Chapter 18
"You... what?" Oliver questioned.
"well, you know the um, the- Jed?" Rayvon said and looked at the door. He had no idea how to word it.
The angel quickly popped his head around and looked at everyone to see if everything was okay.
Rayvon motioned for him to come over.
The angel hasn't been able to stop thinking about the bond and he was itching for everyone to know.
"C-Can you tell them what happened?" Rayvon asked, making Jed's eyes light up.
"Of course!" He beamed. Everyone looked at him while he cleared his throat. "So, about twenty minutes ago, the boys connected their bond. They told me not to say anything but it's clear that the change is a lot to deal with."
Oliver's mouth hung open as everyone glanced between the two kids.
"But..." Corey said, not quite believing it.
"They're only sixteen," Oliver said.
Vinny knew there was something going on, he just thought that maybe Rayvon had asked to kiss Luka like they discussed earlier, he didn't think it was something as big as this.
Panuleon stepped forwards and without warning, he put his hands on Rayvon's head and Luka's head. He closed his eyes and really concentrated.
"What's he doing?" Oliver asked while looking down at Corey.
"He's looking into their souls."
It takes a lot of concentration for him to do this but he had to see if they were telling the truth.
The boys stayed still as Panuleon began to frown. He was really concentrating but he has never felt anything quite like this.
A few moments went by before he gasped and stumbled back.
Everyone watched with concern, what did he see?
"Your souls," Panuleon said in shock.
"What is it?" Oliver asked.
"You know how I have my soul and Corey has his soul and they're merged together," He said, making everyone nod. "The kids don't. They just have one soul between them. They're not merged, they're officially one."
Everyone glanced at each other, this was big.
"But that's impossible," Duke said. "Two people sharing just one complete soul?"
The angel nodded.
"And the way it's combining you both is almost untouchable. The amount of power that's bringing you together is incredible."
"You should've seen what happened when it connected, I thought the house was going to fall down" Jed chuckled. "I have never seen anything like this."
Rayvon and Luka thought of themselves as two regular people, it's so hard to believe that something like this has happened to them.
"So it's official, they've connected?" Oliver asked.
"Yes," Panuleon said while looking at his son.
Oliver lunged forwards and wrapped his arms around them both.
"I can't believe it!"
Vinny shook his head and crossed his arms, he knew Oliver wouldn't be able to contain his excitement.
"You're soulmates!" He grinned and pushed them together as he ruffled their hair. "This is amazing!"
Rayvon was just happy to have Luka so close but they still were not aware of how big this actually was.
Corey then came over, getting ready to fuss over them.
"We need to test the bonds strengths," Panuleon said to Vinny.
The vampire nodded at Panuleon. They shared a glance, knowing how special their connection was going to be.
"Are you in love?" Oliver asked.
"Oliver," Vinny said and gently tugged on his arm to pull him back. "They've only just connected, be patient."
"Yes, you're right. I'm getting ahead of myself," He said and took a calming breath.
Vinny smiled. He loves it when he get's so happy about things.
"How do you both feel?" Corey asked.
"Strange," Rayvon mumbled, which was the truth. "I don't know, it's confusing."
"Okay let's go to the dining room and figure this out," Panuleon said. He couldn't imagine how hard this must be to cope with. They had no idea that this was going to happen.
The grandparents were staying quiet for now. They wanted to let everything calm down before they could fuss about it. But Judging by how tight Madison's grip was on Duke's arm showed just how hard that was for her.
Everyone agreed with the angel and started moving towards the door.
All eyes were on the kids who were still exceptionally close. Luka felt a little overwhelmed, he hated being the centre of attention.
Rayvon wanted to take his hand so badly, he wanted to feel his little fingers intertwined with his and the soft feel of their palms held tightly together.
But he was a little embarrassed to show that much love to him. He needed a little while to accept that this was the situation and it wasn't going to change.
Not that he wanted it to.

When they reached the dining room, there was something they should test first.
"We need to see how far you're allowed to be apart and for how long," Vinny said while putting his hands in his pockets. "Rayvon, come with me. I know you've been past the five-meter mark in the gym so this must be down to time."
Vinny grabbed Oliver on the way past as they walked to the door.
Luka watched his friend leave. For some reason, the idea of not being able to see him was terrifying.
Rayvon stopped and turned back to him.
"Is that you who feels that? Are you scared?" He was having a hard time decided what his own feelings are.
Luka's fiddled with the ends of his hoody sleeves which Rayvon thought was incredibly cute.
"I just... It's nothing" He said quietly.
"I think I'll panic if I can't see him."
Rayvon heard his thoughts and took a step forward.
"I'll just be outside the door," He said and looked back to his parents who were waiting for him. "I think it's important for us to know how long we can be apart for so we don't do it by accident in the future."
Luka let his voice melt into him, he couldn't get over how much he liked it.
"Okay," He said and nodded to himself for reassurance.
Rayvon wanted to run and hug him but he was still embarrassed that all the attention was on them.
"Wait" Oliver then said as he pulled out his phone. "I'll start the timer after you let go of each other, then we know the exact time." He didn't think it would be two hours, that was too long for a bond like this.
Luka took that as an opportunity to go over to his friend.
They instantly took each other's hand, feeling that familiar relief of connecting again.
"Okay, whenever you're ready," Oliver said, trying not to get all excited again.
Corey was squeezing his angels arm, also trying to hold himself together.
Rayvon looked into Luka's magical eyes, feeling overcome with strong emotions. He couldn't wait for them to be by themselves so they can really talk openly about it.
Oliver watched as they slowly let go before starting the timer.
For them to re-connect their limit, they'll have to make physical contact.
Rayvon turned and followed his parents out of the room as Luka tried not to freak out.
He hated that lonely feeling in the pit of his stomach, eating away at him.
Corey came over and rested a hand on his shoulder, trying to comfort him. They could see the worry in his eyes.
Rayvon was true to his word and sat right outside the door.
Vinny and Oliver sat on the floor next to him as staff tried not to glance at them.
A few members of staff were in the corridor when the boys had connected the bond. They saw the gold light shining through the cracks of the door and wondered what it was.
Oliver was twiddling his thumbs and trying to keep down the many, many questions he had.
"Are you okay Rayvon?" Vinny asked.
"I feel so lonely."
The couple looked at their son, not expecting that.
"Is it because you can't see each other?"
"I think so" He sighed sadly. "I wish you had told us this was going to happen. Then my head wouldn't be so scrambled right now."
Vinny looked at Oliver, they felt sorry for him.
"We thought we had another two thousand years yet" Oliver smiled. "But I know, how confusing this is."
He remembered when he was told that he was Vinny's soulmate. He thought he was going to live a normal human life and everything would be simple.
It took him quite a while to get over the change.
"The best thing to do is not really think about it until you have to. You have all the time in the world to cope with it."
Rayvon nodded, his dad was right.
How did it connect? Did it just happen?" Vinny asked.
Rayvon's heart almost failed. He knew it would've happened because they kissed each other and unlocked all of that powerful affection.
"Well, I-It didn't just happen. Um, we were-"
"Excuse me Masters" A voice interrupted them.
They all looked up to see a woman standing in a maids uniform.
"I've been informed that there are some disturbances in the Restaurant and the kitchen staff need help."
Vinny and Oliver sighed before the Vampire stood up.
"I'll go, stay with Rayvon," He said to his soulmate before giving him a kiss.
They both watched as the powerful man walked down the hallways.
From time to time, they get difficult customers that refuse to leave and are being tough. But the Vanderwood family rarely make an appearance in the outside world these days because they always sneak out or stay inside.
Vinny couldn't remember the last time he was in the restaurant. It must have been almost 70 years so most of the customers had never seen him in person before.
Oliver looked at the timer. It had been almost ten minutes.
"How're you feeling?" He asked his son.
"I don't know" Rayvon frowned. "Is it normal to miss someone this much?"
"Yes," Oliver smiled. "I miss your dad already."

Vinny pushed the door open to the kitchen and walked through. The staff double took, not expecting to see him but they could hear the shouting coming from the Restaurant and knew he would be here to sort it out.
Without hesitation, he wondered into the restaurant.
The public saw him and immediately started whispering, pointing and swiping their phones from their pockets.
The Vampire glared around the room before his eyes landed on a couple who was screeching at each other. They hadn't noticed he was there as he walked over.
"No, how dare you look at her pictures!" The woman yelled.
"I wasn't, stop being so god damn jealous!" The guy yelled back.
Vinny silently rolled his eyes. Why is it always couples who argue like this? He couldn't imagine what it must feel like.
"Do you think I'm stupid? I see you all the time, looking at her pic-"
"Will you shut up?" Vinny's deep voice said, making the whole room become quiet.
The couple turned, getting ready to argue but when they saw who it was, their jaws almost fell off.
Vinny stood tall, wise and full of authority.
"Both of you interrupted something extremely important. I know the staff would've asked you to leave, it is not acceptable to ignore them."
His glare was burning holes into their faces as they took a step back.
"So whatever it is you're arguing about, I suggest you stop being so rude and take it outside. The whole world doesn't need to know that your boyfriend is cheating on you."
The public tried holding in their sniggers. This is why they love Vinny, he's so bluntly honest and doesn't care what anyone thinks of him.
He glared at the couple with a deepening frown until they got so uncomfortable, they left.
He then turned and walked back towards the kitchen, feeling somewhat satisfied.

When Vinny returned, Rayvon was struggling quite a bit. That weird pulling sensation had returned to his chest and it was getting stronger with each passing minute.
"What was all that about?" Oliver questioned as Vinny sat next to him and took his hand.
"A couple, arguing" He mumbled.
Oliver chuckled.
"Let me guess, it was the guys fault?"
Vinny chuckled and nodded.
"Humans cause so much drama over nothing."
Oliver shook his head with a grin. It was true, the arguments he hears these days are very comical.
Just then, Rayvon gripped his chest and suddenly curled up into a ball. He cried out in pain as Vinny glanced at him with concern.
"I need Luka!" The boy cried. This pain was beyond unbearable. His mind went fuzzy as his whole body ached. His chest felt like it was attached to a rope and someone was stretching it too far. "Please, I need to be with him!"
Vinny stopped the timer and rubbed his son's back before lifting him up.
Oliver picked his phone up off the floor and looked at what it said.
He raised his eyebrows at the short time.
It read,
20 minutes.
