Chapter 45
"Is this high enough?" Rayvon shouted.
He was pushing Luka on the tree swing. It has been a long time since they were on it, but the last one broke so Vinny climbed the tree and put it back up for them last summer.
"No keep going!" Luka shouted back.
He was going exceptionally high. It was almost a full 180-degree swing.
Rayvon watched him come back down before giving it one more final push.
They had a challenge for Luka to fly off but land in Rayvon's arms.
When the swing hurtled through the air, raising higher and higher, the half angel's grip on the rope was strong, but he knew what to do.
When he was beginning to face the cloudy sky, he let go.
The force of Rayvon's pushes sent him hurdling through the air, still raising higher.
Rayvon watched, his eyebrows raised but his mind was extremely cautious. This was dangerous but his soulmate had wings.
The height Luka got to before he flashed his wings was almost the same height of the three-story mansion.
Rayvon saw the flash of black before he disappeared.
It only took one second for the half-vampire to hold out his arms before Luka landed in them.
One of his wings was forced to fold against his soulmates body but he made it safely and successfully.
"You did it!" Rayvon beamed.
The half angels precision was getting much better.
Luka grinned and jumped down.
He stretched his wings and gave them a little flap which Rayvon adored before he put them away.
He sniffed back the cold and pulled his bobble hat further over his ears, starting to feel the winter air.
"Come on, I think it's almost dinner time anyway" Rayvon smiled and crouched.
Luka climbed on his shoulders and gripped his soulmate's head before he stood back up.
Rayvon held onto his knees and walked back towards the mansion.
"Do you feel super tall?" He chuckled.
"Yeah," Luka grinned but his soulmate was already so tall. To sit on his shoulders as well made him feel quite high.

Oliver was laying on top of the radiator when the boys came in.
"Is the heating back on?" Luka asked.
"Yes," Panuleon smiled as Corey started taking off his many layers.
Rayvon felt so glad. He hates it when his soulmate is cold. He can barely stand it.
"You can finally take off your eight layers" He grinned.
"I don't have eight layers on" Luka chuckled.
Rayvon helped him take off his winter gear as he flashed his wings.
"Give me your things," Luka said while his soulmate took off his coat and his gloves and gave them to him.
"I'll be really quick," He stated as Rayvon leaned down to kiss his forehead.
"Alright," He smiled softly before proudly watching him stretch his wings and disappear.
That awful lonely feeling spiked through their chests but Luka definitely wouldn't be long.
Rayvon chewed the inside of his lip and walked over to the couch. His heart ached if he didn't think about him while he was gone.

Luka landed just outside the cloakroom and narrowly missed the doorman.
"Ah, I'll take that from you," He said.
Luka smiled at him and handed the winter gear over.
He glanced up at the huge portrait of Charles, just next to the grand front door.
Luka asked his parents who that was and they said he was a doorman and a dear friend to the Vanderwood's in the time that Vinny met Oliver.
He often thought that he would've liked to meet that man, Vinny spoke highly of him because he was very nice to Oliver when he used to work in the mansion as a waiter.
He then turned, getting ready to fly back to the dining room but a member of staff made him take a double glance.
He could've sworn that he saw something very strange.
He thought he saw him with black eyes.
His heartbeat became faster as he stared at him, but the man stared back with confusion. Although, there was something about him that Luka didn't feel was right.
Maybe it was his presence or his aura but he felt a little uneasy.
Why would he think he saw such a thing? It was madness.
But then again, he remembered his dad's telling him about demons and them having black eyes. Maybe his mind was playing tricks on him, he had been worrying about it lately.
"Luka, get it out of your mind. Don't think about that kind of stuff" He heard Rayvon's voice, echo in the back of his mind.
Hearing him was a kick start for his actions as he flashed his wings.
That guy was slyly watching him but most people do when his wings show.
Black wings with gold swirls all over them were rather spectacular.

Rayvon was staring into space and completely concentrating on his soulmate before he landed in the dining room.
He looked behind the couch and gave him a warm smile.
Luka quickly walked over and sat on his soulmate's knee.
Rayvon watched his face the whole time, scoping out his every emotion and of course, he could always see every single one.
"Give me a cuddle," He thought, making him smile.
Luka turned on his lap and wrapped his arms around his big body.
He rested his face on his muscular chest as Rayvon's strong arms held his small frame close to him.
Oliver who was still lying on the radiator was smiling at them both. He couldn't believe how Rayvon grew but he was very glad.
Not only will he look very powerful and strong for the war, he will intimidate probably every filthy demon and be able to protect little Luka.
Although, over the years, Luka had the correct training from his dad and Vinny. He is a dark horse when it comes to fighting.
He can protect himself very well and knows how to really hurt someone if he needs to show some self-defence.
That side of him only shows when they train and occasionally if Rayvon's being cheeky.
"Dad," Rayvon said as he continued to hug his soulmate. "Has the bed arrived yet?"
"Um..." Vinny hummed with thought, but he wasn't sure. "Let me check."
He got up and patted Rayvon's shoulder on the way past.
He hoped the bed had come for them, he felt bad that they were still sharing the single one.
"Can you see it?" Panuleon asked.
He was sitting with Corey in front of the fireplace. The angel had his wings out and his soulmate was searching the back of one.
Panuleon could feel that there was a feather out of place and it was really annoying him.
"Is it in this area?" Corey asked. "Wait, I've got it."
There was a perfect white feather just a little out of place.
Corey delicately pulled it out and replaced it.
"How does that feel?"
"Perfect" Panuleon smiled before turning around and kissing his cheek. "Thank you."
"You're very welcome" Corey beamed before stealing a quick kiss on his lips too.
Rayvon looked up as waiters came in with trays of food for their dinner.
Everyone slowly got up and made their way to the table.
They could feel the room beginning to warm up while Oliver hesitantly slipped off the radiator and sat next to Duke at the table.
Vinny came in, just as the waiters were leaving.
They edged around him because he was glaring at them.
Just before he carried on, he grabbed John's arm who was stood next to Jed outside.
"Food" He grumbled and pulled him away.
Jed chuckled and let him be dragged back into the room.
Oliver watched as his soulmate walked over and sat next to him.
"Kids," He said. "The bed hasn't arrived due to the snow. It should be here tomorrow."
They could see the disappointment in Luka's face but he didn't mind, not really. It was just one more night.
"It's alright," Oliver said. "If you really want, you can sleep in our room tonight, our bed's big enough for about ten people."
Rayvon smiled but that wasn't a bad idea. He wanted his lover to have a good nights sleep.
He looked at Luka for confirmation. He lightly shrugged which mainly meant that he didn't mind.
"If that's okay, it'll only be for one night."
"It's fine son," Vinny said before pouring about seven Olive's onto Oliver's plate.
"That is not okay," Oliver said and as they began winding each other up, Luka and Rayvon settled into a comfortable conversation.
Jed stood outside the door, smiling to himself.
He was watching the life of the Vanderwood mansion slowly die down around him. As the evening rolled on, more workers were beginning to go home for the night.
"Vinny, why do you glare at your food, you're only eating. You don't need to look like that" Duke chuckled.
Vinny didn't bother changing his expression while his dark eyes looked at his dad.
Sometimes, his frown comes and it just stays for a while, he can't help it.
"Yes, but have you ever seen someone go from looking so angry to looking so happy? Vinny smile" Oliver said.
His Vampire sighed and rolled his eyes.
"Do it properly" Oliver said as everyone watched his face.
Vinny took a moment but he grinned, making everyone automatically smile at his big smile.
Oliver was right.
Vinny's smile does completely light up his face. Not only is it contagious, it makes his eyes look extremely happy.
For someone who looked so grumpy to have a rare smile that made him look even happier than Oliver, was unusual.
It was just another thing for Oliver to love about him.
But he has always loved his smile, right from the very beginning.
