyran, hello?" Scarlet shouted as she ran through the hallways of her home.

She didn't know where anyone would be but she had to explain everything to her husband. She had to tell his parents how sorry she was.

As she approached their living room, the door was slightly open, leaving a dim light pouring out and into the dark hallway.

Scarlet could hear muffled sobs and she knew it would be his parents.

But as she entered, she was surprised to see Kyran. Although, that explained the sobs because he has returned home.

His mum and dad were hugging him really tight and appreciating his presence.

When the door creaked, they turned in Scarlet's direction.

She felt terrible that she put them through so much sadness and sorrow but Kyran was actually glad to see her.

He pulled away from his parents and quickly walked over to his wife.

He pulled her into a hug, one in which she tightly returned.

"I don't even want to know what happened and how we got back here. I'm just glad we are" He mumbled into the side of her face.

"I'm so sorry Kyran. It was selfish of me to put my life at risk without telling you."

He rubbed her back while his parents watched them.

They've noticed a new light within Scarlet and they really hoped it stayed.

"It's alright, that doesn't matter anymore. We're alive and together, that's all that matters now."

"I can't wait to meet Corey's parents," Oliver said as he almost bounced on his seat with excitement.

Vinny shook his head with a gentle smile.

"I'm so happy for him but I can't believe the kids chose wishes like that" Madison beamed. "You boys have raised your child amazingly."

Oliver always loved to hear that. Raising a kid is hard, especially Rayvon because he was quite the trouble maker when he was young.

He was rebellious and wouldn't listen to them a lot of the time.

But now, he is a somewhat mature and wise eighteen-year-old.

Just then, the door to the dining room opened and in walked Luka and Rayvon who ducked right at the last minute.

Duke was still thinking about raising the door frames for him.

They were followed by Corey, Panuleon, Richard and Samantha.

Corey's parents were amazed by this wonderful mansion. It was huge and beautiful. It looked very expensive but they stopped at a painting of their son and Panuleon.

It dated back almost three hundred years and they know they've missed out on a lot in his life.

But now they've got time to make up for that.

Everyone in the dining room stood up, getting ready to greet Corey's parents.

They had a lot of people to meet but that's when Samantha noticed Jenny.

Her sister.

Panuleon forgot to explain that she and Zachariah also came through into this world.

"Jenny?" She whispered and squeezed Richards arm.

Everyone knew they were sisters and they immediately stood back to give them some space.

Jenny got overly excited so fast and instantly ran over to her.

Samantha expected it from her but she was so happy to be able to hug her.

"I'm so pleased you're home!"

Now, Corey's parents knew that their son not only had Panuleon but he also had his Aunt Jenny and Uncle Zachariah. They were happy that he had some family with him throughout all these years.

Samantha squeezed her sister so tight while Richard hugged Zachariah.

It was such a lovely reunion to witness.

Corey was still staring at his parents with a shimmer of disbelief in his eyes.

They were right in front of him and it was hard for him to get used to it.

But he was thankful and happy.

It's important for him to realise that they are here and he will never take them for granted.

When everyone met Corey's parents, they saw how much Corey actually looked like them.

They were very lovely people and Madison got on with Samantha straight away.

Richard and John talked like they've known each other for years and everyone knew they would fit into this family exceptionally well.

Now, it was lunchtime and everyone was happily sitting at the dining table, appreciating how normal and relaxed their lives now felt.

Scarlet hasn't come back yet but they knew she would want to spend time with her husband and his family first.

Corey's parents were sitting opposite their son, Panuleon and Luka.

They just couldn't believe that he had a son. But it was so heartwarming and Luka was polite, kind and very loving. It was clear to them that Corey and Panuleon have been great parents.

Now, they couldn't help but watch him. He was thirty-eight and a man, not a teenager.

That would take them a while to get over.

"Luka, what did you think of heaven?" Panuleon asked.

"Um," He hummed quietly. "I thought it was very white."

He spoke the truth and everyone here who has been to heaven would agree.

"Yes, I wish they would allow some form of colour" The angel sighed.

"Well, you and Corey should break into heaven and slap those plain angels with a bucket of paint," Oliver said and Vinny pretty much choked on his drink.

Everyone chuckled and shook their heads.

Oliver comes out with some crazy things. But this was more often than not and they love him for it.

"Express our colourful souls" He smiled. "But we can leave Vinny at home."

Everyone laughed. His soul was probably very dark.

The vampire crossed his arms and rolled his eyes. Although, he was amused.

Just then, the door to the dining room opened and Jed came in with something in his arms.

"I have a special delivery for Vinny Vanderwood" He beamed.

Everyone looked to see what he was carrying.

In his arms was a cute ball of black fur.

Also known as Orin.

Vinny immediately stood up and walked over.

"Where was she?" He asked and took her from the angel.

"In heaven, an angel just landed and gave her to me but look, there's a note on the collar."

Vinny pulled the dark red collar around the cat's neck to see a miniature envelope, attached with some string.

It had his name on it but he was going to read it out loud.

He could tell that everyone was curious.

He stroked her as he sat down, he loved this cat and it filled him with joy when she started purring loudly.

"What does the letter say?" Oliver asked with interested eyes.

"I don't know, I haven't opened it yet" Vinny chuckled.

He waited until Orin settled comfortable on his lap before pulling the envelope off her and slowly opening it.

Inside was a piece of paper that looked like it was hand written.

It was neat and probably written in fountain pen.

The vampire cleared his throat and started to read.

Dear Vinny Vanderwood,

After the war was over, Orin had done her part as a guardian angel. We took her to heaven and formed her into a cat that now lives a longer life so you can cherish her for longer years. I understand that you're still confused about who and what she is, or was.

The kitten was sent to us from a friend of the Vanderwood's, someone named Charles. This person watches over the family from time to time and he was determined to help when your situation was stressful. This person knew that you wanted a pet and so he used his memories of you and transformed his thoughts into an animal.

If you're still confused, Orin is simply just Vinny.

She's made from memories of you and we understood that you would get attached to her because she is part of your mind.

We added the extra touch of you being able to see the kids when Luka touched her but that didn't help much in the war. The kids were brave in the fight.

But now, the war is won and you can return to your normal lives. This family has helped heaven and we will never stop being grateful.

So we return to you this cat in hopes that she can blend into the family and become a great symbol of Charles, your old doorman.

He says that this family made his life happy and full of content. He was honoured that you let him stay in the mansion even when he was too old to do his job. You were good to him and he has tried to show his gratitude in any way he possibly can.

Thank you to the Vanderwood's and the Taylor family.

Best wishes,

The angels.

When Vinny finished reading, Everyone's heads were spinning. They couldn't believe that Orin was only here because of Charles, their old doorman wanted to help Vinny when he was stuck in the other world.

It was very nice for them to know that he still watches over this family.

Oliver loved that man and he was glad that the memory of him could live on in this cat.

As weird as it was, they've gotten used to accepting the abnormal.

"So," Vinny said, trying to get a better understanding of things. "Orin is part of me because Charles somehow made her up out of his memories of me and the angels sent her to me when I was in the other world because they knew I'd get attached and it would help me get through those years without my soulmate."

Everyone stared at him, but that kind of made sense.

"And breathe" Oliver chuckled. "But yes, I think that's what they were trying to tell us. Orin now ages like us so we won't lose her in ten years."

Vinny watched that simple cat, curled up on his lap as he stroked her soft fur.

"Thank you, Charles," He said.

He always liked that guy.
