Chapter eighteen
Addy tied the rest of her belongings up in a burlap fabric she found in the barn and secured it to her horse. Today was the day she was leaving for the village outside of the castle. Philip accepted her proposition and she was grateful. She truly loved him but she could not, would not, allow him to be treated unkindly because of her. It was not an option.
"Are you almost ready, Adelaide?" Philip walked up to her, bouncing Roisin in his arms. "I think this little girl is ready to leave this place, aren't you, my little fairy?" The prince rubbed noses with the baby girl and chuckled when she grabbed onto his hair tightly.
"I do believe so!" Addy looked to the doorway of the cottage. Her old mistress stood there glaring at her, hate burning in her eyes. "Yes, I am quite ready."
"Good!" Philip handed her Roisin and helped her atop her horse, then mounting his own. Once they had left the property, he turned to her and quirked an eyebrow. "I say, wherever did that Bradley fellow disappear to? He was nowhere to be found this morning."
Addy shook her head. "I do not know. Maybe he had plowing to do in the fields." I do not care, she thought. Let him be gone somewhere.
"He seemed rather intrigued with you, last night. He asked how I knew you and what my intentions were when we were in the barn."
"Oh, really? I have no idea why he would ask such things." Addy pursed her lips and tried to forget about Bradley. He set her on edge and she was glad to be rid of him.
"Yes, indeed. I told him that I knew you from a village and that I have every intention of making you my wife and that he should leave you alone." He laughed. "The look on his face when I said that. Oh, you should have seen it, darling. He looked shocked and then filled with rage. I was quite surprised that he did not blow his top!"
"You certainly pushed his buttons, Philip. Bradley is not a small man. I am awed that he resisted beating you to a pulp."
"You doubt that I could have been victorious if he fought me?" Philip flexed his arm and made a sad face. "I am quite hurt."
"Less so than if Bradley had gotten a hold on you, I wager." Addy grinned and quickly changed the subject. "How long until we get to the kingdom? I would like to get established as soon as possible."
Philip smiled over at her. "We should get there tomorrow afternoon, if we ride hard until dark. It will be two days if we go at a leisurely pace."
"Then I suppose we ought to get moving, shan't we?"
A/N:
Hi guys! I know this is a painfully short chapter but I wanted to get something out today! I have to study for an exam tonight and I have already procrastinated enough, sadly. I hope you enjoyed this chapter. It is kinda boring and it is basically just a filler chapter but eh *shrugs* sorry. I will have a chapter, possibly two, out this week!
Love all of you!
