Chapter 70

The walls of the room felt like they were closing in on the family.

They didn't know how to escape but they knew that the only option was to put everyone in danger.

"Wait, if Luka and Rayvon are the main targets here, I'll take them somewhere safe," Jed said.

Everyone instantly weighed up their options but the main priority was to protect the kids.

"Do it," Panuleon said. "We'll stay and help fight."

"Wait, what if we want to help too?" Rayvon asked.

"That's not an option," Oliver said. "This might be your war but we're keeping you out of it until you have no choice but to fight."

Luka didn't want to leave his parents. He was scared that they'd get hurt but they wouldn't give him a choice.

"Don't worry, we got through the first war, we can get through this," Vinny said and pulled his son into a hug.

Panuleon and Corey hugged Luka as Oliver squeezed both Vinny and Rayvon into his embrace.

"Let us take care of this for you," Panuleon said. He could feel his son squeezing him tight and he knew he was scared.

"Just be careful, Please" Luka mumbled against Corey's shoulder and the angel's chest.

"We will," Corey said and hugged him tighter.

Duke, John, and Madison were nervous.

Especially Madison.

She couldn't fight very well but she was somewhat prepared. She knew Vinny and her husband would help to protect her but she didn't want to completely rely on them.

"Okay, go quickly," Panuleon said and guided his son over to Jed. He needed them to go before he felt too emotional.

Nobody wanted anyone to separate but it was for the best.

"I'm carrying Rayvon but Luka, would you prefer to be carried or fly with me?"

"I don't mind flying," Luka said. He really needed to stretch his wings anyway.

"Alright, let's go."

He took hold of Rayvon as they exposed their wings.

Everyone watched with confident eyes. This was the right decision.

And it wasn't a moment too soon because as they vanished, the doors opened.

They quickly turned to see the demon leader but he froze in his tracks.

Nobody was attached to the wall with chains and Vinny wasn't unconscious.

"For goodness sake. They said you'd be knocked out until morning" He grumbled and flashed a long silver knife.

Panuleon took a brave step forward, making the demon's intimidating expression alter slightly.

"Let us go."

Of course, an angel would try the none violent way first.

The demon let out a very evil laugh, one that echoed off the concrete walls.

"No."

The angel and Vinny shared a glance, knowing they now had to fight.

* * * * *

As Luka and Jed flew through the air, all Rayvon could do was cling onto the angel and hope that they got to their destination safely.

The air was chilly as the snow fell lightly against the wind.

Luka was cold but he had to keep up with Jed, they couldn't be separated.

* * * * *

The Vanderwood's had started their fight.

The demon leader ran when Panuleon got more threatening. The coward didn't even want to face those who he captured.

But the rest of the demons were not backing down and were not afraid to fight dirty. There was so many of them and nobody knew how they'd get out of here.

But they stayed in their couples to avoid anyone being separated, especially Panuleon and Corey.

John helped Duke to protected Madison.

As much as he wished he went with Jed, they needed his help here more than with the kids.

Panuleon and Corey were making their way through demon after demon. They didn't know when to give up.

But there appeared to be too many and they found themselves being pushed back against the wall.

Corey could feel something rising.

He knew it was the last thing he wanted to reveal but maybe in this situation, it was the best option.

Although, when he shows his power, his mind gets lost and it takes him a few days to recover.

"Can you hold it back?" Panuleon thought as he snapped a demon's neck who grabbed his soulmate.

"I don't think so."

Corey looked worried. He didn't want to lose himself.

"Vinny, reveal your power, Corey will do the same!" Panuleon shouted over the chaos.

The vampire could control it easier than the human.

"Listen to me Corey, Just reveal it and if you lose yourself, I will keep you safe until you wake up. I promise" The angel said as he held onto the side of his face and kissed his forehead.

The gold in his eyes started growing stronger.

"Corey!" Vinny yelled. "You're strong enough to stay in control!"

Vinny's eyes instantly changed to gold when Oliver was pushed to the ground.

The vampire raised both hands and sent that demon flying across the warehouse. He picked Oliver up and kept him close as he controlled who could get close.

Corey studied his angel's eyes as the silence around him grew.

He then let go and allowed the power to overtake him.

His blue eyes were lost to the powerful gold while his mind was stuck in a trance.

Panuleon kicked a demon in the stomach as Corey turned and made all of the hell-hounds who were tormenting Duka and Madison fall instantly to their deaths.

John was doing pretty well on his own but Vinny not only protected him and Oliver, he protected everyone else too.

He then pushed Oliver into John who stood with Duke and Madison.

They allowed Vinny and Corey to go in front and form a barrier.

No demons even got close to them as they did all they could to keep them back.

There wasn't a lot left but where did the demon leader go?

The room was slowly getting less intense as Vinny and Corey killed the demons with very little effort.

Panuleon watched is soulmate closely. He could feel that his mind was lost but maybe he could be stronger this time.

Maybe he could turn it off just like Vinny could.

Oliver wondered if he should reveal his power but he couldn't control the intensity.

Last time, he lost himself just like Corey did.

Maybe for humans, the power is just too much for their bodies to handle.

When it came down to only two demons, everyone relaxed and got their breaths back.

Vinny and Corey killed them in less than five seconds.

When the hell-hounds were dead, there must have been around fifty lying on the floor. That was a very impressive number for only seven people to kill.

But these were no ordinary people.

"Take deep breaths Madison, you did great" Duke soothed and rubbed her back.

She nodded and tried her best to calm her mind.

Vinny blinked and his eyes turned back to their normal brown colour but Corey collapsed to his knees, struggling to bring himself back to the surface.

Panuleon jogged over and knelt in front of him.

"Look at me, you're strong enough to do this. Keep fighting."

Corey was visibly shaking and his eyes were flowing in and out of blue and gold.

It felt like he was trying to lift something exceptionally heavy but his arms were giving up.

Vinny watched, hoping he was able to do it. Things would get very hard for the angel if his soulmate was to fall unconscious now.

"Keep thinking about new things. You need to stay awake."

Corey was trying so hard. He was fighting with everything he could but it wasn't enough.

he was just too weak.

So he collapsed into Panuleon's arms as his mind gave into the power.

"Corey" Panuleon said and shook him but he was not responding. He would now be like this for at least two days.

The angel knew this would happen but he had a tiny bit of hope that he could pull through, but he didn't.

"Panuleon, take Corey and find the kids. You'll both be safer if you're hiding" Vinny said.

"No, I need to help-"

"It's okay Panuleon, we can manage" Oliver knew things would get too dangerous for him.

"We'll all feel better if the kids have more protection" John added, making everyone nod.

Panuleon glanced down at his soulmate, lying in his arms. He didn't want to leave but he didn't want to risk Corey's safety.

"Okay, are you definitely sure?"

"Yes, go Panuleon and keep trying to contact Zachariah," Vinny said while the angel stood up and shined his magnificent wings.

"Stay safe and if you need mine or Jed's help, pray for us. we'll be listening."

Everyone gave him smiles before he looked up and vanished.

Madison was now calmer but this was just step one.

Now they had to find their way out of the warehouse.

* * * * *

As Jed and Luka flew, the snow got heavier and the winds got stronger.

Jed slowed down to fit in with the half angels pace. He was struggling a little bit but he was still determined to carry on.

They were almost at their destination anyway.

Luka wasn't concentrating on the world around him, he was making sure Jed was next to him every step of the way.

But that's probably why he didn't dodge the big black ball that collided with him.

When it smacked into him with phenomenal force, he was winded pretty badly while he spun in the air and started falling closer to the ground.

His wings couldn't function properly while whatever smashed into him did it again.

He cried out with worry and pain as he continued to fall, faster and faster.

The icy wind felt like it was slicing his skin as the ground was still getting closer.

He couldn't stop himself from falling.

Jed had seen what happened and followed him quickly, trying to reach out and stop him from hitting the ground but Luka was falling too fast.

His wings were being pushed against himself due to the force of the wind.

He couldn't breathe, he couldn't see and he couldn't do anything to stop the ground from swallowing him up.

And that's exactly what it did when he crashed into it.

The snow was deep and he bounced several times, hitting every body part off of everything around him.

It hurt, his bones broke and his wings bent at a funny angle.

Rayvon felt tingling all over his body and he knew something had gone seriously wrong. He could hear Luka's cries in his mind and it made him want to be sick.

It only took Jed a matter of seconds to land after Luka but he wasn't in a good way.

Rayvon and Jed fell over due to the desperation.

But they scrambled up and ran as fast as they could to Luka who was lying only a few meters away.

He was crying so loud and so hard. The pain didn't feel real because it hurt him so much. He still could barely breathe and he knew he had broken at least three limbs.

"Luka," Rayvon said and knelt in the snow. He pushed his face against the side of his, making his tears transfer onto his cheek. "Please breathe, please. It's going to be okay."

There was nothing worse than this.

His soulmate was in extreme pain and he couldn't heal him.

Jed checked over his injuries.

He had broke both his legs, his left arm, probably a few ribs and he had blood flowing from a cut on his head.

But just as he was about to suggest something, whatever had knocked the boy from the skies landed behind them.

Jed looked up to see Mila who had a wide smirk plastered on her face.

"Oh what a shame, I injured him."

Rayvon didn't hear her. He was trying to calm Luka down who was practically screaming and sobbing so hard.

"Please R-Ray, make it stop!" He cried and squeezed his soulmates arm really hard.

"I will. Just concentrate on my voice okay" Rayvon soothed but they both knew he couldn't mend him.

"You didn't think I'd let you get away that easily did you?" Mila questioned. "After all, these kids are the key to our success."
