Chapter 57

"I need it right now," Vinny said and covered his mouth.

Rayvon widened his eyes too and looked around at Duke who hadn't heard him.

"Grandad, he's craving blood," He said but glanced at Oliver who Vinny was staring at.

Everyone in the room stopped and watched the vampire. He was trying to back away from Oliver but his senses were telling him to get closer.

"Take him away from me" Vinny muffled through his hand.

But Oliver was not prepared to let go, he wasn't ready.

"No, Vinny please," He said as John tried lifting him up but he only gripped his soulmate tighter. "I don't want to."

"Oliver, you have to," John said while watching Vinny very carefully but he kept glancing and Luka too which was worrying Rayvon. Although he was stronger and bigger than his dad, he could hold him down.

Panuleon had pulled Corey behind him, just on the off chance that the vampire would freak out and try to get someone other than Oliver.

Vinny pulled his other hand away from his soulmate and covered his mouth with that one too.

The feelings were hitting him extremely hard. He has gone two years without blood and he has never craved it as much as this.

"Oliver, get away from me" He muffled and tried shuffling back.

Oliver knew Vinny now needed time by himself to drink some blood but he couldn't leave him. He was so frightened that he'd lose him.

John tried pulling him away again as Vinny's eyes turned red.

"Luka, Oliver, and Corey do this very calmly, but leave the room right now" Duke ordered.

Vinny was beginning to lose himself.

Panuleon took Corey's hand and walked over to Luka. He guided them both around the vampire.

Vinny's eyes watched them as Madison followed to get him some blood that they keep in the cellar.

"Oliver come on, you're putting yourself in danger here," John said as Jed couldn't help him, he was still holding onto the demon.

"Vinny," Oliver said and tried hugging him but the vampire simply stared at his neck.

John knew his son wasn't prepared to let his soulmate out of his sight, not when they've spent two years apart.

"It's okay, I'll just take you over there," John said as Rayvon held onto Vinny who tried getting a little closer to Oliver.

The demon was watching everything with a sly smirk. Yes, he felt like the angel was breaking his arms but he was amused that Vinny was putting his own family in danger.

Vinny was craving blood so bad and he now didn't care who it was from, he would drink from anyone that wasn't a vampire.

"I need blood," He said again and slowly took his hands down from his mouth, revealing his fangs. "I need your blood."

Oliver watched him, he was in his unpredictable stage.

Suddenly, Vinny darted forwards and tried to grab Oliver but John pulled him back and Rayvon grabbed his dad.

Vinny knew how wrong it was to want his soulmates blood but when he needs it this bad, he can barely stop himself.

"Come on Oliver," Duke said and helped him up to his feet.

"Please don't make me leave the room," Oliver said and clutched onto his top.

"We won't," Duke said in a calm and gentle tone. "Just get to the other side of the room."

Vinny's parents wanted to hug their son and celebrate that he made it home safe but they needed to treat this very seriously.

"Your family is screwed up," The demon said, making most people remember he was there.

Jed dug his knee further into the demons forearms that were still curled up behind his back.

"Speak again and I will kill you" He warned.

Duke shot daggers at the demon but when he looked back to Vinny, his eyes were glued to the hell-hound.

Orin who everyone had forgotten about was cowering under the table, out of sight.

Vinny didn't know what he was doing but he knew that he wanted blood and he knew he would do anything to get it.

Without any warning, he pushed Rayvon with all the force he could manage. His mind didn't register that this was his son.

Rayvon landed on his back but he wasn't hurt as Vinny scrambled to his feet and sprinted forwards.

Jed turned just as Vinny pushed him with a lot of force too, sending him flying back a few steps before he also landed on his back.

Vinny's mind was a raging blood fest as he turned the demon over with aggression and gripped his wrist.

"Get him off me!" The demon yelled just as Duke ran towards them.

Vinny was desperate and he needed the blood, anyone's blood.

As Duke grabbed his son's shoulder, Vinny dug his fangs deep into the demon's wrist. He yelled in pain and tried pulling away but he was too strong.

Duke also tried pulling Vinny away but now that he was drinking the blood, he couldn't be stopped. It would be too dangerous for him to be pulled away from blood when he needed it so badly.

John helped Jed up from the floor.

"Are you okay?" He asked.

"Yes," Jed nodded and stood extra close to his soulmate.

Oliver watched Rayvon who was staring at his dad. He was thankful that he hadn't hurt any family members, but was it bad that Vinny was drinking from a demon?

Just then, Aliyah and the two other angels landed in the dining room. They had gone to get some healing lotions to rub into Oliver's temples to make him sleep better.

But they didn't expect to see this.

Aliyah raised her eyebrows when she saw Vinny but her senses flared when she sensed the demon.

"What's going on?" She asked with a frown when the vampire didn't stop sucking on the demon's wrist.

Vinny was rocking back and forth with a disappointed frown. He hated drinking from an actual person and he felt disgusted that he was drinking from a demon.

Duke gently rubbed his back but he was really concerned. Was it dangerous to drink demon blood?

"He needed the blood," Oliver said quietly. He just wanted to spend all his time with his soulmate and he was finding it so hard to stand back and watch.

"When did he get back and how?"

"We don't know the details, he only came back about fifteen minutes ago. But we can ask him all about it when he's done" Duke said. It was difficult for him not to just hug his son but he could do it properly when he was finished.

"There might be more demons coming, we'll go and scale the mountains."

Nobody had time to say anything before all three angels disappeared, just as Madison came in.

"I've got the blood-"

She stopped when she saw what was going on.

"What? Duke! You can't let him drink demon's blood!" She said quickly.

"There's nothing I can do, he started drinking it before I could stop him."

"But what if it's dangerous for him!"

Vinny's ears felt muffled. He was so engrossed with what he was doing that he couldn't concentrate on doing anything other than drinking as much blood as he needed.

"Get your faggot freak of a son off of me!" The demon yelled.

Duke stopped what he was doing and glared at him. Nobody talks about his son like that.

"Just you wait until he's finished. You're not getting out of here alive."

When Duke speaks so calm but his eyes are so angry, it was actually rather terrifying.

The demon clenched his jaw but shut his mouth.

Duke was clearly fuming with rage. On the inside, he wanted to kill this demon and he would but Vinny seemed to be drinking a lot of his blood.

He only needed two pints of it but maybe, he was drinking more.

"Vinny, You need to stop now," Duke said and tried pulling on his shoulders but Vinny gripped the demons wrist harder and closed his eyes.

Maybe because he has missed two annual blood days, he needed more than just two pints of it. Although, it was demon blood and nobody knew if it would be a danger to him or not.

Rayvon couldn't do anything to help so he went outside to be with Luka who was asking what was happening.

But it seemed to register in Vinny's mind what he was doing and he instantly didn't want the blood anymore.

He lifted his head and stared at the bite mark on the demon's wrist.

Everyone watched as he glanced up to the demons face with an angry frown.

"You deserve everything that's coming to you" He grumbled before lifting a fist and punching him right in the face.

He was strong now that he had fueled up with re-connecting with Oliver and drinking what every vampire needed.

The demon fell back against the floor, Vinny had knocked him unconscious and he had also drunk a lot of his blood so he would've been light headed anyway.

Vinny let out a sigh and rubbed his tired eyes, he didn't want to think about who he just drank from.

When he felt a hand on his shoulder, he turned to see his dad. He looked very desperate to get his attention.

"How do you feel?"

Vinny showed his first little smile in two years before quickly flinging his arms around him.

Duke was surprised but hugged him back, not wanting to miss a single moment.

Vinny really did miss his parents.

"I feel fine," He said while his dad motioned for Madison to come over but she was already one step ahead. "I'm so sorry."

She knelt down next to them and Vinny wrapped an arm around her too, letting her join the hug.

"You have nothing to be sorry for son" She whispered and ran a hand through his hair. "We all missed you so much."

Vinny closed his eyes and took in their comforting smell.

"I missed you all too."

He was feeling vulnerable. He didn't care if it showed, he needed to express how much his family meant to him.

He was back in his favourite room with his favourite people and he had no reason to be sad anymore.

He heard his mum sniffing and he pulled his head back from resting on their shoulders.

"Don't cry mum" He soothed and wiped her cheeks. "I'm home now."

"I'm just so happy" She breathed and tried to blink back the rest of her tears. "It wasn't the same without you. Who knew someone so grumpy would have such a dramatic affect on us all."

Everyone shared a chuckle as the people who left the dining room had re-entered.

"I've been told I'm quite irresistible" Vinny smiled and looked up to Oliver who was eagerly waiting to hug him again.

He saw that as an opportunity and quickly walked over.

Vinny sat back so Oliver could sit on him and wrap his arms around him once more.

He studied his face. He was clearly exhausted but this was the same old Oliver, just thinner.

"I love you," He said and kissed his cheek.

"I love you too" He smiled, which flooded everyone with warmth.

That was his first smile in two years.

For someone who's ridiculously happy to be so depressed is so awful to witness.

But now he'll start heading down his road to recovery.

"Before anyone else tries to hug me, you need to have some food."

Oliver watched those creamy brown eyes. He knows he has lost a noticeable amount of weight and he knew Vinny would be extremely concerned.

"I've already had some," He said and gave another little smile.

Vinny traced his hands up Oliver's jumper, feeling his ribs poking out more than they should and feeling his spine as it was now more defined.

"I want you to have some more. I know you've struggled, it's very clear. But you need to be healthy and I'm going to help you."

Oliver rested his forehead against his soulmates forehead. Their hearts were thumping at the close contact. It felt so incredible to finally be this close without a care in the world.

"Okay. It has been hard and eating was clearly not my main priority but I know now that you're back, things will return to normal."

Vinny was losing his mind at the sound of his wonderful voice.

He was just about to reply when he caught sight of his cat, staring at him from underneath the table.

He totally forgot about her but she should be introduced before anyone else sees her and freaks out.

"Orin," He said, making Oliver frown and follow his gaze.

He just about saw her in the shadows before she quickly trotted over and rubbed herself off of her owner.

Everyone watched and raised their eyebrows, they didn't even notice her.

"We saw you carrying it when you came in. Why on earth have you got a cat with you?" Duke questioned while Vinny stroked her soft ear with his finger.

He didn't have a slow approach of how to tell them. He also didn't know how they would react.

But the one thing he did know was that he's never getting rid of her, no matter what the outcome may be.

"She's my pet."
