Chapter 63

After spending most of the day with his dad, Rayvon was having a bit of time with just his soulmate.

Luka was playing with his lover's hands as he sat in between his crossed legs.

They were in their bedroom and just enjoying one another's company.

"It's okay to cry Rayvon," Luka said quietly. He could feel him holding in his tears.

Rayvon sniffed back his emotion as little Luka turned on his lap and glanced up at him.

"I don't know what you're talking about" He smiled and studied his gold eye.

Luka let out a gentle smile before getting on his knees and resting his body against him. He wrapped his arms around his big shoulders and played with the back of his black hair.

"It's okay" He whispered.

They watched each other and these two are the most connected people in the world. They're basically the same person. They know one another more than what anyone else ever will.

Rayvon felt his lip tremble slightly. Keeping in emotions like this is a really hard thing to do. But he can't pretend to be tough all the time.

"It's just, it's all getting on top of me now" His voice cracked, sending Luka's heart right out of his chest. "I want things to go back to normal."

"You have been through so much," Luka said and watched the first tear slip down his cheek. "Your dads are safe now and if you just give it a few days, it will return to normal."

"I hope so" Rayvon whispered and leant his head forwards so their foreheads could lean against one another.

Luka rubbed his back, wanting to give him all the comfort in the world.

"But it's alright to get upset. I know you're relieved that everything is good now, but you're still shocked and that's okay."

Rayvon loved listening to the sound of his voice as he wrapped his arms around his lower back and pulled his body closer.

"I think it's finally sinking in."

Luka then squeezed him really tight and planted a long kiss on his cheek.

The half vampire smiled and concentrated on his warm lips, touching his skin.

"I've known you all my life Rayvon. We've been through everything together and I don't want you to hide your tears from me."

Yes, Luka is shy and quiet but when it matters, he always says the right things.

"I won't," Rayvon said and breathed in his scent. "I love you."

"I love you too."

Those words are incredibly special. They mean so much but take very little effort to say.

Luka then sank down, wrapped his legs around Rayvon's waist and rested the side of his face into his chest.

They hugged each other but it was very easy for Rayvon to engulf Luka with his big body.

But the half angel loved his warmth and his protection.

"We'll just do normal things," Corey said as he squeezed Panuleon's hand.

The angel had still not recovered from earlier and it had shown him just how much everyone means to him.

"What would you like to do?" He asked and ran a hand through his soulmate's hair.

"We could go swimming? Or spend some more time with Oliver and Vinny?"

"I think it's best to leave them alone for a while, Vinny is still regaining his strengths and he'd probably want to give all of his attention to Oliver."

"You're right" Corey smiled. "So swimming?"

"Sure."

John was sitting on a bench, just outside the dining-room. Madison and Duke were watching him through the window and wondering if he was okay.

He was just having a moment to reflect on his life.

He couldn't be luckier to have a family like this. He was raised as a human and grew up as a human. If he told his parents he would be turned into a vampire and got the opportunity to live for thousands of years, they probably would've laughed in his face.

He kicked the snow about with his feet and let his mind drift to Oliver. As a parent, he couldn't be any prouder.

His son had an amazing husband. Even after what he put Oliver through, he knew that wasn't really Vinny and the
choices he made were to benefit other people.

He has a wonderful son. Rayvon is pretty much half and half of his dads. He has the humour and the kind qualities of Oliver but he can sometimes get angry about little things and John would say that his glare was so much scarier than Vinny's.

But here they are, living a life of luxury.

Yes, they have their ups and downs but the recent events have made him realise that he's at a point in his life where he's happy.

Just then, there was a sudden bright light and Jed landed about a meter away from him.

His landing was smooth as his wings folded against him.

John glanced up and felt a warm feeling right in his chest.

Jed had heard about what has been going on.

When their eyes met, the angel immediately walked over and sat as close as he could.

Without saying a word, he wrapped his arms around him and hugged him tight.

He had been listening to the angel's whispers and he knew Vinny had entered heaven. It was a shock to him that the vampire managed to bargain a second chance but for what price? Maybe the elder angel sent him back with a secret that Vinny himself didn't even know.

Jed knew the elders are not that nice for no reason.

"How're you doing John?"

"I'm okay" He muffled into his shoulder. "Have you found the demon lady yet?"

"No. We haven't picked up a single trail. But if she's out there, we will find her."

"I've missed you."

Jed pulled back to give him a happy smile.

"I've missed you too."

He then caught sight of Duke and Madison from the window and gave them a quick wave.

Seeing Jed and John together was still incredibly heartwarming. They waved back and continued to hold each other tight.

Jed could see that they have gone through a lot. He was actually quite glad he wasn't here to witness any of the distress but John almost lost his son and he wished he had been there to comfort him.

"How's Oliver?" He asked.

"He's alright now. He finally got Vinny back after all that time and then lost him again. Everyone's been through a lot but it's over now."

Jed could see he was shaken up about it.

"Has he told you how he brought himself back to life?"

John shook his head. Vinny had lost his voice when he woke up and everyone gave him time with Oliver and Rayvon.

"An elder angel gave him a second chance."

John studied his face, knowing that might not be a good thing.

"Did the angel ask for anything in return?"

Jed shook his head to say no.

They thought about this for a moment but decided that at this time, it wasn't important.

"How's Rayvon?"

"He puts on a brave face but I know he's struggling a little bit."

John saw that side of his grandson when he basically looked after him for two years when Oliver wasn't coping well.

He can be very emotional but chooses when to show it.

Jed nodded and sat back against the bench.

"I guess it's time to take a deep breath and just relax. You've all been through so much for too long. It'll be around four more years until the war shows signs of starting again so now is your time to enjoy your peace."

John put an arm around Jed's shoulders and gently kissed his temple.

"How long do you think it'll take for you to find the demon? Because I want to spend all my peace with you."

Jed may have blushed a little bit but he managed to hide it well.

"I'm not sure. probably a few more days" He smiled.

"I can just about wait that long."

* * * * *

Oliver was sitting next to the bed. Vinny had fallen asleep due to the lack of energy that was circling his body.

He doesn't get to watch his Vampire's sleeping face very often but he looked so relaxed.

There was no frown or angry glare. There was no bored or unimpressed expression.

His relaxed face looks naturally happy. Oliver thinks it's because he has such a happy smile that when he isn't frowning, he has no choice but to look like he's sort of smiling.

He softly ran a hand through his hair and let out a calming breath.

Everything would soon be back to normal and he couldn't wait. Just to go to bed without a care in the world is one of the best feelings.

Today, he almost died of a broken heart.

He hopes he'll never have to say that ever again. But it wasn't Vinny's fault, not really.

Although, who knows what he would be like if he still had that demon blood inside of him. Nobody said it but they'd rather not witness it.

Orin then jumped up on the bed and gave Oliver a sweet little meow.

He turned and watched as she walked right over and rubbed herself against his shoulder.

"Hello," He whispered and stroked her soft fur.

Orin then sat in front of him and watched him with big eyes.

Oliver stared back. He finds it very strange that Vinny found a kitten at the top of a mountain. Was it a coincidence that they were both up there at the same time or was it something more?

"You're a very mysterious cat" He whispered and tickled her ears. He liked her because she gave comfort to Vinny when he wasn't around.

Orin then lifted a paw and started licking it but as she did so, Vinny's index finger twitched at exactly the same time.

Oliver wondered if his whispering woke him but he was still fast asleep.

As he continued to watch his soulmate, he noticed that every time the cat moved her paw, Vinny would move his finger.

"That's weird" He mumbled and frowned at Orin.

The cat wasn't touching him in any way but as soon as she stopped, Vinny stopped moving his finger.

Oliver glanced between him and the cat as his frown turned curious.

"Maybe if I just-" He then picked up Orin but as he did so, Vinny stirred and slowly rolled over onto his side.

Oliver quickly put the cat down but she didn't seem phased by this and went back to licking her other paw.

And just like last time, Vinny's finger started twitching.

Oliver rested his chin on his palms and stared at the cat with wonder.

"I knew there was something weird about you."
