"Panuleon, did you put this up here? I can't reach it" Corey said while standing on his tiptoes and trying to reach the toothpaste.

"Oh, yes. You dropped it and I didn't know where it goes. Sorry, I didn't think" The angel said and leant over Corey to get it.

He put it in his hands and planted a kiss into his hair.

"Thanks" Corey beamed and began to brush his teeth.

Panuleon watched him with a gentle smile. During mating season, they're the only couple who are not affected. But so much love floating in the air does make them in the mood to show their affection more.

"What do you want to do today?" The angel asked while wrapping his arms around his soulmates shoulders and leaning into him.

"I don't know" Corey mumbled with the brush in his mouth.

Panuleon chuckled and waited until he was done.

When he was finished, he put his toothbrush down and turned towards his angel. He leant into him and gave him a big smile.

"It's my mum's birthday today."

Panuleon studied his eyes. He doesn't get upset about it anymore, he like's to celebrate the life his parents had.

"Does that mean what I think it means?"

Corey nodded with a grin.

"Let's bake her a cake."

When his mother was alive, she would bake a cake for everyone's birthday, it was never shop bought. She even baked herself a cake when it was her own birthday.

They like to pay respects in that way. Doing things for her that she would've done for them helps to keep the memories alive.

"I bet your parents are looking down on you now, feeling incredibly proud of what you've done."

Panuleon knew his parent's souls went up to heaven, he had asked Zachariah to check when Corey wasn't coping well.

When he first lost his parents, he was a mess. He was depressed and upset all the time.

He really struggled to live without them.

But Panuleon was there, comforting him and helping him through it.

"I wish Luka could've met them," Corey said while resting his head against his angel's chest.

"They'll be with him in spirit," Panuleon said and softly rubbed his back.

Corey nodded against his t-shirt.

Oliver was so lucky that his dad was turned into a vampire so he could live a long life too.

It was around midday, on the second day of mating season.

Corey and Panuleon were messing around in the kitchen, trying to bake this cake while Luka and Rayvon were sitting in the garden. Jed was in the dining-room, watching them through the window, making sure everything was okay.

John was sitting on the couch, trying to be distracted by Oliver but his soulmate was right there and he was finding it harder to resist him.

Vinny felt sorry for them. It was hard for him to keep a secret like this from Oliver but it shouldn't come from him, it should come from his dad.

"Jed, come here," Oliver said.

The angel looked away from the window and caught John's eye in the process.

Vinny watched as he walked over. He knew they'd be missing one another's touch so he laid down on the couch so he had no choice but to sit next to John.

Oliver stared at Vinny when his legs were sprawled over his lap.

"Excuse me," He said with a growing smile.

Vinny's blank expression didn't change but Oliver saw the amusement in his eyes.

Jed sat down next to John, but he didn't sit as close as he wished he did.

Vinny silently rolled his eyes. They were clearly finding this hard and he wanted to just push them together.

"Dad, I know I've asked you this already," Oliver said, completely unaware of what was happening. "But please let Jed find you a date!"

He was practically begging.

Vinny looked at his soulmate, and for the first time ever, he wished he had a stop talking button.

Jed and John tensed, but Oliver still didn't see it. His mind was getting hyper again.

"Please dad, don't say no. I want you to be happy."

"Oliver, I'm not going on any dates," John said as he glanced at Jed.

Duke chuckled at Oliver as he and Madison came over.

"Come on John, you need to get back in the game. I have a lovely woman that I think you'll like."

Vinny glared at his parents, but they didn't understand what they were doing.

"What?" Duke chuckled.

"Stop forcing him to do stuff. He has already said no."

Oliver looked at Vinny with a little frown.

"Dad, you've been alone for so long. Why don't you want to find someone to love?"

Jed was sitting quietly, trying to stay out of it although, he was right in the middle of it and nobody knew apart from Vinny.

"I don't want to go on any dates son, stop asking me."

"But-"

"Oliver" Vinny interrupted. "Just listen to him."

His tone was soft but he really needed Oliver to chill out, just for once.

"I am listening," Oliver said. "But I don't understand. You've not even made any efforts since mum. Why?"

John looked at him and he knew his son just wanted him to be happy.

"I loved your mother Oliver, it's hard to get over a love like that but I have and I'm happy now."

Jed knew he was talking about him and he felt a little warm inside.

"Well if you've gotten over it, surely now is a good time to go on dates?"

Oliver's mind couldn't understand why he'd want to be alone.

"Oliver," Vinny said before sitting up. "Stop pestering him."

"Wouldn't you pester your dad if he had been alone for all this time?"

"Oliver I'm fine, I don't need you to make these decisions for me."

"Just calm down for a little while," Vinny smiled before taking Oliver's hand.

"I am calm" Oliver sighed.

"John, you might find the one" Madison smiled. "You'd be so happy if you found your soulmate. Trust me when I say that."

"Yeah and you would-"

"Enough" John said, interrupting Oliver. "Will you all just stop. I've said no Oliver, so just leave it okay?"

Vinny watched his soulmate, seeing the surprise in his eyes from his dad's cagey behaviour.

Jed looked at John and his calm expression immediately made him relax. But he wanted him to tell everyone, he said he would so why is he delaying it?

John was just nervous.

"Honestly dad, I thought you'd like me making an effort. Why are you getting so heated about it?" Oliver asked quietly.

"Oliver you're not listening to me. I don't want you to make an effort" John said as he glanced at Jed. He had to tell them. He could see that Oliver was a little hurt that he didn't want to find love, he only wanted what's best for him. "Because for two years now, I have been happy."

"What do you mean?" Oliver asked.

Vinny was watching him, getting ready to calm him down.

Jed's heart was thumping in his chest. Was this it? Was it about to be revealed?

Just then, Corey and Panuleon came into the dining-room, holding each other's hand. Nobody really noticed, they were all focusing on John.

Panuleon sensed that the atmosphere was tense, so he stood by the door with Corey as they didn't make a sound.

John didn't know how to word it. He didn't know how to tell everyone but he couldn't go back now.

His mind was concentrating so hard on Jed.

Sometimes, actions speak louder than words.

Without even thinking, he turned and took hold of Jed's chin, pulling his head towards him.

He leant forwards and pushed their lips together.

Things in Oliver's mind seemed to go in slow motion.

It took him a few seconds to register what was going on and what his dad was doing.

Everyone but Vinny and Oliver looked incredibly shocked as they quietly gasped at witnessing such a thing.

Vinny was still staring at Oliver, his face wasn't showing anything, but he was holding his breath.

Jed's heart exploded before his mind went numb. They were kissing, which was great. But they were kissing in front of everyone.

John felt so much warmth but inside, he was going crazy.

They've kept this a secret for so long, now it was finally out in the open and he didn't know how to feel.

Oliver still hadn't let go of his breath.

Vinny squeezed his shoulder and tried turning his face towards him, but he didn't let him.

All that was flashing through his mind was his mother.

The last person who he saw his dad kiss was her and emotions were stabbing him in the heart.

Why?

He thought he would be happy seeing him with someone else. But it was with Jed and he couldn't register it. He never thought that would ever happen.

"Oliver, breathe," Vinny said when John pulled his head back and tried so hard to just stare at Jed. He was aware that all eyes were on them.

Oliver let his breath out, but he couldn't cope with his mum, filling his mind. He didn't know why he wasn't coping.

Vinny frowned when he didn't feel the emotions he thought Oliver would show.

Suddenly, he got up and ran towards the door.

Everyone moved out of Oliver's way as he opened the door and quickly ran away.

Vinny was stunned.

Why was he running? He thought he would be over the moon with this news.

He got up and ran after his soulmate while Jed's eye's filled with worry.

Everyone glanced at one another.

Firstly, they were trying to process this news, secondly, Oliver should've been the most excited person in the room but he wasn't.

"Does he not accept us?" Jed whispered as John took his hands.

"I think he's just overwhelmed, give him time."

Panuleon and Corey were watching them, they were shocked. Especially Panuleon.

They hid it well for him to not know about it.

"Wait a second," Duke said as he pinched the bridge of his nose. "You two are together?"

"Yes," John said, making Madison's eyebrows raise even higher.

"But, you- uh" He had no idea how to react. This was so shocking.

Madison suddenly burst with happiness.

"This, is, amazing!" She beamed. "So you're like a couple!?"

"We're soulmates," Jed said quietly. He still felt bad for Oliver, he needed to hear what was going through his mind.

"I can't believe this" Duke chuckled. "You connected a bond? When on earth did that happen?"

He and Madison sat down on the couch, needing to hear more.

"Two years ago," John said. He was itching to talk to Oliver but he knew Vinny had it under control.

Duke's face remained shocked as he gawked at them.

"Two years" He repeated. "You two have known you were soulmates for two whole years and you never said anything?"

Jed felt John's fingers intertwine with his. Everyone glanced at their hands but they had to be close when they felt like this.

They both nodded slowly.

"Oh, my gosh" Duke mumbled and shook his head. "This is madness."

"Oliver stop running," Vinny said as he chased him down a corridor on the second floor.

Oliver's eyes were full of tears but he didn't want Vinny to see him this way.

He turned a corner and ran straight into the bedroom.

Vinny hated that he was such a fast runner, it made it almost impossible to catch up.

Oliver shut the door and locked it, just as Vinny reached it and pulled the handle.

But the door wouldn't open.

"Oliver," He said and banged on it. "Let me in."

Oliver stepped to the side and sank to the floor. The tears fell from his eyes, he still couldn't get his mum out of his head and it was annoying him and messing with his emotions.

Vinny rested his head against the door when he didn't reply.

"Oliver," He said again. "Please, open the door."

His voice was soft and calming but his soulmate didn't want him to see the tears. He doesn't cry often, in fact, Oliver is very rarely upset.

But this is why Vinny was desperate to get to him. He couldn't stand to feel these emotions.

When their chests began to hurt, he reached up and unlocked the door. He shouldn't care, Vinny has witnessed every emotion he has ever shown.

When the vampire heard the door click, he immediately opened it and stepped in.

He looked around with desperate eyes, only to see his sobbing soulmate, curled up against the wall.

His heart broke as he shut the door and ran to his aid.

He wrapped his arms around him and pulled his tear stained face into his shoulder.

"Why are you crying?" He whispered.

"I-I don't know" Oliver hiccuped and gripped him tight. "Well, T-The last person my dad kissed was my mum. Now I can't stop thinking about her" He cried.

Vinny's chest felt heavy, he hated this.

He rocked him slowly and rubbed his back. He whispered soothing things into his ear, desperately trying to calm him down.

"Shhh, take deep breaths."

Oliver listened to his soulmate and took in his comforts.

He had to calm down, he knew he should be exceptionally happy for his dad but his mind wasn't prepared to see him kiss someone so suddenly.

Yes, he was ready to get him to date, other people. He wanted to see his dad happy more than anyone, but he was just in shock and sometimes, that emotion can stir up other ones.

After a few minutes, Oliver's tears stopped and his hiccuping calmed down.

Vinny continued to rock him until he lifted his head.

His eyes were all red and puffy while he rubbed his sleeve on his wet cheeks.

"It's just, I don't know why I cried. I couldn't stop myself from getting upset" Oliver breathed. "I couldn't stop thinking about mum. I know it has been a long time and- and I shouldn't be affected anymore. I'm just shocked. I didn't expect-"

"Oliver" Vinny interrupted. "Remember, don't try and let everything out all at once. Just focus on one thing at a time."

Oliver nodded and looked down to his lap.

Vinny helped him to take a few calming breaths before he started again.

"Do you think he's upset that I ran away?" He asked quietly.

"No, of course not" Vinny's voice was so calm. "He'll understand."

"What if Jed thinks I don't accept it? But I do! I can't believe they kissed. Oh, are they together now!? How long-"

"Stop it, calm down" Vinny interrupted while putting a few fingers over his soulmates mouth.

If he let him explode verbally when he felt like this, he would only work himself up again.

"Let me tell you what's going on between them two so you don't bombard them with questions, okay?" Vinny said.

Oliver nodded but quickly frowned.

"Wait, did you know?"

Vinny stopped and stared into his eyes.

"Yes."

Oliver's mouth opened again but Vinny leant forwards and kissed him. It was warm, delicate and soothing.

"Just hear me out," Vinny said and pulled Oliver onto his knee.

His soulmates decided that he would sit patiently. He needed to calm down and he needed to know the facts.

Vinny explained everything, from when he caught them together to when he sat down with them and talked about it.

Oliver couldn't help but feel a little angry at himself.

His dad was finally happy and he got upset. It was just a shock to his system but it was a little selfish of him to run off like that.

His dad admitted something that was probably really hard for him to do and he now felt terrible.

Deep down, there was a big burst of excitement brewing.

As soon as it sinks in that his dad is soulmates with Jeduthun the angel, Oliver will not be able to think or contain his happiness.
