Chapter 22

When the angels landed in the dining room, they immediately tended to Luka.

He was shaking with his head buried into Panuleon's shoulder. The angel put Corey down and sat on the couch with his son.

Rayvon pulled away from Jed and hurried over.

As soon as he rested his hand on Luka's shoulder, the boy turned and buried himself into Rayvon's chest. They instantly wrapped their arms around each other.

He swapped places with Panuleon so Luka was sitting on his lap instead.

It appeared that the boys really needed each other's comfort in times of such stress.

Rayvon rubbed Luka's back as he gripped onto his waistcoat. He was shaking but trying so hard to calm himself down.

His soulmates smell was helping a lot and he could hear his soothing thoughts and feel his warm touch.

"Just remember to breathe Luka," Rayvon said, feeling his grip tighten. When a tear slipped from his eye, he sat back on the couch and cuddled into him.

Luka curled up, feeling safe in his arms. He closed his eyes and really focused on the comforts of his best friend.

Just then, the dining room door opened and Madison hurried in.

She looked around and quickly walked over.

"Is everyone okay?" She asked and took Jed's hands.

"Mostly everyone," He said and squeezed her hands back, knowing the alphas would feel responsible because they left the mansion for the day.

The one time they try and get peace to themselves and chaos erupts.

She took her gaze to the boys to see Rayvon trying so hard to calm Luka down.

The poor boy was shaking and gripping him tight.

"Did they corner him?" She asked.

Jed nodded, he was still incredibly angry.

Madison dropped her hands to her side with sadness. Of course, they would go for the weakest.

"They also pulled out quite a lot of his feathers," Jed said, knowing how much that hurts when it's a clump of them.

Madison clenched her jaw.

"Those basta-"

"Panuleon" Vinny interrupted as he, Oliver, John and Duke entered the dining-room. "Can you heal Oliver?"

The angel looked up and nodded straight away.

"Wait," Oliver said. "Is anyone else injured first?"

"You're injured and that's just as important," Vinny said and pulled him over to the angel.

Panuleon looked at the back of his head and it was just a cut but it was bleeding a lot.

"Do you feel dizzy?" He asked as he gently took the side's of his face in his hands.

"No, I'm fine," Oliver said while looking at the boys who were in their own little world. "Are the boys hurt?"

"I don't know, I'll check when Luka calms down."

Oliver nodded as the cool sensation of the angels healing powers flooded his brain.

Vinny watched, he couldn't cope if he knew Oliver was hurting. Even if it was just a cut.

Duke put his arm around Madison, knowing she could help him to calm down. He was still unbelievably angry.

She took his hand and squeezed it tight.

"It's alright my love, we'll sort this out" She soothed.

Duke's eyes were still red and he was facing away from the boys, knowing that it sometimes freaks Luka out.

He knows when fangs are out that it means people are angry and he didn't need to see angry faces right now.

"Thank you Panuleon" Oliver smiled before stepping closer to Vinny who had his fists clenched. It would also take the vampire a while to settle down.

"You're welcome" Panuleon looked so calm and relaxed, but on the inside, he was extremely upset and angry. Corey could feel it.

"Are you okay John?" Jed asked.

"Yes, are you?"

Jed nodded.

"Thank you for your help, Corey and Panuleon would've stressed a lot more if you didn't keep them together."

"There's no need to thank me, we would all do the same for each other."

Jed nodded again with a smile. John was right.

Luka's breathing had calmed after listening to Rayvon's voice, echoing in the back of his mind and feeling his warm hands rubbing against his back.

Rayvon simply watched him. He couldn't take his gaze away from the boys face that was half buried against his chest.

He would not stop holding him tight until he was okay again.

He couldn't wait to see that bright smile on his face and see his magical eyes.

"Are any of the staff injured?" Panuleon asked.

"The doorman broke his nose, they pushed the door into his face just so they could get in," Madison said. Her usual joyful eyes were dimmed and there was no smile on her face.

Vinny didn't like it when she looked like that.

He loved his mum for her upbeat moods and expressions. It felt like the whole world was going to cave in when his mum was down.

He decided to walk over to the door and get the attention of one of the staff.

The guy who had told them that the paparazzi had broken in was lingering around the door.

"Oh, master!" He said and quickly walked over, which surprised the vampire. Nobody voluntarily gets closer to him, they're always too intimidated. "Is everybody okay?"

"Everyone is fine," He said bluntly. "Thank you for your concern but can you bring the doorman here please?"

"Of course and if there's anything any of us can do, we'll be glad to help."

Most staff stopped and nodded.

Vinny felt himself relax as his gaze softened. His workers may not live for as long as them so they see many different faces as the years go by, but if they do work here they are incredibly loyal, helpful, kind and giving.

"Thank you, we really do appreciate how much dedication you put into your work. Today, more than ever."

The staff beamed at the vampire, knowing how hard it was for him to admit that and how honoured they should feel that Vinny Vanderwood said something like this to them.

He cleared his throat and stood up straighter.

"Tell the doorman to come straight in, we're expecting him."

The staff nodded as he turned and went back into the dining-room.

They all looked at each other with happy grins. They really do love the Vanderwood's, as do the public.

Nobody was aware that they were crowding up outside. They had posters with lot's of lovely quotes aimed at Luka. They felt so sorry for the boy. He looked traumatized by the reporters and they knew he'd be damaged by this.

The Vanderwood's look after their city very well so why not give some love in return.

Luka eventually lifted his head and rubbed his wet eyes dry.

He opened them, knowing the first thing he'd see was Rayvon. That was enough to really settle him down. It was just his hands that were trembling now as he stayed sitting on his soulmates lap.

Rayvon's gaze was lost in his beautiful eyes. Being a half angel, it was true that Luka's features were absolutely perfect. He also comes with a very calm aura when he's feeling back to normal.

Everything about him screams angel, he just doesn't have the strengths of one.

But everything about Rayvon screams Vampire. He dressed like one, he had the dark and powerful aura around him, he slept like one and had the fangs and the strengths of one. The only thing that he didn't do was move at incredible speeds and drink blood.

As far as anyone was aware, this is the first time a half angel or half vampire has ever been born.

Every Vampire who has a human soulmate will always produce a full vampire, that's just how it goes.

Angel and human relationships are still forbidden so nobody ever went as far as to produce children if their relationship was a secret.

Luka was the first and in heaven, he is already worshipped by those angels who are not brave enough to live their lives how they want to live it.

The kids are extremely unique, rare and precious.

They're one of a kind and the world has noticed.

Rayvon smiled at his soulmate, needing to see a smile in return.

Luka could feel it and he showed a cute little one, sending Rayvon's heart into a pit of love and happiness.

"You don't need to worry anymore, I'll never let anyone hurt you again" He whispered. That was exactly what the boy needed to hear as he wrapped his arms around Rayvon's shoulders and gave him a hug.

"You came to me" He whispered.

While Rayvon was running to the second floor, he heard Luka calling for him in the back of his mind and it made him even more determined to be by his side, no matter what it cost.

"I'll always come when you call for me."

Luka now knew that and it warmed their soul. He liked to think of Rayvon as his protector. This person would protect him from anything. It wasn't selfish to think like that, Rayvon thought of himself as one too.

He was satisfied that he could be the one to keep him safe.

Little did they know, when the great war comes, their lives will depend on the trust they share for one another.
