Chapter 25
"Um, Rayvon," Luka said quietly. "Can I hold your hand?"
They were sitting together at the bottom of the garden, doing homework.
Yesterday's events with the paparazzi made Luka have quite a few nightmares through the night.
So he and Rayvon haven't really had much sleep.
"Of course, you don't have to ask" Rayvon smiled.
Luka blushed a little bit while they slowly edged their hands together.
Their heart rate's increased when Luka hovered his hand over his.
They watched as his warm fingers slotted perfectly in between Rayvon's.
When their palms gently connected, excitement flushed through their chests as sparks shot up their arms.
There was something about sharing that physical touch. It made them crazy for one another's comfort.
"Okay, I'm done," Rayvon said and dropped his school book on the floor.
"But we're only half way through the test papers," Luka said, trying so hard not to concentrate on his friend's warmth.
"We can do it later" He smiled and edged a little closer. "Don't worry about it."
Luka would normally get everything done immediately and revise for tests all the time, but with him wanting to spend every minute with Rayvon who does the complete opposite, it's hard for his mind to concentrate on studying.
"Okay," Luka said and also put down his book. It was hard to concentrate on it anyway. His mind was constantly vibrant with Rayvon.
"Can I ask you a question?"
"Sure," He said before Rayvon's grip on his hand got tighter.
"What is the fist thing you think about when you wake up?"
It was a weird question but he wanted to see if they had the same answer.
The boys looked at each other, feeling that jolt of affection, every time.
"You," Luka said quietly. But it was true. Now, it's very rare for them not to be thinking about each other every second of the day.
"Me too" Rayvon smiled. "It's impossible to get you out of my head. Most people would be annoyed by that, but I like thinking about you."
Luka looked down with a little smile. But his soulmate loved it when he did that.
"Luka."
The boy looked back up to him, his cheeks slightly pink.
"I'm glad you're my soulmate."
Their hearts skipped a beat. They could feel and hear each other at every moment of every day. This would be harder for them to accept if they were not best friends since the very beginning.
"Me too."
Luka leant towards him and snuggled into his side.
Rayvon put his arm around his shoulders and held him closer.
Their hands stayed strongly intertwined. They felt completely relaxed when they could be this close. It settled their minds.
Luka yawned while watching the mansion at the bottom of the garden. There was something very relaxing about being here. It was peaceful, warm, sunny and he was sitting right next to the person who his soul is combined with.
Things have changed very quickly, but it was a good change.
Rayvon watched Luka's magical eyes as they began to close. They both didn't get much sleep. The poor boy is still quite traumatised by what happened.
But when he's with Rayvon, it's easy for him to settle down.
He could feel Luka's body leaning into him more as his head started to rest against his shoulder. He was glad that he would get some sleep although, he was feeling quite tired too.
The gentle sound of birds above was quite soothing as Rayvon felt himself beginning to drift off too.
* * * * *
Oliver tilted his head with a huge smile on his face.
He was standing at the bottom of the garden, looking at his son and Luka sleeping against one another.
He had gone to find them because Lunch was ready but he didn't think they'd be sleeping.
Rayvon had both arms wrapped around Luka's waist as the half angel held onto his waistcoat with one hand and his other one was resting gently against his thigh.
His head had fallen into the crook of Rayvon's neck and they both looked so happy to be this close.
Oliver walked over and crouched next to his son. He put a hand on his shoulder and shook it gently.
"Rayvon."
The boy heard the familiar sound of his parent before his head lifted up. His tired eyes blinked open in confusion.
He looked around, seeming to be a little lost until he remembered that they were studying in the garden and must have fallen asleep.
"Hey," Oliver said softly with a kind smile.
Rayvon loved his dad for how happy and kind he always is.
"Lunch is ready if you want to come in and get some? Or I can bring some to you."
Rayvon uncoiled one of his arms from around Luka's waist and rubbed his eyes.
"Actually, we can all come out and join you both, this spot is quite nice" Oliver beamed.
"Okay," Rayvon smiled, not minding the extra company. "Do you want some help?"
"No, no. It's okay" He said and stood up straight. "I'll go and get everyone and the food."
Rayvon watched as his dad turned and Jogged back across the garden.
He then looked down to Luka, not wanting to wake him up.
It was very strange when one of them is asleep because they could hear each other's thoughts and in dreams, they never made any sense.
He leant his head down and whispered in his ear.
"Luka, it's time to wake up."
His soulmate heard him instantly. His words would always drown out a dream no matter how deep his sleep was.
His eyes flickered open while his grip tightened on Rayvon's waistcoat. He blinked back the blur of confusion as he wondered where he was.
But he was with Rayvon and knew he was safe. He then remembered falling asleep after they had been studying for a while.
He rubbed his eyes and sat up a little straighter.
He glanced at his friend who was watching him, as always.
"Our dad's are coming to have lunch. They're bringing everything over."
"Okay," He said quietly, making Rayvon's heart burst from how cute he is. "Are they coming now?"
"Yeah, and I know you're hungry."
Luka looked up to him but he kind of understood how he would know that.
"This is still a little strange, isn't it?"
"Yes, but we'll never feel the way we did before we connected the bond. This is how we'll feel forever."
The word 'forever' echoed in the back of their minds.
Rayvon was right, they will be together forever. They'll get used to their feelings and make a wonderful couple. They'll get married and maybe conceive impossible children. It's really hard for all of that to sink in, but it's a nice thought.
"I'm okay with that" Luka smiled, knowing his life would now completely revolve around Rayvon Vanderwood, the boy who he has probably been in love with his whole life, he just didn't know it.
"I am too. I'm glad my soulmate is someone who I know really well. It would've been weird meeting a stranger and falling in love with them."
They often wondered how their parents managed to cope with falling in love with someone who they had never met, but that was a whole different story.
Just then, Panuleon landed in front of them.
He was carrying Corey who was holding onto a basket full of food.
"Hello boys" The angel smiled while putting down his soulmate. He went over and ruffled his son's hair and gave Rayvon a big smile.
Corey also greeted them and put the basket on the grass.
They had noticed that the boys were sitting exceptionally close but they didn't want to make a fuss and embarrass them.
Rayvon watched as Oliver walked over with his hand holding onto Vinny's.
Panuleon sat down and put his wings away just as Luka shined his, not being able to help it. They were itchy and needed air but they come out unexpectedly sometimes.
Rayvon pulled his head back so he wasn't inhaling his feathers.
"Sorry," Luka mumbled quietly before folding them.
"It's okay, you can stretch them behind me" Rayvon smiled. He absolutely loved Luka's wings and probably always will.
Luka did just that as Panuleon eyed his feathers.
"We'll clean them after Lunch," He said.
Luka nodded. It has been just over a day since they last cleaned them but they needed constant attention.
"Can I help?" Rayvon asked while subconsciously playing with a few feathers at the bottom of his wing. The small ones were the softest.
"Of course," Luka smiled as he concentrated on his touch. "It'll be faster that way."
"I like this feather," Rayvon declared before pointing to one. "Because it's completely gold."
Everyone looked at the feather. It was beautiful beyond belief, as were the rest of his wings.
No angel has ever seen anything like this and it's very unlikely that they will ever see anything like it again.
When Rayvon's parents reached them, they sat down with another basket of food.
"I'm so hungry," Oliver said and started pulling out some bread and cheese.
Vinny watched him with a little smile, he loved how the sun made his big green eyes sparkle.
"Did you get a lot of studying done?" Corey asked while making his son a sandwich.
Luka nodded as Rayvon pulled out some chocolate which Vinny took off him.
"You can have that after your sandwich."
Rayvon shot him daggers but crossed his arms and waited.
"Oh, Rayvon. could you-"
"Sure," He said and reached for a bottle of orange juice. Not only can he and Luka hear what each other want but they can feel it too.
If Luka craved the taste of orange juice, Rayvon would crave it too.
Corey smiled to himself, trying not to get too excited.
It was great that they could picture them as soulmates after keeping the secret in for all this time, it's nice that it's now out in the open.
Just then, Madison and Duke stepped out and into the garden. They looked around before spotting everyone at the bottom, under a tree.
They were not joining them for lunch but they had something exciting to tell them.
Vinny gave Rayvon his sandwich while Luka put his wings away and ate his lunch too.
The kids were still leaning against each other and they didn't want to separate. Being so close was the best feeling in the world.
When Duke and Madison reached everyone, Vinny could tell they had news. Judging by how big Madison's smile was.
"Boys, I know that recently we've been cooped up in the mansion and haven't really done anything fun together."
Vinny wondered where his mum was going with this.
"So we've decided to take you all out for a few days."
Duke looked around at his family, loving the people who are now in his life.
"We're going camping!"
