Chapter 52

Vinny had no idea how to find his power.

It was hard when Oliver was the only person who was filling his mind. He couldn't get him out of his head but that was far from a bad thing.

He was thankful to know he now understood that it might take Vinny years to return home.

He was worried that Oliver might think they would never be reunited and he didn't want that.

The vampire closed his eyes to avoid looking at the two deceased humans, still sitting opposite him.

He had to chill out.

If he was to find the power, he needed to feel it.

Oliver and Luka found it when they were in times of great stress but Vinny knew that he'd be able to seek it out.

Maybe he was overconfident but whatever he wants, he gets.

He could feel his broken wrist as it began to throb but he blocked it out. He knew the power would be strong and he had to calm right down.

He concentrated on his breathing and let it fall even.

He made himself forget where he was. He forgot everything around him and focused on this one task.

The vampire had to spark something. Maybe an emotion that he buried away or maybe those memories that fill him with rage.

If he was going to reveal something so powerful, it needed a kick start.

So he opened it.

He opened the box in his mind that held the memories he swore he would never think about again.

It began with a memory of when he was a child and kids would be so cruel. He thought about that one child who he almost beat to death and how disappointed his parents looked.

He remembered making a vow to himself that day. It was a vow to never see that look on his parents face ever again and he hasn't.

He didn't like to upset them and he didn't like it when they were disappointed in him.

He then thought about when the bad feelings came to him at the age of around fifteen. He felt so low, depressed and really sorry for himself.

He couldn't speak right, he had no friends and locked himself away most of the time. He liked his own company but he wanted people to talk to and wanted to know what it felt like to laugh at a friends joke or spend time with someone who wanted to spend time with him.

But he didn't have that.

It made him sadder than what anyone will ever know.

The vampire continued to dig deep and really work up his emotions.

Just then, he heard the door open but he was now so determined, he didn't care and continued to build up the power.

The demon who entered with a jug of water stared at the Vampire.

He knew he was awake and was wondering what he was doing.

He put the jug down but not too close.

He glanced at Caroline and Matt who were clearly dead. He didn't even care before looking back to Vinny who was beginning to frown.

He could just about feel it, building up inside. It was steady but the more he thought about these angry and sad emotions, the quicker it was coming.

This is what he wanted. He had to fuel it.

It felt like it was making its way up his veins and beginning to circulate in his chest.

He was thinking about Scarlet and the many times she has upset him and made him angry.

His breathing was becoming heavier as the demon watched his frown deepen.

It was getting stronger and he wanted it to show.

And it would, any second now.

"What are you doing?" The demon demanded.

This almost broke Vinny's concentration but it was too late, the power had arrived.

He didn't open his eyes, he was taunting it and whispering for it to come closer.

The demon was getting a little worried now and braved to get closer.

"Answer me, what are you doing?"

He poked Vinny's shoulder, snapping the vampires eyes open.

The demon jumped back, not expecting that.

His eyes were a glimmering gold.

Vinny could feel it and he knew it would take over his senses.

"Why are your eyes like that?" He asked, widening his own.

Vinny glared at him but it was hard for him to look really angry with magical gold eyes.

"I'm going to kill you" He muttered.

The demon assessed his current situation and laughed out loud.

"How? You're tied up."

Vinny didn't know how he did this, but he pulled the rope apart like it was paper.

It didn't even take him that much effort as he let his hands hang by his side.

His cast was still on around his wrist and it was still hurting.

"How did you-"

"Shut up" Vinny grumbled before slowly standing up. He was beginning to fall into a trance. "Take me to the exit."

"No" The demon snorted but he didn't know what he was dealing with.

Vinny no longer had control over himself.

He didn't even have to move before producing a little ripple of gold through the air.

It effortlessly pushed through the demons body, killing him instantly.

Vinny had no idea how he was doing this but he couldn't stop.

His eyes watched the demon collapse to the ground before his body started moving forward.

He couldn't feel Oliver anymore and he couldn't control what he was thinking about. It was panicking him that his soulmate wasn't lingering around but he knew he would come back once the power subsided.

He wasn't in pain and had his full strengths, possibly more.

* * * * *

Everyone watched Oliver on the couch. He was sitting normally and wasn't struggling to cope or crying in pain, he looked like he was stuck in a trance.

Every few seconds, a shimmer of gold would wash through his eyes before quickly return back to green.

He was mumbling something but it was too quiet for anyone to understand.

"Is he okay?" John asked.

Panuleon narrowed his eyes. He was wiser than what everyone was lead to believe.

Even though Jed and Zachariah are angels of higher power, Panuleon had the ability to really understand and he had a deeper connection to everything around him.

"He's still connected to Vinny in his mind."

Corey shared some of Panuleon's wisdom as he nodded.

"He didn't let go."

"Is that why his eyes are doing that? Is he still talking to Vinny?" Madison asked with a hopeful expression.

"No, I think Vinny has found his power and Oliver is helping him by sharing his too."

"But the power is dangerous isn't it?" Rayvon asked.

Everyone felt sorry for him. His parents were not going to be the same people for a while and it must be hard for him to deal with that concept.

Duke put his hands on Rayvon's shoulders as he stood behind the couch.

"Don't worry, maybe he found his power so he could escape the demons. Your dad is very clever, I'm sure he knows what he's doing."

Oliver then closed his eyes and linked his fingers together like he was concentrating harder.

"Take it all" He whispered.

Panuleon wasn't sure that Oliver knew what he was doing but he was sure that he was feeding Vinny his power too.

* * * * *

Vinny felt invincible.

He was wiping demons out just by a glance and a wave of his hand.

He was controlling everything around him.

The atmosphere, the air, the temperature and who keeps their lives.

He was walking down the corridor and not flinching at the knives, guns or demons. Nothing was touching him as he killed anything that he saw as a threat.

He knew this power would eventually be too much for his body to handle but he had to get out of here and that was his main goal.

There was a red flashing light going off at the top of the door to which he was approaching. There was probably an alarm too but Vinny couldn't hear it.

He couldn't hear anything.

Demons were still trying to attack but it was almost like he had a gold bubble around him, protecting him.

He opened the door with the power of his mind and stepped through.

He somehow knew he was going in the right direction. It felt like he was being guided by someone.

Someone he trusted, someone who he would do anything for.

"Take it all" He heard a voice echo in the back of his mind.

That voice. It was so familiar and filled his body with warmth and happiness. But still, he couldn't control anything.

It then clicked that it was Oliver's voice.

He then knew it was him.

Oliver was helping him and guiding him to safety.

Vinny walked and killed every demon in sight. He was unstoppable.

They were beginning to fear him. Nobody was even scratching his surface and they knew that nobody could touch him.

"Back off!" The demon leader shouted. He now realised that he made a terrible mistake by capturing him.

Vinny's eyes fell on him and he immediately walked over.

The demon leader gasped in fear and backed into the corner.

Vinny didn't stop until he was right in front of him. He didn't blink or even show the slightest bit of emotion.

"I won't kill you because you're going to open the tear for me and it starts today. Once every six months, you will go to the mountain ledge and make it a little bigger. If you don't, I will kill you and it'll be long and painful. Go now, when I get there, I better see your progress."

Vinny didn't say any of that, it was the power. Although, he was thankful.

The demon stared into his swirling gold eyes and he knew not to disobey.

He nodded quickly but was too scared to say anything.

Vinny took a step back and watched him disappear.

He knew he had gone to start the process of opening it.

He took a breath and started walking again as Oliver somehow guided him to safety.

They didn't know that their minds were still deeply connected.

Thanks to Panuleon, their unconscious minds were keeping each other safe.

Now that they were connected in this way, the years ahead wouldn't be too painful. They would be able to feel each other's emotions and each other's warmth.

Every so often, Panuleon would connect their conscious minds and let them speak but it couldn't last long because it uses the angel's energy.

Yes, they are a million miles apart, but they'll feel close. The noise, the sight and the scent of one another won't exist, but they can still feel each other and that's all they'll need.

For the slow years ahead.
