CALLIE MADISON, Hawkins' resident hippie, was one of those devastatingly beautiful people. Her soul was beautiful, her face was beautiful, her smile was beautiful. She and the jangly gold bangles she wore religiously just shined, no matter where she was or what the circumstances were. Her energy was like an annoying virus ━━ if you were in her proximity, you would catch it. She could persuade anyone to do anything she wanted (which was usually to listen to her favorite songs), and was just a forced to be reckoned with.

ROBIN BUCKLEY was not doing so well, school wise. It was the start of her senior year, she had just helped at Starcourt Mall, the Byers had moved away, Steve graduated. Her grades were, to be frank, shit. She needed to get them up quickly, or she would be kicked out of band before the season even started. She was on her way to lunch when she saw a poster on the wall that read "NEED A TUTOR? CALL CALLIE MADISON!" with her number underneath. Fucking Callie Madison.

It wasn't that Robin hated Callie... she just greatly disliked her. Everyone adored her ━━ worshipped her, even ━━ and Robin just could not understand why. The girl looked like she'd been in a coma for the past ten years, with her floral dresses with big bell sleeves and those fucking bangles. However, she didn't see any other option. She had to do tutoring with her.

Within a week, their tutoring sessions began. Callie didn't know Robin personally, but she used to be close with Steve Harrington, who is Robin's best friend. She'd heard stories of the girl's awkward encounters ━━ times she'd stumbled over herself, stuttered mid-sentence, talked so fast nobody could keep up, and Callie found it all... charming. Truly. She thought Robin was adorable, quirky, and cute, but she could tell what Robin thought of her. So, over the course of their tutoring sessions, she plotted to convince Robin to like her.

She never plotted that either of them would fall in love.

Let me just say really quick that before this I had not listened to ANY old music that hasn't been on the radio. But I persevered for the sake of the fic and listened to a bunch of 60s, 70s, and early 80s songs to get myself in the mindset. And you know what? It's not that bad! I lowkey am loving this! Currently listening to the album Voulez-Vous by ABBA right now and I'm feeling very 70s very Daisy Jones very Mamma Mia very Meryl Streep it's kind of a slay???? This is my summer vibe I think

Also the prologue and the first chapter SUCK it took me so long to figure out what voice I wanted to write this in and I didn't know how to start it and the idea of rewriting stressed me the fuck out so just putting that out there LOL
