Chapter 27
So the tent is up.
It is supposed to have four little rooms that can be added to the inside but someone forgot them so now it's just one big empty space.
Nobody was fussed about it, though, this way they could be more social at night time.
It is now half seven in the evening and everything was set up.
Oliver and Vinny were sitting on camping chairs, just outside the tent with a bottle of beer each. They were watching Corey and Panuleon play with Rayvon and Luka.
The other members of public have not yet disturbed them and the other kids haven't approached their kids yet.
"I reckon we have about an hour and a half of daylight," Oliver said. "Wait, did we bring torches?"
"No," Vinny said casually. "but you have one on your phone."
"Oh yes. See, nothing to worry about."
Vinny eyed him as the panic died down from his expression. He had an idea as to why Oliver doesn't like camping so much.
It's not just because he misses home comforts, he's not that fond of the dark.
Only Vinny knows this and would never tell anyone else.
Oliver is maybe a little embarrassed about it but he doesn't like it when he can't see his surroundings.
There were plug sockets next to the tent, they had waterproof covers and the Vanderwood's had brought a charging cable so they could make tea and coffee, cook with their portable cooker, charge phones and so on.
"Heads up!" Rayvon suddenly yelled but just as Oliver looked up, he got a Frisbee straight to the face.
He was startled and fell backwards off the chair, spilling his beer all over himself.
Vinny watched with raised eyebrows as his soulmate laid on the ground, holding what was left of his drink up in the air.
The vampire knew he wasn't hurt as Rayvon ran over.
"Dad, are you okay?" He asked, slightly amused, slightly worried.
"I'm great son," He said and didn't even bother getting up as he took a sip of his drink.
Vinny laughed and shook his head.
"Next time, film it."
Rayvon chuckled but hovered on his toes, just making sure his dad was definitely okay.
"Um, there won't be a next time" Oliver chuckled before sitting up. "Here" He passed his son the Frisbee back and sat on his chair. "You can hit us, just not the public. I'll buy you and Luka an ice cream if you hit your grandparents."
Vinny scoffed.
"They'll be big ones if you can get John more than five times."
Rayvon looked at Luka who had been listening. He couldn't help it, Rayvon's voice was so vibrant in the back of his mind.
"Okay," He said happily and ran off.
His parents watched, getting ready to watch and snigger.
"I smell like an alcoholic now" Oliver said while looking down at his wet t-shirt.
"Take it off," Vinny said, his eyes showing a little twinkle.
"It is pretty warm" Oliver shrugged and pulled it off. He got up and hung it over the side of the tent so it would dry quicker.
Vinny's eyes scanned his toned chest and abs while he sat back down again.
"You're doing it in public," Oliver said, trying not to grin.
"Doing what?"
"Undressing me with your eyes."
"It's not my fault you look like that is it?"
They both stared at each other as Oliver was enjoying that compliment.
"No, no it's not. It's all of my hard work in the gym, paying off."
Vinny scoffed again and crossed his arms.
"Oliver, do you even understand what exercise is?"
"Um, yes..."
Oliver's eyes darted anywhere but at Vinny's. They both know he never ever works out. He never steps foot in the gym and will avoid exercise at any cost.
"I don't understand how you look like that. You never do anything" Vinny said. He works out, often with Duke and that's probably why he's more muscular than Oliver.
But Oliver's body is perfect.
"Me neither actually" He frowned. "Maybe it's because I'm like a five-year-old on a sugar rush the majority of the time."
Vinny chuckled, that is so true. He's like a hyper little kid and sometimes doesn't know how to walk slowly.
"That has to be it."
They both grinned at one another, realising how strange their conversation turned out to be.
"I need the toilet" Oliver then said and stood up. He looked around and as predicted, the toilets were at the other end of the field.
He sighed and stepped around Vinny who sneakily tried tripping him up. But he knows him well enough to have seen that coming.
"I'll be back in two hours."
Vinny rolled his eyes.
"You're so dramatic."
"No, I'm not" Oliver frowned.
They gave one another amused glances before he walked off.
Madison then came out of the tent with a huge grin.
Vinny stared blankly at her as his eyes dimmed immediately.
"You listened didn't you?"
"Of course, I did" She chuckled. "The tent's not sound proof."
"Mum" He groaned and took his gaze to his son. "You're so embarrassing."
"Vincent, appreciate your mother," She said and put her hands on her hips.
Vinny nearly spat out his drink.
"Never call me that again" He grumbled.
They both heard Duke chuckling from inside the tent.
Satisfied, Madison sat down next to him and also took her gaze to the rest of the family.
* * * * *
Oliver ignored the stares he was getting as he approached the toilets. Half way there he realised that he didn't put his t-shirt back on.
The majority of guys didn't have t-shirts on so it didn't matter.
There was a line heading into the toilets but it was a mixture of boys and girls. The toilets had a unisex sign on it which Oliver thought was a little odd.
He has never been to mixed gender toilets before.
As he stood patiently at the back of the line, the public was trying so hard not to go crazy and bombard him.
They know Oliver is nice and friendly but they didn't want to creep him out by getting too excited.
Having someone so important standing casually next to them was like meeting their favourite celebrity or their favourite band member.
This person was the first human to connect his soul by one hundred percent with his soulmate, this person was the first human to enter another world and this human was the first ever man to give birth to a child conceived by two males.
Oliver has done a lot of spectacular things in his time and they value just how important he is.
A group of girls who were in shorts and bikini tops were giggling and glancing over at him.
"Please, Master. Go in front of me" A guy said, desperately trying to be as polite as he could manage.
"Oh, no it's okay. I'll wait my turn" Oliver smiled. "But thank you."
His friendly response was a go ahead for the group of girls aged probably in their late twenties to come over.
"Hello Master," One said as she bit her bottom lip.
Oliver didn't even read that as a possible flirt before smiling politely.
"It's warm isn't it?" She asked while flicking her hair over her shoulder and pulling gently on her shoulder strap.
"Yep," Oliver said and crossed his arms, still completely unaware.
"You look warm."
He then watched as her eyes scanned over his body.
He has seen that look before, but where?
It suddenly clicked in his head that she was looking at him in the same way that Vinny looked at him.
He stood up straighter, feeling a tiny bit uncomfortable.
It has been a very long time since a female has tried flirting with him and it did not feel right.
Vinny's eyes excited him, her eyes made him want to cover up and run away.
Everyone in the line looked just as awkward as him. Oliver has a husband, one that nobody would even dare to mess with so why is a female trying to flirt like this?
"I like your authority" She half whispered and stepped closer.
The group of ladies that she was with were grinning and giggling with each other.
Oliver watched her with a confused frown. He was interested to see how long this would go on for.
"I like your power" She whispered and lightly touched his arm.
This woman was extremely pretty and if this was any other guy, they would be so lucky.
But Oliver was gay and very much in love with someone else.
"What's your name?" He then asked the guy who was standing next to him.
"Oh, me?" He asked, a little startled for the master to be speaking directly to him.
Oliver nodded with a smile.
"Uh, Joe."
"Are you gay and are you single?"
"No, and yes."
"Oh would you look at that, a perfect match," He said and pushed that guy towards the flirty woman.
This raised some sniggers through the line that wasn't moving due to the entertainment.
"I don't want him," The woman said as she looked him up and down like he was nothing special. "I want you."
Her tone was tender and she was trying so hard to convince him.
Oliver was cringing so bad, did he need to be more strict with this woman? She was making him rather uncomfortable.
"He's mine" A deep voice suddenly said.
Oliver turned to see Vinny, standing right next to him as he glared at the woman.
The line suddenly tensed, forgetting that vampires could move at lightning speeds.
Vinny looked incredibly powerful, wise and dark.
Oliver's heart was beating fast at his vampires words. He loved it when he said that.
"You're making him uncomfortable, so back off" He grumbled.
The woman had also visibly tensed, not thinking he would come so fast. Also, Vinny's aura and angry eyes scared her.
Oliver felt proud. He was Vinny Vanderwood's soulmate, the one who he would do anything for.
The woman thought about trying it again, but grabbed Joe's hand and stormed off with him. He looked incredibly surprised by this and just followed the beautiful woman.
Oliver watched for a few seconds more before turning to Vinny.
"She think's I'm hot" He grinned.
Vinny had to stop himself from laughing out loud at his happy statement.
"She's not allowed" He muttered before wrapping an arm around his shoulders and glaring at everyone who was still watching them.
"Why's that?" Oliver asked, wanting him to say it again.
"Because you're mine," Vinny said as he looked at him with those eyes. Those beautiful chocolate brown eyes were looking at him seductively and Oliver couldn't be more pleased.
He wrapped an arm around his vampire's waist and planted a kiss onto his soft lips.
"Yes, I am."
