"Shhh, it's okay Lu, just focus on me" Rayvon whispered and tried so hard to keep calm. His soulmate was hurting so bad.

Luka was shaking, crying and gripping his half vampire hard.

He couldn't move because he knew he'd be in even more pain.

Everywhere hurt.

Mila tried taking a step forward but Jed was protecting the kids.

"If you get any closer, I will kill you."

He knew they couldn't stay here long. Luka needed serious attention and he needed to get out of the freezing cold temperatures.

"I'd like to see you try" Mila grinned.

Rayvon wanted to make her suffer but there was no way he would leave Luka's side. Not when he needed him so bad.

"I'm just going to lift you out of the snow."

The half angel was shivering a lot and his lips were slightly blue.

"No, p-please don't move me" He begged but Rayvon had no other choice.

"I'm so sorry" He whispered before quickly putting his arms under him and lifting him up.

Luka screamed with tremendous pain which did make Rayvon feel a little dizzy.

He cried even harder as the tears streamed down his face. He wanted to fall unconscious because then he wouldn't feel it anymore.

His heartfelt sobs echoed through the field.

The sun was beginning to set and the snow was falling even faster.

"Jed we need to leave," Rayvon said desperately.

Luka's wounds couldn't be exposed like this.

"You're not going anywhere" Mila smirked. She was going to hurt Jed and maybe even kill him. With him alive, he was too much of a problem. "Let's see how far you get without your guardian angel."

Rayvon looked up with fear and panic.

He didn't want anything to happen to Jed.

But just as Mila was about to pull something out of her back pocket, someone sped up behind her at lightning speed.

The person smashed Mila in the head with a big rock, making the demon collapse to the ground.

The person dropped the stone and stumbled back.

Jed was stunned to see that familiar face.

Scarlet.

"How did you get here?"

"I'll tell you later, but Luka needs to go somewhere safe. I heard his cries from the other end of the field."

Jed turned and ran over to Rayvon. He didn't care that Scarlet was a potential threat, he had to trust her just this once.

"I'll take him to the safe house and then I'll come back for you."

Rayvon nodded but he found it hard to hand over Luka who screamed again at the movement.

"Don't-Don't leave me" He sobbed and gripped his waistcoat.

"I'll be there in no time, I promise" He whispered before kissing his forehead.

Jed wasted no time before slowly standing up and vanishing.

Rayvon watched that spot, instantly feeling lonely and sad.

Scarlet studied him.

He has grown so much.

He's big and tall but looks so much like her brother.

"I'm sorry," She said.

Rayvon turned but he could barely look her in the eye. He was talking to Luka in his head so he couldn't say anything to her.

Not that he wanted to.

Mila lay either unconscious or dead, nobody knew but nobody had time to check because Jed landed in the snow.

"Quick, let's go."

Rayvon held onto the angel but scarlet stepped forwards.

"Wait, can I come too?"

They shared a glance but some part of them felt guilty.

She did help them out with Mila.

"Fine," Jed said.

She immediately ran over and held onto them both.

Rayvon didn't want her close but they had no choice and he was mainly focusing on Luka anyway.

Jed stretched his wings and headed back to the safe house.

Panuleon was almost at the safe house, the snow and the winds made it difficult for him.

He could feel that something wasn't right and someone was in trouble.

He didn't know who it was but at the moment, Corey was his main priority and he had to get him some shelter.

When he had a feeling that he was close, he prepared for landing.

Rayvon instantly pulled away from the angel and ran over to his soulmate.

"Are there any first aid kits?" Scarlet asked.

She was actually very concerned about Luka. Which is a surprise because she was the one who last caused him so much pain.

But his injuries looked serious and it was clear that he had broken his legs and his arm.

The blood from his head wound had slowed but a lot of his injuries were open fractures and Rayvon was concerned about infection.

Jed was frantically searching a cupboard but just as he found the first aid box, Panuleon landed with Corey in his arms.

The first thing he heard was his son's awful cries.

He immediately put down his soulmate and ran over.

"Oh my gosh," He gasped as Rayvon filled with relief. He could be healed. 

Panuleon rested both of his hands against his son's chest. He has never focused so hard on healing anyone but this was incredibly serious.

Luka whimpered and tried to settle down.

He waited for the cool feeling of his dad's healing energy but it didn't come.

Panuleon then closed his eyes and tried focusing harder.

Luka waited but still, he didn't feel anything.

"No, no, no," The angel said and touched his son's head.

Why are his powers not working?

Jed and Scarlet watched but Luka's wounds didn't disappear.

"Why aren't you healing him!?" Rayvon asked.

"I don't know, it's not working!"

Jed looked at Corey who was lying on the floor.

"Is Corey okay?"

"He exposed his power and his mind is trying to recover."

"maybe that's why you can't heal him," Jed said. "Maybe you're not strong enough when Corey's not conscious."

Luka then burst into tears again.

The pain was too much for him not to cry out.

Panuleon couldn't believe that he wasn't able to heal his son but he was a doctor in heaven and knows how to tend to his injuries.

"Give me the first aid box."

"I think this might be the way out" Vinny whispered.

He, Oliver, John, Duke, and Madison were listening next to a big metal door.

They could hear voices on the other side but they didn't know if it was demons or not.

What was left of the daylight was shining through the cracks around the edge.

"Should we open it and try to fight our way out?" Oliver suggested. They had a major advantage with Vinny being able to control his power so easily.

"I think that's the only option we have."

Everyone gave each other looks of encouragement.

If they were to be successful, they had to be brave.

Just then, the whispering behind the door stopped and everything fell silent.

The vampires stayed still and listened. Oliver couldn't hear much anyway with his human hearing.

But there was not a single sound to be heard.

There was no movement, nothing.

But suddenly,

A huge BOOM crashed against the metal door.

Making everyone jump back with fright.

The noise echoed through the warehouse. Forcing Oliver to cover his ears.

The BOOM continued as the Vanderwood's kept stepping back.

This was the only way out that they've found so they couldn't run away.

On the fifth BOOM, the door swung open quite fast.

Vinny flashed his fangs and protected Oliver as their eyes frantically searched for danger.

But all they got was big bright torches, shining in their eyes.

"We've found the Vanderwood's," A guy said and ordered for the gunmen to stand down.

Madison and Duke could've cried with relief.

It was the secret service.

"Come on, We'll take you to the safe house."

It took Panuleon almost forty-five minutes to put his son into a comfortable enough state that he wasn't screaming with pain.

He had put his broken bones into place, stitched up his wounds and bandaged his legs tight. He had disinfected them and pumped Luka full with antibiotics and pain relief.

His arm was put in a sling and also bandaged up for support. His head was cleaned and stitched together.

Rayvon had wrapped his soulmate up in blankets as he sat in the bedroom.

Luka lay on the bed, still in pain but nowhere near as sore as before.

The safe house had an interesting layout.

When you entered the front door, you were immediately standing in the kitchen and the living-room.

The stairs were on the right.

If you headed up those, there was just one big room that was full of beds. In that room, there were cupboards full of everything you would need and there were two bathrooms.

The house was designed to be small and the lack of separate rooms made sure it kept everyone together.

The windows were bulletproof and it was surrounded by the secret service who entered earlier when they heard people inside.

Jed had told them where the rest of the family were so that's how they got to the warehouse.

Right now, Scarlet had done everything she could to help.

She made the kids something warm to eat and Rayvon actually really appreciated that because it helped to warm Luka's little-injured body up.

She helped put the bedding on the beds and get whatever Panuleon needed.

She also put Corey in his bed and checked on him when the angel was tending to Luka.

So far, she was doing a very good job to gain the trust of everyone.

But Jed was keeping an eye on her as they sat in the bedroom.

"Can you get some sleep?" Rayvon asked Luka who looked completely exhausted. His eyes were red and puffy from all the crying he went through.

"Not right now, it hurts too much" He whispered.

"The pain relief will kick in soon," Panuleon said and gave him a reassuring smile.

Just then, they heard the door downstairs.

It was opening.

Jed immediately headed to the stairs, getting ready to inspect, guard and fight if he needed too.

When he reached the bottom, he was so thankful to see Duke and Madison who entered first.

"Jed" They smiled and hugged him.

They had been informed that him, the kids, Panuleon and Corey had made it to the safe house. They didn't know about Luka's injuries, though.

"I'm so happy you're all safe" He beamed as Vinny and Oliver took it in turns to hug him.

When John entered, he couldn't stop himself from giving him a big kiss.

"Hey Jed" John smiled while Oliver's heart burst with happiness.

He still loved to watch their affection.

"Is everyone else okay?" Madison asked while shutting the door.

There were bodyguards standing just outside.

Jed pulled back from his soulmate but held his hand as he got ready to explain.

"Well, we crossed paths with Mila on the way here. She knocked Luka off course and he fell out of the sky. He got really bad injuries but Scarlet helped-"

"Scarlet?" Vinny questioned. "What was she doing with Mila?"

Jed asked her that when they got to the house.

"She said that when the demons took you from the mansion, Mila took her and tried convincing her to help with the war. That's until she spotted us flying through the air. Mila muttered something about killing me as she followed us, leaving Scarlet behind." Jed paused, making sure everyone understood. '"Scarlet then knew she was after us and used that strange Vampire speed thing to find us. She got there just in time and knocked the demon out."

Everyone was shocked and surprised.

Scarlet actually helped for once.

"Is she still here?" Duke asked.

"Yes, She's upstairs but she has been a great help to Luka. He's still really hurting."

"Is Panuleon here? Why hasn't he healed him?" Madison asked.

"He can't because Corey is in the process of recovering from the power. Panuleon is not strong enough to heal him until his soulmate is awake."

Everyone looked at each other before heading upstairs.

They wanted to see how Luka and Rayvon were doing.

Scarlet watched everyone pile into the room but they ignored her and went straight over to the kids.

"How bad are his injuries?" Oliver asked before pulling his son into a hug.

"He broke both his legs, his arm, four ribs and he has a concussion," Panuleon said while Vinny rested a hand on his shoulder.

He could see that the angel felt terrible for not being able to heal him.

"I'm glad you're safe," Vinny said. "But maybe Rayvon can help him. I can make Oliver heal like a vampire without doing anything."

"Yes but we don't know if Rayvon heals like a vampire or a human. Whenever he has been injured, I've always just healed him."

Oliver then looked at Luka who had gone through a very traumatic experience and was still living it.

"I guess we'll find out in the morning" He ran a gentle hand through the half angel's hair and gave him a warm smile. "You're so brave, I would be screaming the house down if I were you."

Luka gave him a small smile but he was still in a lot of throbbing pain.

Rayvon looked down at his soulmate and kissed his knuckles. He was hoping with all his heart that he could heal him faster.

Duke and Madison glanced at their daughter who was staying out of everyone's way.

They gave her a small smile but they had no idea how much it meant for Scarlet to see that.

They didn't want to talk to her right now but Vinny actually wanted to have a chat with her later.

He wanted to thank her but that didn't mean she was forgiven.

"Right," Duke said and sat down on one of the beds. "Let's relax for now and we'll come up with a plan later."
