Chapter Ten - Philip
Philip flew through the woods. His mind could only focus on Adelaide and the baby. Part of him was guilty for leaving her and the child in that destroyed village alone, but the other part of him knew his duty was to his father, no matter where his heart lay.
He remembered what it was like to look at her when she was on his horse in the forest, how her lips tempted him, how her body fit perfectly with his. And her hair.
"My God, that hair." Philip laughed and remembered how much he loved her hair. It's rich redness bursting into the color of flames when she was outside. It was abundant with curls and bounced when she rode on her horse. It took every ounce of will power he could muster to stop him from burying his hands in her fiery locks.
He knew she would never love him as he did her. His heart sped up when she was around him and all he wanted was to wake up to her sleepy smile every morning, kiss her full, enticing lips when he pleased, and share his life with her. No woman had ever made him feel like that.
Philip tried to shake it off and focus on where he was going. He rode through a barely visible path in the Brae Forest. It twisted and wound through trees and slopes, making it very easy to get lost. From what he could tell, the ogres did come through this part. They left large enough prints to be tracked, not to mention the dead fall of trees they left in the wake.
The prints were fresh, only a few hours old. At the rate he was going rate, he would catch up with them by nightfall. He hoped that wherever the ogres were going, his father would be with them.
