Chapter 7
3000 years later.
The boys are now 6 years and two months old.
A few hundred years ago, Rayvon developed a stutter.
Truth be told, Vinny was upset about this. He didn't want his son to think that he was anything less than perfect which is what he thought about himself when he was little.
They got Rayvon a speech therapist who he has been seeing for a while. His stutter hasn't got worse but it hasn't got better.
Luka tries to help him say things and for a six-year-old, he has the patience of a saint.
He can now control his wings and put them away whenever he wants. They still appear uncontrollably when he experiences a big change of emotion, but that still happens for Panuleon.
His eyes are still very extraordinary but other kids proceed to call them weird and look at him differently.
Corey has heard Rayvon say that they are like magic and Luka smiled for the rest of the afternoon.
He has learned how to put his fangs away but has a lot of pleasure in scaring other kids with them. But Luka never gets scared.
It is currently three in the afternoon and the kids are getting tutored at a local school.
They go once every two weeks because their lives are very long and it makes more sense for them to learn things as their brains develop.
Vinny and Oliver were standing outside with Jed, waiting for them.
Corey and Panuleon take it in turns with them and today was the Vanderwood day to pick up the kids.
The other parents tried to stay calm when they saw the couple but it was still very exciting to have them here.
Vinny didn't care about private schools and such, this school was two minutes drive from the mansion and it offered just as good education.
Rayvon and Luka were sitting together at a table as they listened to the teacher.
The school was almost finished for the day and they were unbelievably bored.
During school, they stay with each other and play with each other at break times and lunch. The teachers never try and make them mingle with other kids, they're too scared of upsetting them and getting in trouble with the Vanderwood's.
Other kids are mostly too nervous to approach them anyway.
Suddenly, the bell rang, indicating the end of school.
Rayvon shoved everything into his bag, even Luka's stuff but he was just desperate to get home.
He looked like the best-dressed kid by far. He had black jeans, a red shirt and a grey waistcoat on.
Vinny and Oliver thought he looked adorable.
Luka had beige jeans on with a t-shirt and a jumper with three buttons at the top.
He took his bag but he lifted it upside down and everything fell out.
"Luka!" Rayvon chuckled as they got on their hands and knees to pick it up.
They both laughed and talked about what they wanted to do when they got home, which was spend all night in the swimming pool but their parents would never allow it.
"I bet I can hold my breath for longer than you" Luka grinned before standing up and zipping his bag shut and slinging it over his shoulders.
"N-no way," Rayvon said and gave him a friendly shove before they raced each other to the door.
Just as Luka opened it, a kid that was taller than them both pushed them back into the empty room.
"Hey!" Rayvon said angrily.
The boy turned and pushed Luka into the wall.
"Freak."
Rayvon pushed the boy away and tried to see if Luka was okay, but the boy retaliated and grabbed him.
"Stop it!" Luka said before sinking to the floor. His little lip began to tremble. He can't cope with violence.
"Get off!"
The boy smirked at Luka as he let go of Rayvon who was flashing his fangs.
"Nobody wants you here," He said proudly. This kid must be about nine years old. "Your eyes are weird and you're not normal."
Rayvon could see that Luka was getting upset.
Nobody was allowed to hurt his friend.
Vinny and Oliver watched as all the kids came out, but where are their children?
They're usually the first ones out.
"L-Leave us a-alone," Rayvon said, trying to stick up for him. "His e-eyes are no-not weird."
The boy laughed at his poor attempt to speak.
"I'm telling everyone that you talk like a freak!"
Rayvon really hated that word.
"S-Shut up or-or I'll b-bite you."
"No, you won't, you'll get into trouble," The boy said with a smug smile.
Luka hugged his knees, wanting to go home.
Rayvon, like any six-year-old, was getting his patience tested and now it was pushed passed his limit.
He stepped forwards and kicked the boy in between his legs.
"Maybe we should go in?" Oliver suggested. He was a little concerned now.
Luka's eyes became watery as he watched the boy fall to his knees in pain.
Rayvon was angry. He didn't understand why people thought this way. Their parents raised them to believe that they are normal, so why do people think that they're not?
As he pulled on his hair and went to bite his neck, the door opened.
When Oliver saw what was going on, he gasped.
Vinny looked over his shoulder and immediately pushed passed his soulmate.
He grabbed his son, turned and stormed out of the room.
Oliver didn't bother questioning where they were going, this wasn't the first time Rayvon has been caught hurting this person.
He then looked down to see Luka, trying so hard to keep in his tears.
Oliver's heart almost broke as he leant down and picked him up.
Luka wrapped his arms and legs around him and buried his face into his shoulder as he was carried out of the room.
Oliver was going to question the boy on the floor but it was clear that Luka didn't want to be here anymore.
Jed had watched as angry Rayvon squirmed in his dad's arms as Vinny forced him into the car.
He sat him down in his seat, put his seat belt on and said nothing.
Rayvon had a big frown and he was looking at his lap, being all stroppy.
Vinny watched him, knowing that kid must have been making fun of Rayvon for him to get like that.
Only seconds passed before Luka climbed into the car and sat next to his son.
Oliver put his seat belt on him and sat next to his soulmate.
They sat in silence as Jed started the car.
Vinny's hand crept over to Oliver's, he needed to feel his touch.
But just before the car could pull out, a man came running over and banged on the door.
He then yanked it open and immediately started yelling.
Luka backed into Rayvon with worry and fear.
"Your son was hurting my son. How dare you let him almost bite him! Get out here and sort this mess out!"
This guy had a real nerve doing this to the Vanderwood's. people had already stopped out of shock.
Oliver was about to get up but Vinny put a hand on his chest, stopping him.
"I've got this" He mumbled before getting up and casually climbing out of the car.
The man was now regretting his decision as Vinny stood tall, wise and powerful.
"It's okay Luka, there's nothing to worry about" Oliver smiled, seeing his worried eyes.
Vinny connected his fingers together and glared at the guy, making him take a little step back.
"This is not the first time your son has done this. You need to control him" The man said before crossing his arms. But he didn't look as intimidating as Vinny.
"What did your son say?" Vinny asked, his glare stronger than ever.
"He was getting something from the classroom and your son started hurting him."
Now Vinny knew this wasn't true.
"My child would never hurt anyone unless they've given him a reason to. Have you ever thought that your son is a bully?" Vinny asked through gritted teeth.
"He's no such thing. My son would never pick on anyone!"
Vinny shook his head at this, he has heard that kid be mean to plenty of other children, all younger than him.
"Well you're extremely delusional and I think you should ask your lying son for the truth."
Vinny then turned to get back into the car, but the man grabbed his arm.
Vinny immediately turned, eyes pulsing red.
The guy jumped back when he saw them.
"Don't ever touch me, again" He growled. "Now you go and learn how to control your kid, he's the problem here, not mine."
The vampire then turned back to the car, his eyes instantly changing to brown. He didn't want to scare Luka, he is very fragile.
He climbed in, shut the door and sat back down next to his soulmate.
Oliver intertwined their fingers and rubbed his thumb up and down his knuckle.
Jed set off knowing the quicker they get home, the better.

When they got back to the mansion, nobody had said anything.
Vinny and Oliver were going to wait until Luka was with his parents before they took Rayvon and talked to him about what happened.
They all climbed out of the car as Jed watched, wondering what was going to happen. He knew it wouldn't be Rayvon's fault, he gets angry when he's picked on.
As always, Panuleon and Corey were waiting by the door to greet his son when he came in.
Luka saw them and instantly ran towards his parents.
"Hello daddy" He smiled and jumped into Corey's arms who stumbled back into Panuleon's chest.
"Hey Luka, have you had a good day?"
"Yes" Luka smiled as his wings flapped, he was really happy to be home.
Panuleon watched as Rayvon slumped into the corridor, arms crossed.
Vinny put a hand on his shoulder and guided him past the couple and down the corridor.
Oliver whispered in Panuleon's ear what had happened before following them.
The boys knew they'd now have to ask Luka about it.

When Vinny reached the dining room, he was glad to see that it was empty.
He went with Rayvon to the couch and sat him down.
He and Oliver sat on the table, in front of him.
"Right, tell me the truth."
Rayvon sighed but sat up.
"T-That boy s-said that Luka's eyes w-were weird a-and h-he told-he told me t-that I sound l-like a-a f-freak."
Vinny understood his son's emotions and the need to lash out. He knew how unfair it was to be picked on for something he couldn't control.
He couldn't argue verbally so the next best thing was to argue physically.
"He said those things to you last time didn't he?" Oliver asked, wanting to hug his son.
Rayvon nodded.
Vinny and Oliver gave one another a glance, they knew what each other was thinking.
"How would you feel if we took you out of that school and a tutor came here instead?" Vinny asked. His tone was soft and he wasn't angry at his kid. He wanted to hug him too.
"I d-don't wa-want to g-go to the s-school any-anymore," Rayvon said and his little lip was trembling and his eyes became watery.
Oliver got up and sat close.
Rayvon buried his head into Oliver's chest as he let his sad tears slip from his eyes.
"It's okay, you don't have to go anymore" Oliver soothed while Vinny sat next to his son and rubbed his back. "Okay?"
Rayvon nodded against his chest.
"Look at me," Vinny said and gently lifted his head. "Don't get upset, you won't see that boy again." He wiped the tears from his cheeks.
"G-Good, he's mean" Rayvon frowned.
"He is mean," Oliver said and tickled his son, instantly making him squirm. "You were brave to stick up for yourself and Luka."
"Luka i-is my f-friend," Rayvon said and sat up. "C-Can I go p-play with him?"
Vinny smiled at how fast six-year-old's get over stuff.
"Of course, but on one condition," He said while his son climbed off the couch. "You have to give him a hug and make sure he's okay."
He knew Panuleon and Corey would've smothered him in comfort already but it was nice to see two young little boys being so kind to each other.
"Okay," Rayvon beamed before turning and bolting out of the dining room.
The boys didn't worry, they knew Jed would follow him.
"He's growing up so fast" Oliver smiled.
"I know," Vinny said and put his arm on the back of the couch. His hand brushed Oliver's shoulder and it reminded him of the day they first connected the bond when they sat down on the couch together.
It was a little awkward and Oliver was incredibly nervous for Vinny Vanderwood to be talking to him.
But Vinny felt so in love that day and he still felt incredibly blessed to have Oliver in his life.
8,000 years later and they're still just as loved up as that first day they met.
Every hug is so special, every touch is filled with affection and every kiss still feels like the first time.
It still feels so magical.
