Chapter 43
2000 years later.
Rayvon and Luka are now eighteen years old.
This means they have been together for two thousand years and their relationship has only gotten stronger.
They're so in love.
It's so pure, so raw and so fresh.
It's clear that their bond is different, full of promise, inspiration, and magical affection.
Over the years, Rayvon had a huge growth spurt.
He is now taller than Vinny and hits his head off of nearly every door frame.
He's much more muscular than his parents and turned out to be just a very big built person.
Luka didn't grow an inch.
His head used to be at Rayvon's shoulders, now it barely comes up to his chest.
But it's clear that the half vampire fell in love with his cute little body and he honestly wouldn't have him any other way.
Luka's shy and quiet personality didn't get any better, especially when they were told about the demon war.
Their parents decided to tell them when they were seventeen.
They didn't want to tell them any later because they had to be prepared for when it comes.
At first, they didn't take it well. They freaked out about it but rightfully so. It's a lot of news for two teenagers to take in.
The worlds will one day depend on them and it felt like too much responsibility.
Luka kept having dreams about it and he had a panic attack for around three full days after they were told.
The poor boy, he's so fragile and so innocent.
The thought of any war coming after him was dreadful, frightening and too much.
Over the years, when they trained and became mentally stable for it, they started to feel better about the situation.
Whenever Luka got stressed about it, Rayvon would tell him how proud he should be that fate chose them to save the world and everyone in it.
He reminded him how special they really are, which is a great way to look at their lives.
It's now half five on a freezing winter morning.
The heating in the Vanderwood mansion hasn't been working since yesterday afternoon.
People are currently trying to make their way to them, but the snow is very deep and the job required to get the heating on is big.
So for now, the humans have to wrap up very warm.
Rayvon frowned as his sleepy mind drifted awake. He brought a hand up to rub his eyes but his other hand was holding something warm.
He flickered his eyes open and realised he was lying on his stomach and his arm was hanging off the side of the bed.
He peered over the side to see Luka, curled up on the floor. He was practically hugging his hand as he slept.
Rayvon silently chuckled to himself as a yawn escaped his lips.
This is happening more and more often.
Vinny made them keep their deal about having to stay in the single bed.
But as the years went on and Rayvon got much bigger, there is absolutely no room for Luka.
Rayvon's shoulders take up the whole width of the bed so Luka slept on top of him pretty much every night.
He slowly got up and yawned again. He could almost feel the cold while gazing at his soulmate.
Luka was wearing one of his own hoodies and a jumper of Rayvon's over the top. It was way too big for him but it burst Rayvon's heart because he looked so cute in it.
A few more moments went by but the half Vampire couldn't leave his sleeping soulmate lying on the hard wooden floor.
He leaned down and scooped him up in his arms.
Luka squirmed a little bit but he knew it was his soulmate, even in his dreams.
Rayvon smiled before gently putting him on the bed and wrapping the duvet around him.
He sat down next to it and grabbed a book, getting ready to wait until he woke up.

"No," Vinny said and took the slice of chocolate cake out of Oliver's hand. "You don't need that much sugar."
"Vinny, in two vampire years I'll be forty, not four" Oliver chuckled.
"Yes, but the last thing you need is a sugar rush when you already have the hyper mind of a four-year-old."
Oliver rolled his eyes but it was true, he was too hyper for his own good sometimes.
"Alright, but I'm having it later."
Well, it is only nine in the morning.
Just then, the door to the dining room opened, making everyone look up.
Little Luka walked in with around three hoodies and a hat on.
He was quickly followed by Rayvon who forgot to duck and smacked his head on the top of the door frame.
"Ow," He grumbled and ducked under it the second time.
Panuleon watched in concern while he rubbed his forehead and followed Luka over to the table.
"How many times have you hit your head this week?" The Angel asked.
"Definitely over ten" Rayvon chuckled.
"We should think about getting the doors raised. This house was designed to accommodate mine and Vinny's height. We didn't think you'd get taller."
"No don't, it's quite amusing," Vinny said, making his son give him a blank look.
"You don't need to change anything, I just need to learn how to permanently tilt my head when I'm indoors," Rayvon said, making everyone chuckle while Panuleon placed a hand on his forehead and checked for any damage.
When he was done, he ruffled Luka's hair before sitting back down next to Corey who like Oliver and Luka, had about 5 layers on.
John and Jed were standing outside the door, talking happily.
They've been together for just over two thousand years now and that has given Oliver plenty of time to get used to their relationship.
John and Jed are also very used to it. They're comfortable with each other, they're very open about everything and act like soulmates.
Because they are.
"I'm going to get some breakfast," John said and kissed Jed on the cheek.
The angel beamed and pulled him into a surprise hug.
"Okay," He muffled into the side if his neck before letting hm go.
John smiled at him, he loved how angels are naturally affectionate.
He then proceeded to enter the dining-room with a twinkle in his eye.
"Dads," Rayvon said. "Now that we're eighteen, can we not share that single bed anymore?"
The kids turned eighteen only last week and ever since then, the angels have been on stand by and are listening to the whispers about the war.
So far, nothing has happened which does raise suspicion.
"I was expecting you to ask as soon as you turned eighteen" Oliver chuckled.
"I've been meaning to ask for a while. I woke up with Luka on the floor this morning. There's literally no room for him on the bed."
Over the years, Rayvon has become much wiser and more mature.
"Well we ordered another one so it should actually come today," Oliver said. The last one they ordered was two thousand years ago, it would be a crumbling mess if they kept it.
"Okay," Rayvon said and looked down to Luka who was in his own happy little world.
He loved to see the peace in his eyes when he lets his mind drift. He loved it when his thoughts felt so free and open.
He put his arm around him, pulling him from his little daydream.
Luka looked up with a cute smile which Rayvon had most definitely fallen in love with.
"Jasper and Sorina are coming today" Duke stated, changing everyone's chain of conversation.
"I feel like we haven't seen them in ages," Oliver said.
"It's because we haven't. It has been almost two vampire years."
Rayvon was about to ask something but he felt his soulmate shiver against his arm.
"Come on, we'll go and sit by the fire."
His soulmate was much more important.
They got up and walked around the grand table, getting ready to warm the half angel up.
"When is the heating getting fixed?" Corey asked. He was somewhat struggling to stay warm too.
"Hopefully, today, if the snow calms down."
Right now, it was like a blizzard outside.
"I might just go and sit in a warm shower until it's back on" Oliver chuckled.
"You'll look like a prune" Vinny mumbled.
Everyone laughed but it would probably take a while for them to get it fixed.
* * * * *
Two hours later and the heating is still not back on.
Oliver pulled his hat further over his ears, trying so hard to keep warm.
Everyone was just relaxing in the dining room because that's where the most warmth was due to the fireplace.
Jasper and Sorina had just arrived and were currently making their way to the dining room.
Rayvon was hugging Luka, trying to keep him as warm as he could.
The half angel was feeling the warmth from his soulmates big body but it was hard to really heat up when the cold gets right to his core.
Just then, the door opened and in walked Duke, Madison, Jasper, and Sorina.
Vinny, who looked unsurprisingly grumpy, was pulled up by Oliver to go and say hello.
"Boys! I can't believe how time flies" Jasper grinned and hugged Oliver which was something he never used to do, but Oliver's an exception.
Vinny was hugged by Sorina, He mildly hugged back but it made her chuckle. He's still the same old anti-social grandson.
Luka climbed off of Rayvon so he could get up and say hello.
Jasper patted Vinny's shoulder but his eye caught his great grandson.
"My god Rayvon" He chuckled. "You're massive!"
Believe it or not, Rayvon was actually sick of hearing that. Yes, he just grew rapidly over the past two vampire years. Not only did he get tall, he got very strong-built.
"I hadn't noticed" He joked.
Luka chuckled as Sorina gave him a hug.
"I knew you'd fill out at some point, I just didn't think it would happen so dramatically."
"You've just not seen me for a while, that's why it's so dramatic for you," Rayvon said and hugged Sorina too.
"And Luka, you haven't changed at all" Jasper beamed and placed a gentle hand on his shoulder. "But the size difference is a lot between you two."
Vinny rolled his eyes. Jasper always picks up on every single detail.
"So?" Rayvon shrugged. "It doesn't matter."
"No, it doesn't," Sorina said and glanced at her husband. "I still can't believe you both connected the world's strongest bond."
"Yes about that, am I allowed to-"
"No" Vinny interrupted. "You're not doing any tests on them."
"But Vinny-"
"Granddad, no. Just let them get on with it."
Rayvon looked pleased, he didn't want to sit and let him do whatever he wanted. He would fuss about everything and make an effort to point unnecessary things out.
"Come on Luka," Rayvon said and took his hand before pulling him around everyone.
"Wait, where are you both going? We wanted to spend some time with you kids" Jasper said but Madison put a hand on his shoulder.
"You're here all day, aren't you? You can spend time with them later, but right now you can talk to Vinny."
Vinny scowled at her which Oliver loved.
"Great."
As Luka and Rayvon walked out of the dining room and down the corridor, they really just wanted to spend time alone together.
It's great having such a big family and it's really nice to spend time with everyone, but time alone together is what they love best.
Rayvon looked down to his sweet little soulmate and gave him a loving smile.
"I'm so glad the beds coming today" Luka chuckled. "I don't think I could last another night waking up on the floor."
"I'm too big for the bed and I'm too long for the bed. It would be nice to just sleep next to you for once instead of having the fear that I'll roll over and crush you."
"I just can't believe you kept the deal for so long."
"I know" Rayvon chuckled. "But if I'm honest, I didn't think I'd grow this much."
